I had the misfortune of watching Naked Attraction and was shocked at the lack of pubes...and how people were berated for having a postage stamp sized amount. The men’s view also seemed to be strange where there was a definite trend for those looking like a plucked turkey.

I dabbled with a Brazilian when I was in my twenties but soon stopped when I realised it was a complete waste of time and money.

I now have a full bush and I love it. I really don’t see the appeal of shaving/waxing to have horrid regrowth and ingrown hairs or to look like a child.

AIBU to think we should all band together and let our lady gardens flourish to turn the tide on this degrading trend?

I honestly feel like the only person who doesn't wax mine. It's never appealed to me

People should do what they want with their pubes, be it no hair, full bush or somewhere inbetween.

It’s ridiculous isn’t it. If I removed it all I’d be constantly itchy and look like I was diseased (with ingrown hairs all over). Maintaining it would be a complete pita.
I’m sticking to my neatly trimmed bush thanks very much (even the nearly trimming is effort enough!)

It's a fashion, probably porn related at some level, but a lot of people like it. It's nothing new at all to have a pube 'zeitgeist' - historically people have often styled or removed hair.

Of course yabu to think that women should all have their pubic hair in the way you want yours. No person should have their pubic hair in anyway they don't want. Wether that's because men think it should look like a porn movie or other women think it should be big and bushy to perform some sort protest.

Some people will say it's a porn thing. But shaving off all body hair has been a thing in various cultures for thousands of years.

Personally, I use the clippers in mine. I don't like it all off. No do I like it long and bushy.

Dp does the same. Again, not bald. Just trimmed.

I'm convinced that porn has a lot to do with it. When porn became easily available online, the overly-shaven and plucked porn look became something that men liked seeing. And that translated to women doing it, to be acceptable to men . I'm very aware that the average teenager gets most of their sex knowledge from watching porn - girls and boys. And so the trend continues. I can't see it ending any time soon.

I get my bush wax because I enjoy not being itchy and being able to wipe my wee very cleanly. For me it's hygiene reasons. My husband wouldn't care if I was a Bush or boldie but I prefer being waxed once a month.

This isn't anything new though. Roman preferences were for hairless (men and women) from the face down. They regarded anything else as animalistic and uncivilised. They preferred small genitalia in men for the same reason.
In later eras, body hair was considered a sign of physical maturity/virility and preferred.
It often follows with what is difficult to get. Elizabethan times preferred 'Rubinesque' physiques as food had a scarcity value. Now, gym time and healthy eating is more scarce, so we idolise that. Similarly, when most jobs were agricultural, having a tan demonstrated your menial employment; and ultra-pale was desirable. Now tan = lots of sunny holidays (and or sunbeds/spray tans) = disposable income.
In some eras, hair could be sold for various products. Thus, hair removal was a sign of financial hardship.
It all ebbs and flows.

All the women in Jilly Cooper's famous bonkbusters had pubic hair. There was one mention of shaving-but it was part of foreplay, not "personal grooming". It's all to do with porn-and the changing of men's expectations. As I always say on threads like this, there was a successful campaign in the 1970s to stop the automatic shaving of women on entering the labour ward-it was seen as degrading, infantilising and unnecessary. Now women post on Mumsnet about how ashamed they are at the thought of HCPs seeing them with pubic hair.

It might have been a "thing" in some cultures, but to the average woman in Western culture , it wasn't a "thing" until the last 20 -odd years when the Internet became available in most people's lives.

I became sexually active at 15 and my then bf had had a couple of sexual partners. He told me i shoukd shave it and he actially got a razor and shaved it for me. He left a strip and ive always pretty much shaved or waxed fron then on. The men ive bee eith always said they dont want to fight through hair to get to the clit. Also, get kind of messy on your period. More hygienic for it to not be there i think?

I get an extended bikini wax, about once every two months. Not expensive and doesn’t mean I’m obsessed. Sometimes I go longer and have full bush, I find it far more itchy and uncomfortable than when it’s waxed.

No one should feel pressured either way. Am sure many women do feel they have to conform. But it doesn't follow that other women should have to have their own pubic hair full and bushy.

I have never removed all but I’m beginning to think I might in the coming months.

Under active thyroid hasn’t only thinned my head hair, my pubes are starting to look like they lost a fight with a rabid coyote

Agree, it’s not on for them to comment.
Also, shaving can cause ingrown hair and infection and that’s not what you think any when pregnant

Ffs. If you look at a grown woman and think 'child' that says far more about you than the woman herself, OP. She won't look anything like a child, so your imagination must be filling in the gaps - why even think to compare to a child at all (esp. given many children from circa 9 up will have pubic hair anyway)?

Whenever I've removed it all (for surgery!) I find it horribly sweaty being bald, the sweat collects in the groin and doesn't get wicked away
Even on coolish days... so I know mine is doing a job that needs doing
I shower every day, twice if needed, my hair isn't dirty.
