To be annoyed at woman from DofE car crash?

Whatever we think about Prince Phillip and his driving, the accident happened and two ladies were unfortunately hurt.

However, I am watching This Morning and getting some level of rage about the clear compo grabbing attitude of this lady! Crashes happen every day and she has no need to be splashed across every news paper and programme because she wants an apology!

The Royal Family have even said they have tried to be in touch but not getting a response. What does she want?!

Shock

Oh Lulu, that's terrible. So sorry

it's the fact that the palace released a statement strongly implying that someone had spoken directly to the injured parties which patently wasn't true.

How do you know it isn't true?

Theansweris · 21/01/2019 11:20

Can you find a way to prove the fraud to claw at least some of the money back?

She's definitely gunning for money in the press. I wish they weren't giving her air time!

Nannyplumbrocks · 21/01/2019 11:20

She came across terrible, clearly out for compo and for what? A broken wrist! Rediculous. Very obvious she has fallen out with her friend also.

Cuttingthegrass · 21/01/2019 11:21

Why are the papers and TV presenters inviting her story? It’s a car crash. Has her friend apologised and sent her flowers ? Police investigation still ongoing.

JemSynergy · 21/01/2019 11:21

A woman went into the back of my car when I was waiting to turn right, she got out of the car, made sure I was okay and apologised, it was raining and her brakes had failed. We were just both relieved no one was badly hurt but I was really shaken up for days and had whiplash. I never heard from the woman again, I didn't expect to. Regarding going to the papers, I'd like to think I wouldn't but most would it if offered money so I'm not going to judge her about that.

Nicknacky · 21/01/2019 11:21

Holy shit lulu

jessstan2 · 21/01/2019 11:24

The woman appears to be milking it a bit but she was hurt and probably egged on by the press.

It was discussed on Jeremy Vine not long ago, Ann Hegerty was on panel and spoke very sensibly about how the two parties are not supposed to talk to eachother after an accident, they exchange details. The police told Prince Philip not to go over but he did ask if they were alright. Since then the 'palace' have sent the best of wishes. He was breathalysed, taken to hospital to be checked over. No more than that can be done at the moment.

Philip's insurance will pay out, he will most likely be fined but do we know who was at fault, was it 'knock for knock', or whatever. He's not above the law, other royals have paid fines for driving offences.

Regarding him not wearing a seat belt, he may be exempt, some people are for various medical conditions but I don't know about him. I can imagine at 97 he might have very creaky shoulders. He could be fined for not wearing a belt but we aren't going to hear about it one way or the other.

Personally I think 97 is too old to be driving on public roads. Perhaps he will think the same now, especially if his wife and children give him a good telling off.

I'm glad no-one was killed.

Jeremy Vine is milking it too! Everyone is piling in. Ann Hegerty says you never apologise in a case like this even if you know it is your fault, she is citing her own experience where she admitted later she was at fault but it was for her insurance company to sort it.

strawberrypenguin · 21/01/2019 11:25

But eyewitnesses say Prince Philip checked on the women at the scene and I saw that someone from the palace had phoned them as said above.
Not sure what else she expects really. It should be handled through insurance etc as any other crash would be.

Bluelady · 21/01/2019 11:25

The media is obviously sick of Brexit and this woman is offering a bit of light relief. It wasn't her car, she wasn't driving and it wasn't her baby. She's milking her five minutes of fame for all it's worth. Abhorrent individual.

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/01/2019 11:26

Lulu, I think you should go to the press with a DM sad face. They'd pay you for that story! Was she prosecuted?

If you say "remember me to your mum", it means "say hello to your mum from me".

Apologising for something does not equal accepting liability. I think it was specifically dealt with in an Act of (the UK) parliament some years ago.

Do you need to wear a seat belt if you are on private land?

@LuluBellaBlue that is shocking!! What an awful person. I have reported your post though as the last thing you need is her going after you for compo for talking about her Confused

KrispyKracker · 21/01/2019 11:30

She was bleating on about how she could have died. I think the 97 year old fella who rolled his car was probably at more risk of death than her.

nannieplum · 21/01/2019 11:31

i hope the press do get wind of this! what a numptie!

NicoAndTheNiners · 21/01/2019 11:31

I did read that she'd said she was excited at the thought that the Queen might ring her.

I've had 4 people drive into me. None of them have rung me afterwards. Two drove off never to be seen again. One tried to drive off and I chased her for 3 miles before making her pull over, she initially said sorry then tried to say it hadn't happened even though there was extensive matching damage. Other one stopped, said sorry and then told his insurance he thought it was 50/50 even though he'd reversed into me when I was parked.

To be honest I think she's done OK even without flowers/an apology.

Newsername · 21/01/2019 11:32

😱😱

tillytrotter1 · 21/01/2019 11:33

If it's the woman from yesterday' papers she wasn't even driving nor was it her baby, she's looking for a massive pay-out. The insurance companies always say Never apologise, and why should anyone be in touch with her? Beyond dealings through insurance companies I've never been in touch with the other party.

"well wishes have been exchanged" when in fact nobody had spoken to me directly I'd be furious too.

Any contact would have been with the driver who is behaving with considerably more dignity than this woman.

Shallishanti123 · 21/01/2019 11:33

Lulu... I’d be contacting her saying “remember me?” The cheeky bint!!!

AfterSchoolWorry · 21/01/2019 11:35

LuluBellaBlue

That's terrible. Is there anything you can do?
