What is the ultimate Jacket Potato filling?

My pregnancy craving is jacket potatoes! I can't stop Blush

My absolute favourite is butter, tuna and cheese.
Sometimes I add beans to this too, hot or cold ones. Or just beans and cheese, or cheese and red onion.
Then there's beans and cheese..
Veggie chilli and sour cream..

The potato has to be slightly mashed with a fork in the middle and then covered in butter before any toppings are added.

Also, I went to a cafe today who didn't pre butter and gave me butter in a little pot - how on earth do you add butter to an already filled potato!?

Mmmmmmm AIBU to ask what the ultimate jacket potato is?

I loathe the term ‘jacket potato’ and never use it, even when people bloody CORRECT ME. Grrr...

To answer the question: cold butter and cold egg mayonnaise are my favourite filling for a baked potato. I am overcome with excitement when I see this on a menu.

RandomWok · 02/01/2019 17:07

Butter and marmite!! Have only just discovered this. Oh my I need one!!

Haffiana · 02/01/2019 17:08

weegiehere what exactly is baconaise? I was looking at that on the Costco menu today!

wanderingcloud · 02/01/2019 17:09

OH created us a Christmas dinner jacket potato before Christmas; cooked chicken pieces, pigs in blankets, a stuffing ball and peas and carrots with gravy and cranberry sauce. It was amazing!

KipperTheFrog · 02/01/2019 17:10

Cheese and beans.
Scoop the potato out of the skin and mix with the beans and cheese then put it back in and eat it. With worcestershire sauce on top.
If only I hadn't already planned dinner...

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 02/01/2019 17:11

I can't understand people who don't eat the skins though. It's the best bit! Ideally, you should be able to use the skin to cut the knife Grin

MrsDannyRicc · 02/01/2019 17:11

Nah, Tesco finest are OK, but the potato of choice has to be a King Edward.

The ultimate baked potato potato

lotusbell · 02/01/2019 17:12

Butter, salt and pepper. Sometimes with cheese. Maybe chilli. But that's it.

katseyes7 · 02/01/2019 17:13

Mine is Morrison's Cheese and Pickle sandwich filling. lt's divine.

labazs · 02/01/2019 17:13

tuna sweetcorn and mayo
cheese and beans
cheese and red onion
cheese and pineapple

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 02/01/2019 17:14

Beans and cheese with coleslaw on the side

RippleEffects · 02/01/2019 17:15

Crispy skin, fluffy middle with butter melted and mashed in before adding cheese, left to melt a little then a big drizzle of barbeque sauce on top. Sliced cherry plum or vine tomatoes on the side.

slappinthebass · 02/01/2019 17:16

I like tuna mayo, cheese AND beans the most.

BabyNameBook · 02/01/2019 17:16

Yes I agree a crispy skin is an absolute must. If it's crispy enough at the end after the fluffy stuff in the middles all gone I will rebutted it and use it to mop up left over bean juice or cheese.. mmmmmmm

OP posts:
concretesieve · 02/01/2019 17:17

Butter and grated cheddar.

BabyNameBook · 02/01/2019 17:17

Re-butter not rebutted

Cheese and branston pickle,
tuna mayo, cheese and spring onion
Prawns and Marie Rose sauce
Curry
Chilli

midgwit · 02/01/2019 17:17

Butter, goats cheese, pesto and pineapple. Discovered when working in a 'fancy' pizza restaurant and bored of eating pizza every shift.

Although not too helpful for you as don't think you can have goats cheese when pregnant (the soft rind type anyway)? I'm also pregnant so I sympathise.

Jezzifishie · 02/01/2019 17:18

Loui tuna! (Tuna, mayo, peppers, red onion, generous amount of chilli). Top with grated cheese Grin

MyBreadIsEggy · 02/01/2019 17:19

Jacket spud is one of my favourite foods Grin
In order of preference:

  1. Cheese, coleslaw, more cheese
  2. Cheese, beans, more cheese
  3. Leftover chilli con carne

Absolutely banging Grin

Clevs · 02/01/2019 17:20

Either proper butter, cheese and coleslaw or prawns in Marie Rose sauce.

limitedperiodonly · 02/01/2019 17:20

a friend made me one with tuna, coleslaw and pickled beetroot

She would not be a friend of mine about 10 seconds after serving that up.

MumW · 02/01/2019 17:21

One of my favoirites is blue cheese and bacon. Although I think blue cheese isn't allowed when pregnant.
