Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

I don't have ' The Chair '
I have two matching chairs. I want all 6 round the dining table, so 2 were relegated to the bedroom.
I'm posh me, I have his and hers matching chairs. ( not that it matters as you can't see them under the clothes etc ) 😁

Ifangyow · 07/01/2019 22:20

Sorry didn't want all 6 round the table.

LancashireTea · 07/01/2019 22:21

I have my clothes corner. DH folds his by the end of his side of the bed.

But nevertheless, the inevitable laundry mountain will return to fill the room, and it will be hard to see the wood from the trees (until I lose patience with being the only one who puts clean washing away and then spends two hours doing so!!)

geekone · 07/01/2019 22:21

I have what my DH calls a floordrobeBlush

mumsastudent · 07/01/2019 22:21

(thank god I thought I was the only sl ---recycler) actually its all full of my husbands stuff * counted 5 jumpers (maybe 6?) & 4 jeans -I didn't know he had that many? I wish he would recycle some so I could wash them & put them away -come spring they will all be on the clothes line (evil cackle) & he wont be able to find them (my store in on the spare bed in another room)

bumblingbovine49 · 07/01/2019 22:21

No room for a chair in my room instead I have a very small basket on the floor in the vain hope that the small size will discourage me from putting too many ' only slightly used' clothes in it. Instead the basket ends up hidden by the clothes piled on top of it .
I am very good at taking all dirty clothes downstairs every morning so don't have a laundry basket in the bedroom, I just put them in a pile at the top of the stairs at night. It is just the ' not ready to wash yet ones' I can't seem to work out what to do with . It seems so so wrong to put them back in the drawer/ wardrobe and I don't want to wash them yet. What to do .....

floradora · 07/01/2019 22:22

I have a "clothes mountain" which has four chair legs protruding from underneath. I do quite enjoy clearing it every weekend

Spellcheck · 07/01/2019 22:23

I dream of a chair. Instead, we have a TV utilised by my husband solely for the purpose of resting his clothes. Angry

ILoveAllRainbows · 07/01/2019 22:24

My bedroom is too small for a chair so I put my still clean clothes over the landing bannister.

Joinourclub · 07/01/2019 22:25

I have just counted two piles of clean but not put away clothes, and two piles of not clean but not quite dirty clothes in my bedroom.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 07/01/2019 22:25

We all have 'the chair' in our bedrooms. Bedrooms obviously need a bed, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and then - as you rightly say - 'the chair' for the clothes that you might (or not) wear again.
Chair is generally Lloyd Loom wicker type.

sproutsandparsnips · 07/01/2019 22:26

DH has the 'on half chair'. I do too but mine is truly for clothes that are worn one day and the next then in the washing basket. DH's has clothes on it for months.....

DressingGownPlease · 07/01/2019 22:30

Yes, every bedroom should have the chair!

BarbaraofSevillle · 07/01/2019 22:31

Steamed

Make that three Grin.

I have no room for a chair, or else I would have one. I have no desire for a big house, but for some reason covert a bedroom with a chaise longue and French windows that open onto a balcony.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 07/01/2019 22:31

Used to have a chair. But had to add an extra chest of drawers so now it gets put in a pile in the corner of the room 😊 which gets sorted weekly...

Loyaultemelie · 07/01/2019 22:32

We both have the chair one each side of the bed Blush

OhTheRoses · 07/01/2019 22:32

I call it airing. DH calls it slovenly. It's why his wardrobe has a faint whiff of body and why mine has a faint whiff of eau de Dior Grin.

InSightMars · 07/01/2019 22:34

I have The Chair in the corner and The Blanket Box at the foot of the bed only I'm not allowed to put nearly-clean clothes on them because the Alpha cat doesn't like to lounge about on anything that's not freshly laundered they are among her many many 'spots' to lounge about. Fortunately, she doesn't mind me putting them on top of the lidded wicker laundry basket since that isn't suitable for lounging given the creakiness and the lack of yielding softness underpaw.

It actually seems quite apt to have the interrobe there since it's a kind of an in-between-y zone for those items that hover in the grey area between not clean enough for the closet yet not quite unclean enough to warrant incarceration within the laundry basket.

Mrsmadevans · 07/01/2019 22:34

Yes we have a chair and 2 ottomans at the bottom of my bed

RandomMess · 07/01/2019 22:34

Moved to a smaller bedroom so the chair couldn't fit in 😢 now have the shoe cupboard pile instead...

Very smart shoe storage. I also discovered if I hang up work dresses they don't need re-ironing Wink

clearingaspaceforthecat · 07/01/2019 22:34

Yes - I have a chair, a floordrobe and an additional chair on the landing for overflow.
2 wardrobes which I never open as they are full of things I never wear. Items go from me to the chair(s) to me to the wash and most of my clothes have never seen the inside of the wardrobe.
Help!

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 07/01/2019 22:35

I also have 'the banister' like Rainbows. A little one outside the bedroom. My clothes are hung on that until they are ready to be put in the wash.

I also have 'the chair' but it is used for the clean laundry which gets taken upstairs and dumped in a heap while waiting to be sorted and put away. It is in the small bedroom.

Mrsmadevans · 07/01/2019 22:35

Notice that despite me being happily married to my DH it is 'my ' bed Grin

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 07/01/2019 22:36

Yep. God knows what’s on there!Shock

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 07/01/2019 22:37
