What is the ultimate Jacket Potato filling?

BabyNameBook · 02/01/2019 16:02

My pregnancy craving is jacket potatoes! I can't stop Blush

My absolute favourite is butter, tuna and cheese.
Sometimes I add beans to this too, hot or cold ones. Or just beans and cheese, or cheese and red onion.
Then there's beans and cheese..
Veggie chilli and sour cream..

The potato has to be slightly mashed with a fork in the middle and then covered in butter before any toppings are added.

Also, I went to a cafe today who didn't pre butter and gave me butter in a little pot - how on earth do you add butter to an already filled potato!?

Mmmmmmm AIBU to ask what the ultimate jacket potato is?

Chilli and cheese
Tuna mayo and sweet corn
Bolognese and cheese

But always NO BUTTER 🤢🤢🤢

Crunchymum · 02/01/2019 22:29

I am absolutely salivating at the idea of a jacket potato.

Mine would be butter, then beans, then cheese, then coleslaw.

I am so having this for dinner tomorrow.

Oddly enough I wouldn't dream of having a spud with just cheese or just beans or just coleslaw. I could about cope with cheese and beans but I'd feel short changed about the coleslaw. And if I'd run out if butter then the world would implode Grin

I am also partial to leftover chill or Bolognese over a jacket spud... with shit loads of cheese

My jacket spuds have to be oven cooked. None of this microwave nonsense.

blamethecat · 02/01/2019 22:31

There will be a shortage of baking potatoes nationwide after this.

ApplesinmyPocket · 02/01/2019 22:32

Lots of really crispy streaky bacon, chopped. Lashings of butter. Maybe a spoonful of sweetcorn. Heaven.

DangerMouse17 · 02/01/2019 22:32

Cheese, beans and coleslaw.....and in that order!! Grin

KatyMac · 02/01/2019 22:33

in our house plain butter or stirfried peppers and onions (with soy sauce and a teaspoon of brown sugar so the caramelise) or bizarrely pate!! It's odd but lovely

FascinatingCarrot · 02/01/2019 22:42

No microwave - none.
Proper baked spud in the oven with a rubbing over of olive oil and them big salt bits from B&M sea salt. Layered cracking skin outside with yellow flesh inside. Cut into quarters. Decent 300g blob of Lurpak in the middle.
In the meantime you have a prawn mayo combo quietly chilling in the fridge. Handful of iceberg lettuce (the inside bit, not the greener effort on the outside), and a couple of slices of cuc.
Add enough prawn mayo to appetite and another small blob of lurpak on top.
Ive perfected this. I know this to be true.

I had cottage cheese crunch in mine today. Cottage cheese mixed with diced chunks of cucumber and spring onion.

horsesheep · 02/01/2019 22:45

Tuna and cheese
Beans and cheese
Chilli and cheese
Cheese and onion

horsesheep · 02/01/2019 22:45

Obviously with lashings of butter as well!! 😋

Honkyzeke · 02/01/2019 23:59

That's tomorrow's dinner sorted in my head now.

For the children - cheese and bacon or cheese and beans for the one that like beans

Me - beans, cheese then coleslaw (good stuff not slimy stuff boak!). The coleslaw and beans end up smushed together with the cheese and create this glorious mix that looks hideous 🤣.

FoxInABox · 03/01/2019 00:21

Sphagetti hoops (hate beans!), cheese & coleslaw.
Also coronation chicken.

FoxInABox · 03/01/2019 00:23

The best ever jacket potato I had was in a restaurant called Mannys in Florida. Oh my word.... it was so good I would just eat that on its own. I think it had plenty of salted butter and it was just perfection.

Lemond1fficult · 03/01/2019 00:25

Prepared to be flamed... but, chivey cottage cheese with a sprinkling of mature cheddar.

Fibbertigibbet · 03/01/2019 11:12

Before I was vegetarian, tuna mayo.

Now I'm veggie, my favourite is beans and cheese, and I add balsamic vinegar and smoked paprika to the beans. Sometimes I'll add extra butter to the potato and have a salad in it with plenty of tahini, lemon and ginger dressing and avocado.

Lifeonmars77 · 03/01/2019 13:19

Chicken and bacon mayo (sometimes with cheese)
Cheese, crispy bacon and beans
Cheese, spring onion and mayo
Cheese and gravy
Cheese and coleslaw
Cheese, roasted veg and pesto
Cheese and branston pickle

Corned beef hash jackets - Scoop out the middle, mix with salt, pepper, cheese, onions and corned beef, more cheese on top then bake til crispy.

Did I mention there has to be cheese? Smile

MulticolourMophead · 03/01/2019 13:34

Cheese & Tuna Mayo for me, please Grin

I do like to add butter and a little salt and mash up the potato in the skin before adding the toppings.

DS likes cheese and ham, while DD is a cheese and beans lover.

EwItsAHooman · 03/01/2019 14:25

I've been to the co-op and there are no baking potatoes! NONE. Asked at the till and the woman said I'm around the fourth or fifth person to have asked today. I must live in anesthesia of MNers

EwItsAHooman · 03/01/2019 14:25

*a nest

Doesabear · 03/01/2019 14:51

Butter, marmite, cheese, beans, chopped red onion, black pepper Smile

foxtiger · 03/01/2019 15:24

My favourite is cheese and coleslaw but I think maybe you're not supposed to have coleslaw when you're pregnant. Cheese and red onion sounds quite a satisfying substitute.

foxtiger · 03/01/2019 15:24

Oh, and butter and (crucially) plenty of black pepper with either.
