To ask what in the holy hell have I just been served?

It looks like rat. Please tell me it isn't rat?
I've eaten many a strange thing in my day (I have a weird job that often requires me to) but feel like rat would be a new low.
For context, I'm in Russia and was served it by a non English speaking Housekeeper who I suspect doesn't like me much.
it's rat isn't it?

PushItRealGood · 17/11/2018 17:55
I'm pretty sure that's quail.
CosmicCanary · 17/11/2018 17:55
It us a small bird.
The "tail" bit is a neck then the breast ending in 2 legs.
Have you never seen a chicken neck? It is longer than you think.
Its possibly a pigeon or some other game bird.
Candlelights2345 · 17/11/2018 17:56
Just eat the cabbage type stuff 🙈
SuperstarDJ · 17/11/2018 17:58
Whatever it is, I’d pass. Cut it up and swish it about your plate a bit if you want it to look like you’ve eaten some of it though the danger of doing that is they may serve it to you again tomorrow if they think you liked it
HashtagTeamRaven · 17/11/2018 17:59
Quail is a possibility. We have a lot of quail eggs.
But as PPs have said, I'm not brave enough to eat something I cant confidently identify.
Which is rude, and a waste
sonicshoegazes · 17/11/2018 17:59
Looks like a rat to me...top left you can see eyes/ears and mouth...yack🤢🤢🤮
Beetle76 · 17/11/2018 18:01
Squab? Or perhaps Rabbit?
yoyo1234 · 17/11/2018 18:01
Intrigued here. What is the tail looking thing ( could it actually just be a neck?).
FitzChivalryFarseer · 17/11/2018 18:02
Quail or small game bird would have wings, like a chicken does. It does look distinctly rodent like to me. Are those bones poking out the end of each limb?
FitzChivalryFarseer · 17/11/2018 18:03
Roll it over. Let’s have some more pictures from other angles!
WeirdAndPissedOff · 17/11/2018 18:04
I don't think it's a rodent. While the long thing does look like a tail, I can't see any sign of the other two legs, and there's a lot of meat around the "tail" - more like a breast than a rear end.
MrsChristianTrevelyanGrey · 17/11/2018 18:04
I can see it's face 🤢
EssentialHummus · 17/11/2018 18:05
Russian DH reckons quail and is making approving noises, the weirdo.
MotherOfDragonite · 17/11/2018 18:06
Badger.
All I can think about right now is badger.
PushItRealGood · 17/11/2018 18:07
Quail or small game bird would have wings
It's not unusual to serve quail without the wings. They are so tiny that they are unlikely to be eaten.
This pic is quail.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 17/11/2018 18:08
I’m thinking rabbit?
GenderApostate · 17/11/2018 18:08
It can’t be badger - there’s no rice 😉
Beetle76 · 17/11/2018 18:09
I change my vote to quail. Definitely a bird, rather than a rodent. Rats have narrower chests than hindquarters?
fluffypudcats · 17/11/2018 18:10
I can't get past whether or not it's a dick - some are quite small you know!
mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 17/11/2018 18:10
I am sorry to tell you, I just googled "russian for rat" - here it is:
крыса
krysa
Oysterbabe · 17/11/2018 18:10
It's really small, easily would fit in the Palm of my hand so not likely a dick.
Oh so you've met my ex boyfriend?
Racecardriver · 17/11/2018 18:11
Did she say anything at all? And thing that sounded like krisa by any chance?
UpstartCrow · 17/11/2018 18:11
Its a bird, what looks like the tail is a neck, the 'forelegs' are just the legs. It cant be a rodent because there are no back legs (and they'd have the most meat )
mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 17/11/2018 18:12
Oh, sorry, I misread upthread. It wasn't you, OP, who said it ...housekeeper said something that sounded like krisa, it was someone speculating she might.
wowfudge · 17/11/2018 18:12
I think it's quail too. Too small to be rabbit.
