To ask if you look like shit?

No matter how much I mosturise, sleep, drink water, eat healthy(ish), remove my make up before bed, exfoliate, exercise etc etc etc ... all the usual stuff you're told to do I always look like shit. I'm due on my period next week so it's only going to get worse so my high hopes of looking all refreshed over Christmas are down the drain.

Does anyone else feel like this?

Yeah man. I have a cold ❄

halfwitpicker · 14/12/2018 12:44

Fake tan helps

Grace212 · 14/12/2018 12:45

yes.

I wonder if it's my age though - I'm 43.

MrsCrapBag · 14/12/2018 12:46

Not really keen on fake tan as I have sensitive skin so scared I'll have a reaction. I look like shit when I'm healthy, with a cold I literally look like the walking dead.

mrsseashell · 14/12/2018 12:46

@halfwitpicker I agree but can never muster the energy to do it

Crimbobimbo · 14/12/2018 12:46

Hell yeah.

edwinbear · 14/12/2018 12:47

Yes - I'm also 43 and put on 2 stone over 2 years, my skin is a mess, my hair is frizzy, I can't be bothered to buy new clothes and I'm permanently shattered. It's all a bit depressing.

flamingofridays · 14/12/2018 12:49

yep I feel like I always look shit! I don't have time to make an effort like I used to pre ds, and so everyone else probably thinks I look fine, but I don't even look like me anymore. DS is 2 so I don't even have an excuse of sleepless nights!

Grace212 · 14/12/2018 12:49

what's been annoying is at 40 I didn't look anywhere near 40

now I suddenly look older than I am. I think it happened c42 but I wasn't really paying attention.

MrsCrapBag · 14/12/2018 12:51

Thanks ladies ... nice to know I'm not alone in this. I'd love to wake up & not dread looking in the morning to see what little surprise has reared it's ugly head during the night. Spots, dry skin, chapped lips ... I thought a good nights sleep was supposed to help but I look like I've been hit by a truck 😕

ChristmasRaven · 14/12/2018 12:51

Yes, I'm 48 so I no longer care! I've reached the "invisibility" stage which has it's plus points!

MrsCrapBag · 14/12/2018 12:52

Yep, 13 days post partum, skin dry, hair has gone like wire, dark circles under my eyes ☹️

Smurfie12 · 14/12/2018 12:54

Jumps up and down waving me me me !!! I know I look shit and my skin has broken out with dry scaly patches which means even if I wanted to try to disguise with make up it just looks even shitter !!!

But on a hilarious note I was trying a new miracle face cream the other night before bed and my lovely husband to be said "why are you trying to make yourself uglier than you already are" its a good job I have a wicked sense of humour otherwise the wedding would be off hahaha

halfwitpicker · 14/12/2018 12:56

Well this is cheerful reading

We ALL look like shit! GrinCake

Mummblebee · 14/12/2018 12:56

I agree that fake tan is the solution. Maybe you can find one for sensitive skin? Also teeth whitening helps.

ChristmasRaven · 14/12/2018 12:56

I think it happened c42 but I wasn't really paying attention

God I know that feeling! For years I was always being told I looked younger than my age. Somewhere in my 40's people stopped saying it Sad

Mummblebee · 14/12/2018 12:57

And definitely fill in your eyebrows..

kaitlinktm · 14/12/2018 12:57

I wonder if it's my age though - I'm 43.

You are a mere stripling - wait till you're 63 like me! Grin I have given up - frizzy grey hair (no longer colouring) horrible skin, fat, never did have any fashion sense and cba with makeup.

It only bothers me from time to time.

Mari50 · 14/12/2018 12:58

Yes.
I’m currently on holiday somewhere warm and exposing my body is causing me no end of distress/disappointment. My legs look like 10 denier tights badly stuffed with porridge (and my arms are catching up) My constant frowning cause I can’t see is making my forehead wrinkles intolerable. I look fucking awful. And to make things worse I noticed 6 thick black hairs growing out of my chin when I had a quick (ill advised) look in the car mirror- growing old fucking sucks. And the Botox I decided not to have pre holiday will definitely be getting done when I get home.

blackteasplease · 14/12/2018 12:58

Yes I look like shit

blackteasplease · 14/12/2018 12:59

And no one feels refreshed at Christmas so why bother trying to look it?

amusedbush · 14/12/2018 13:00

I'm five stone heavier than I was last Christmas thanks to binge eating disorder completely crippling me. I look like shit on a stick.

AlbaAlba · 14/12/2018 13:00

Since whitening my teeth, I've had quite a few compliments - people don't realise it's the teeth, they just think I'm looking fresher and young and ask what make up I use.

Dentists will do whitening trays etc for about £200, if you shop around. Don't go to a beauticians, it's unsafe and illegal.

TheExamStartsNow · 14/12/2018 13:01

I don't, but I do have to work at it. If I have a few weeks of not eating well, drinking enough water, taking care of my skin etc, then I very quickly look puffy, sallow, dark eye bags, spotty, flaky etc.

But then if I can look ok with some effort, I'm guessing it's part luck too, if you're saying you do all that and still look shit.

Fwiw, I'm sure you don't actually look shit. We are our own worst critics.
