What is the ultimate Jacket Potato filling?

My pregnancy craving is jacket potatoes! I can't stop Blush

My absolute favourite is butter, tuna and cheese.
Sometimes I add beans to this too, hot or cold ones. Or just beans and cheese, or cheese and red onion.
Then there's beans and cheese..
Veggie chilli and sour cream..

The potato has to be slightly mashed with a fork in the middle and then covered in butter before any toppings are added.

Also, I went to a cafe today who didn't pre butter and gave me butter in a little pot - how on earth do you add butter to an already filled potato!?

Mmmmmmm AIBU to ask what the ultimate jacket potato is?

I love cheese and Heinz beans on a jacket potato with lots of butter mashed into the potato before topping, but what makes amazing for me is a massive dollop( or more!) of Hellman's Mayo, it completely changes a cheese and beans jacket!

Hoppinggreen · 02/01/2019 16:34

John west do a little tin of tin with chilli dressing
That with mayo ( and a shit load of butter) is my favourite
Can’t go wrong with just grated cheese though

Squatternutbosh123 · 02/01/2019 16:34

A thick sauce made from soft cheese, garlic and chunky mushrooms

hellsbellsmelons · 02/01/2019 16:34

Also if there's cheese involved it should go on the bottom and the top for example, butter then cheese then beans then more cheese..
Absolutely.
Wow - I want a jacket potato now!

Lovellama · 02/01/2019 16:36

Cheese and chopped onion
Or cheese and chilli 😍😍

Hersetta427 · 02/01/2019 16:36

Cheese and beans for me (with a side of brown sauce !).

Honkyzeke · 02/01/2019 16:36

This is the law surely!??

Mosaic123 · 02/01/2019 16:38

Cottage cheese and chives really cold from the fridge plus butter on a very hot potato. Fabulous.

FluffySlipperSocks · 02/01/2019 16:39

Cheese and coleslaw
Tuna and cheese
Cheese and onion
Cheese and beans

Knittedfairies · 02/01/2019 16:40

I love my jacket potatoes with butter, cheese and coleslaw, but the spud has to be hot. There is a special place in hell for cafés that have the nerve to send out tepid jacket potatoes with very cold cheese in them.

LeslieYep · 02/01/2019 16:40

Cheese, beans and coleslaw. It's amazing. Saw me right in the early weeks of pregnancy!

FuckBrussel · 02/01/2019 16:41

Lashings of really good salted butter.

And don't forget to keep a dollop back to sandwich in the skins when you've eaten the insides.

DontCallMeBaby · 02/01/2019 16:44

Cheese, mostly. Or double baked with cheese and bacon, option sour cream as a dip. I’ve never fancied cold, non-meltable toppings (tuna, coronation chicken) on a potato, and anything hot I’d rather either on the side WITH a potato, or with their logical accompaniments instead (curry with rice etc). Only possible exception would be baked beans, but I’m allergic to the fuckers.

MadeleineMaxwell · 02/01/2019 16:45

Butter, tuna, sweetcorn, lashings of melted cheese. Can't beat it.

blamethecat · 02/01/2019 16:45

Chilli and cheese
Tuna and cheese
Coleslaw and cheese
Cheese
or my favourite, double baked filled with fried onion and bacon, a heap of butter, black pepper and of course cheese.
I like cheese.

Shadow1234 · 02/01/2019 16:46

Cottage cheese with pineapple or coronation chicken.

Have to have grated carrots and cucumber as a side salad as well.

whatwillbewillbe03 · 02/01/2019 16:46

butter, mature cheddar (tickler) beans (has to be Branston) then more cheese..

butter, mature cheddar (tickler), coleslaw, then more cheese..

butter, mature cheddar (tickler), crispy bacon

butter, mature cheddar (tickler), chilli, more cheese

butter, mature cheddar (tickler), bolognese, more cheese..

and i wonder how i have put on a stone since bringing in my halogen oven to work and having JP's 3/4 times a week...

Smurfy23 · 02/01/2019 16:46

Grated cheddar and coleslaw

I'm not a big JP fan but I'd eat that!

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 02/01/2019 16:48

Am vegan, and I love what I call a dirty spud which is Vitalite, too much salt, hoummous AND beans. It is absolutely f*ing filthy and I love it.

Lauren83 · 02/01/2019 16:49

Tuna and cheese (cheese on first) with butter and loads of salt and pepper

ladybee28 · 02/01/2019 16:50

Oh my... I am RAVENOUS reading all these!

I'm going to sling you a curveball – while the usual beans and cheese / tuna and cheese etc. is a classic and therefore unbeatable, I do also LOVE:

Hot jacket potato
Lashings of cheese mashed in
Topped with cottage cheese, black pepper and then a dollop of pesto.

Sounds mental but it is HEAVENLY, I tell you. HEAVENLY.

SusanWalker · 02/01/2019 16:50

And the coleslaw has to be homemade with red cabbage.

limitedperiodonly · 02/01/2019 16:50

I like potatoes in their many incarnations but this is just fucking depressing, isn't it? What is your favourite jacket potato? Some of us aspire to more than a baked spud.

But in the spirit of the thread I'd say the potato should be salted and slicked with butter before being wrapped in foil and baked for about 90 minutes. Then, when it is done, it should be slit four ways with butter dunked into its heart while mashing it down. And then sliced ham, lots of ham, topped with grated cheese, and some finely chopped spring onion, lots of grated cheese and then more ham with a lot more cheese. Then It should be baked for about 10 mins at 200C

That is my recipe. You can serve it with salad as an option.

SusanWalker · 02/01/2019 16:51

Also leftover chicken and sweetcorn in a white sauce with onion and herbs and garlic.

Sitranced · 02/01/2019 16:51

Mushroom stroganoff (on a sweet jacket potato)
