What is the ultimate Jacket Potato filling?

BabyNameBook · 02/01/2019 16:02

My pregnancy craving is jacket potatoes! I can't stop Blush

My absolute favourite is butter, tuna and cheese.
Sometimes I add beans to this too, hot or cold ones. Or just beans and cheese, or cheese and red onion.
Then there's beans and cheese..
Veggie chilli and sour cream..

The potato has to be slightly mashed with a fork in the middle and then covered in butter before any toppings are added.

Also, I went to a cafe today who didn't pre butter and gave me butter in a little pot - how on earth do you add butter to an already filled potato!?

Mmmmmmm AIBU to ask what the ultimate jacket potato is?

Tuna mayo and sweetcorn. And butter.

Neverunderfed · 02/01/2019 16:51

Cheese and bacon with onion and mayo

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 02/01/2019 16:54

What's depressing about jacket potatoes? Nature's prozac I calls 'em. Fluffy parcels of carby bliss that they are.

SeaGreenSeaGlass · 02/01/2019 16:54

For the tuna lovers - a friend made me one with tuna, coleslaw and pickled beetroot and it was surprisingly good.

DorothyBastard · 02/01/2019 16:54

My favourite is loads of butter, salt & pepper, and then a massive dollop of cheese savoury (chopped spring onions, grated cheese, and mayonnaise)

Yum. Regretting doing pasta bake for tonight’s tea now!

Snog · 02/01/2019 16:54

Aaaargh you lot have made me put some jackets in my oven thus trashing my meal plan.

Weak willed? Suggestible? Moi?

LittleBlueRidingBoot · 02/01/2019 16:55

Peanut butter don't knock it till you try it.

Nicknamesalltaken · 02/01/2019 16:56

A buttery base first and foremost. Tinned chilli with grated cheese on top.

CheshireChat · 02/01/2019 16:56

Avocado, sweet corn and onions.

It's surprisingly nice!

MiggledyHiggins · 02/01/2019 16:56

If you have a slow cooker, snip up a packet of rashers, slice up a small punnet of mushrooms, add a carton of cream and a good dash of paprika and leave on low overnight until it's a lovely caramel colour.
Potato should scooped out, mashed with lashings of butter and seasoning and packed back into skin with this heaped on top.

This is the ultimate topping for a baked potato.

MorningsEleven · 02/01/2019 16:57

It's depressing limited because you're wrapping them in foil. They've got to be cooked naked until the skin is so crispy you could stab a rhinoceros with it.

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 02/01/2019 16:58

Twice-baked: scoop out the floof, combine with finely chopped onions, olive oil and salt and pepper and BAKE the buggers till crispy.

OGOD I AM SO HUNGRY

TimeIhadaNameChange · 02/01/2019 16:59

Flesh removed and mashed with lots of butter, cheese, salt and pepper, with some fried pancetta mixed in. All returned inside the skin, loads more grated cheese on top then ten more mins in the oven. Served with beans.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/01/2019 16:59

Just butter. SO MUCH BUTTER.

And salt and pepper. And more butter if you want.

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 02/01/2019 16:59

Beans and cheese (strong mature cheddar) for me. Or butter, creme fraiche and hummus (not strictly a 'topping', this, as I have it on the side).

My dc like lid-potatoes à la Milly-Molly-Mandy.

VodkaRevelation · 02/01/2019 17:00

Butter, lots of salt, cheese, beans, bacon and coleslaw.

lalafafa · 02/01/2019 17:00

Chopped red onion, tuna and strong cheese

AGHHHH · 02/01/2019 17:00

Loaded with cheese and bacon

Peanut butter? oh god.

Sforsh49 · 02/01/2019 17:02

@BabyNameBook get yourself to Tesco and buy the Finest jacket potato's. You'll never use normal spuds again, the Finest ones are AMAZING!! With Tuna, salad cream, mayo and Lancashire Cheese melted on top

BabyNameBook · 02/01/2019 17:03

Peanut butter!? Really? I did hope for a sweet suggestion but I don't think I have the lady bollocks to try it Blush

Jacket potatoes are in no way depressing, they clearly give me a very natural high and this thread is the least depressing thing in the world to me right now.

@Sforsh49 what's so fancy about them!? Grin

I only like a wee bit of salt in a baked tattie

Nothing else, no butter, no nothing!

weegiehere · 02/01/2019 17:05

The chicken and baconaise ones from the Costco cafe 🥰

FuckBrussel · 02/01/2019 17:05

@TheSpottedZebra - THANKYOU.

A woman after my own heart, obviously - a properly prepared baked spud should have a hard crispy outside filled with a golden salty buttery soup.

Yum.

EmeraldShamrock · 02/01/2019 17:05

Coleslaw, cheese, chopped bacon and more cheese.
Hmm I am craving one now.
