Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

Chair, chair??? We have an entire room. The back bedroom is a temple to worn for a few hours clothes. There’s probably stuff from the early 90s in there somewhere.

Sitranced · 07/01/2019 21:46

I used to until I got so pissed off with it being in the way that I put it on the bonfire. I figured if clothes are clean enough to be worn again they can go back in the wardrobe. The 'clean clean' clothes won't catch anything from the 'worn once' germs.

cowfacemonkey · 07/01/2019 21:46

Used to now I just hang them at one end of the wardrobe so I know which is which.

ChakiraChakra · 07/01/2019 21:46

¢glances across the room

Yep, I've got The Chair too. Since I'm renting a room, I have The Desk too.

I have to clear both very soon to do my tax return.

FML.

@HundredMilesAnHour - I found a pair of jeans I'd totally forgotten about. It's like going shopping in your own wardrobe Grin

I have the end of the bed. Convinced that if I leave a top —on the bed— to air the cooking smell will go. Funnily enough it never does.

Ellie56 · 07/01/2019 21:47

Yes we have The Chair too. The towels go on there too and the cat...

DramaAlpaca · 07/01/2019 21:47

I have a cross trainer. You can hang stuff off each handle and use the middle bit for piles of clothes Grin

Justmuddlingalong · 07/01/2019 21:48

I thought everyone had 'the chair'. I clear mine when I'm needing to make up a full load for the washing machine.

bengalcat · 07/01/2019 21:48

No chair but have a piano stool and the floor - either will do .

Adversecamber22 · 07/01/2019 21:48

We have a chair, it currently has just one jumper of DH on it :) mine go back in the wardrobe.

LadyBathory · 07/01/2019 21:49

Mines portable it’s DD old pram lol 😂

Notcontent · 07/01/2019 21:49

Yes, yes, yes! Except in my case it’s one of those large Ikea wooden boxes with a lid. It’s always covered with jumpers, jeans, etc.

Walkacrossthesand · 07/01/2019 21:50

It's called a chairdrobe isnt it? Why else have a chair in a bedroom?!

sizzledrizz · 07/01/2019 21:51

I got rid of the chair, am now forced to hang things over wardrobe doors and when finished with, add to the lovely pile near the bedroom door. It may be time to reinstate the chair

Izzy24 · 07/01/2019 21:52

Not only the chair but also a towel stand that’s not had space for a towel in living memory.

everythingthelighttouches · 07/01/2019 21:53

Abso-bloody-lutely! I knew exactly what this thread would be about when i read the title! We used to have a whole sofa and downgraded to a Chair in the hope it would reduce the clothes mountain. No. Now have such a big pile you can even see the chair legs Confused

everythingthelighttouches · 07/01/2019 21:53

*can't

Returning2thesceneofthecrime · 07/01/2019 21:55

The chair doesn’t fit in the current bedroom. I now have a floor instead.

MothOnTheWall · 07/01/2019 21:56

I have just acquired a rather lovely vintage rocking chair for my room...purely for this purpose I'm upgrading from a floordrobe...

NorrieTheMouse · 07/01/2019 21:56

I have recently replaced The Chair with an Ikea valet stand. Currently it’s clearer than the chair was but there are a couple of things that seem to have taken up permanent residence there, so I’m not sure how long it will stay neat and tidy.

Troels · 07/01/2019 21:56

Ahhh the Chairdrobe. I had one for years. Now Dh put hooks on the back of the door I have a doordrobe.
Dd says she uses the floordrobe.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 07/01/2019 21:57

Totally have the chair . My mum tried to give me her the chair but I declined. She has an ottoman: for which read really massive blanket box upholstered with Turkish carpet. It is the ultimate the chair-

BreconBeBuggered · 07/01/2019 21:57

I was about to smugly shake my head, until I remembered The Stool. The Stool, being merely A Stool, sends most items of clothing onto The Floor, where they're frequently requisitioned by The Dog & swiftly become candidates for the washing machine.
