AIBU?

To be annoyed at woman from DofE car crash?

Whatever we think about Prince Phillip and his driving, the accident happened and two ladies were unfortunately hurt.

However, I am watching This Morning and getting some level of rage about the clear compo grabbing attitude of this lady! Crashes happen every day and she has no need to be splashed across every news paper and programme because she wants an apology!

The Royal Family have even said they have tried to be in touch but not getting a response. What does she want?!

I think people on here are being really unfair on online trolls Sad, which is considered a respectable hobby in certain circles.

Surely the police and insurers deal with the accident and the fraud department, police or Courts deal with the other issue. - not necessarily .I don't think they're obliged to deal with all fraud ,they might deem it a civil matter or not in the public interest to persue .

Happy to have legal input to explain this though .

EnteratA why have you chosen titillating as an adjective to describe Lulu's posts ?

@EnteratA have you by any chance just mentioned details that Lulu has previously mentioned but had deleted? If so, perhaps report your post. If not, apologies.

Lulu's post 21st 19.15. Still there a few mo's ago. I didn't see the deleted ones.

Read the comments of people slathering for PMs to get the details of the deleted posts. Pretty shocking as some other posters observed at the time.

Still think something about this doesn't stack up and another fake story that detracts from what MN is all about.

Ummmm.....I've just been googling, trying to see if there's any news on Lulu's story, and have stumbled across a YouTube video...... I'm not going to post it.

But, Idk Lulu. It's a little bit weird and smacks of attention seeking on your part. In any case, I hope you manage to reclaim what you're owed, if true.

@EnteratA sorry - must have missed that, and I have been following from the beginning Blush

So basically Lulu’s car accident is unrelated - it just happened around the same time as the rape which seems to be more relevant, in that it sounds like she was taken advantage of when at a low point.

FWIW I agree (and have already stated upthread) that Lulu’s story is a separate issue to the DofE accident. The worst it will do is attest further to EF’s character but will not change anything of this claim.

What Lulu has done is jump on this to try to get her claim sorted, and I guess resorting to social media can be a way to do it- especially when frustrated that you aren’t getting anywhere.

Story emerging that the Duke of Edinburgh was involved in an RTA in 1964.
Driver of other vehicle being interviewed.
Admits, on camera, that he doesn't have a Driving Licence - only a Provisional. Also, that he was driving, alone, in the car. So, no "L" plates. No insurance Grin
Happened on road outside a pub - landlady also being interviewed.
Apparently she didn't recognise the Queen or the DofE Grin

1964???? That's an awful long time ago. Mos t of you weren't born then!

Even I was young then! Grin

TBF, if that's the only driving fact they can dig up after 80 odd years of motoring, he's got a pretty good record.

That is truly pathetic isn't it? Reporting a crash that happened 54 years ago...

The Sun has printed the story of the Dukes apology today but hasn’t taken the opportunity to include the other story about EF so makes you wonder if they’re ever going to print it.

To be fair stories often get bumped if something more interesting comes along.

Is anyone else annoyed he's written EF an apology and given her the attention she was seeking?

Report
peridito · 27/01/2019 11:37

No ,I think expression of sympathy that she was hurt and involved is nice .Why wouldn't he write ? It's the kind of thing I would do ,and I think more ppl should .Though I take the point there needs to be care taken by most of us that fault is not admitted .

I hope he's also written to the driver .

Yes, I don't think he should have given her what she wanted, her sense of entitlement will go through the roof now. However, his emphasis on the weather conditions do point to her lying.

Report
peridito · 27/01/2019 12:04

her sense of entitlement will go through the roof now Ithink EF has said she would have liked a bunch of flowers or some such . Personally I dont see this as a sense of entitlement ,bit silly/uninformed maybe .

She seems v happy to have received the letter

“He asked how I was and said sorry that I was in pain. I was chuffed.

“I thought it was really nice that he signed off as ‘Philip’ and not the formal title. I was pleasantly surprised because of the personalised nature.

“A lot of people said it was unrealistic that I wanted that human kindness from Prince Philip – which is what I saw this letter as.”
