Does anyone else have 'the chair' in their bedroom?

You know, the chair? The chair where worn but not ready to go in the wash clothes go because it feels weird hanging them back up if they're not clean?

Then the pile of clothes gets so big you can no longer see the chair. Then when you crack and de-clothe the chair you find things you'd totally forgotten about?

Or is this just me? Am I the only slovenly one?

Yes - a random old kitchen chair. I don't suppose it matters what it looks like as one can't see the chair under the pile of clothes anyway!

Dreamscomingtrue · 07/01/2019 22:39

I’ve had that chair for nearly 30 years 🙄

NoTeaNoShadeNoPinkLemonade · 07/01/2019 22:39

Soo am I the only one that thought this was about a sex chair?

lunchboxloony · 07/01/2019 22:40

Of course - DH and I have one each and so do the DCs Grin| I have no intention of washing every item that's only been worn once (e.g. shirts worn for a few hours in the evening after a shower, or trousers) but neither do I want to put them back in the wardrobe to treat them as though they are totally clean.
We are both a bit of a nightmare though - and the pile gets huge - but at least I'm saving on unnecessary washing and the clothes last longer!

SoleBizzz · 07/01/2019 22:40

I have a washing basket piled high. Chair was chucked because of my new leaf. Hmm

Freshprincess · 07/01/2019 22:41

I was actually perusing the IKEA website earlier looking for an armchair for my bedroom, so I can retire to my room and read —upgrade my floordrobe—

thebigmaniswatching · 07/01/2019 22:42

I totally knew what this thread would be about!!Grin

The chair wasn’t enough so seeing as the ironing board wasn’t in much use it’s taken over, much more surface spaceGrin

And I agree about when you do finally get round to clearing it, it’s like a whole new wardrobe

Wheresthebeach · 07/01/2019 22:45

We have 'the Trunk' and sometimes 'The Small Table'. Drives DH bonkers...DD is def Floordrobe fan after The Chair in her room was moved....

thegreylady · 07/01/2019 22:47

Dh has The Chair I have The Extra Not Quite Laundry Basket...
Sometimes both piles get so big that I wash them ready or not just so I can put them away. Then I realise wardrobe and drawers are stuffed.
Washing is taking over the world!

DinoDave · 07/01/2019 22:47

Nope. We have The Bannister.

mamaduckbone · 07/01/2019 22:48

Yep - we have ‘The Chair’ and ‘The Blanket Chest’ in our room, ds1 has ‘The table football table’ and ds2 ‘The sofabed’

WithTwoGiantBoys · 07/01/2019 22:49

My dh has just suggested getting rid of my Chair Shock I should probably just LTB.

loolooskip · 07/01/2019 22:49

I figured if clothes are clean enough to be worn again they can go back in the wardrobe. The 'clean clean' clothes won't catch anything from the 'worn once' germs.

But they totally will though.

VeryQuaintIrene · 07/01/2019 22:49

I was given a valet chair for Christmas to upgrade my floordrobe.

AlbertWinestein · 07/01/2019 22:50

I have a chair in our bedroom but I don’t leave clothes on it. There would be no point. The dogs would be so happy to have something that smelled of us when we’re out, they’d promptly sleep on them and then they’d need washing anyway.

I just hang them back up in the closet. Or wash them.

vdbfamily · 07/01/2019 22:51

We had a chair at old house....now have a laundry basket but I get enraged as DH drapes things on laundry basket...usually to signify there is some wear left in the item but then the pile of draped things increases until I give up and wash it all anyway. I am angling for another chair and putting laundry basket on landing but I know we would then have pants and socks on floor so stuck in limbo land at the mo.

Ollivander84 · 07/01/2019 22:52

Nope, no chair
I have a spare bedroom Blush which is used solely for wardrobe, heated airer, clothes on the bed and the cat to nap on the bed

KatyaZamolodchikova · 07/01/2019 22:57

I have the floor. DP HATES it. Today I found the gym t-shirt I was looking for three weeks ago though, so that was a bonus!

PersilOrAriel · 07/01/2019 22:57

JUST PUT THEM BACK IN THE WARDROBE!! Honestly, nobody will die, they really won’t. You’ll feel so smug.

loolooskip · 07/01/2019 22:57

We have a chaise, two chairs and a long window bench. All two feet high in crap. Blush

ThomasRichard · 07/01/2019 22:58

My Chair is covered in cushions and has a footstool sitting on it from when I vacuumed last week. Nearly-clean clothes go on top of the chest of drawers.

I had some lovely surprises when I finally tackled the teetering ironing pile on top of the tumble dryer a few months ago. I found all sorts of clothes I’d assumed I’d accidentally given to charity!

DippyAvocado · 07/01/2019 22:59

I have the chair too. I do actually put worn clothes back in the wardrobe, but often I'm too lazy so I just stick them on the chair if I'm tired at night.

We had guests over Christmas staying in our room so I had to clear the chair! It looked so strange, just standing there all lonely.

loolooskip · 07/01/2019 23:00

No I wouldn't. I'd feel like the dirty slattern I was.

It's like crossing the streams (Ghostbusters), you just don't do it.

ginghamstarfish · 07/01/2019 23:00

A chaise lounge AND a bentwood hat/coat stand ... all mine, DH puts everything away in between wears.

MamaVV · 07/01/2019 23:00

I read the title and totally expected ‘the chair’ to be a sex swing of sorts Shock
