It looks like rat. Please tell me it isn't rat?
I've eaten many a strange thing in my day (I have a weird job that often requires me to) but feel like rat would be a new low.
For context, I'm in Russia and was served it by a non English speaking Housekeeper who I suspect doesn't like me much.
it's rat isn't it?

ToftyAC · 18/11/2018 20:41
Could it be a young nutria??
thenovice · 18/11/2018 20:48
I can assure that it is not dick - I have been served that in Romania. It was coated in aspic jelly. And no, I don't know what it tastes like! I said I wasn't feeling very hungry.
GabsAlot · 18/11/2018 21:06
eww novice really
i like pigeon i dont know why its not eatn more
caringcarer · 18/11/2018 21:18
I would not be eating it. Can't you find some cereal?
AGHHHH · 18/11/2018 21:24
Also shocked that eating pigeon is a thing in the UK! 😂
VanillaSugary · 18/11/2018 21:36
My ex husband once ate a field rat in Thailand and it still looked like a rat on the plate.
Anyway. It was a quail. I do wish people would RTFT.
Beeziekn33ze · 18/11/2018 21:48
Gabs - I have enjoyed pigeon but a friend was served it undercooked at a dinner party. Afterwards her DP asked her how she managed to eat it, he'd given up. He hadn't noticed the host's cat which had lurked under his DP's chair and enjoyed choice titbits of rare pigeon,
My friend was relieved over the next few days not to hear of the cat needing to go to the vet!
SW6mama · 18/11/2018 23:22
It’s 100% not rat. We have 2 very sweet pet rats and their bodies and legs just aren’t that shape.
haloumi · 19/11/2018 08:29
"It's really small, easily would fit in the Palm of my hand so not likely a dick."
hahahahaaahahaahahahaha!!!!! Best Typo Ever!
TruJay · 19/11/2018 08:43
@haloumi
I agree, had a right chuckle at that
AsIfIWish · 19/11/2018 10:03
If you eat meat, why does it matter? It's all just edible animals and you're not a vegetarian, so....
HashtagTeamRaven · 19/11/2018 11:35
@AsIfIWish for the same reason I'd imagine vegetarians don't eat every single item of food that isn't meat - I'm allowed to have preferences.
AsIfIWish · 19/11/2018 11:47
@HashtagTeamRaven Yes, of course. I guess it just sounded like your worst nightmare, when it's just another animal. Still, I do get it. Personally I'd prefer to eat rat than dog/cat/guinea pig etc!
BruegeITheElder · 19/11/2018 11:47
But it doesn't even look bad. It just looks like a roast bird.
Catsinthecupboard · 19/11/2018 14:47
Duck? Long necked bird.
HashtagTeamRaven · 19/11/2018 15:08
@AsIfIWish I think I'd pick Guinea pig over rat. For some reason eating a herbivore seems more appealing than a carnivore or omnivore. Not 100% why.
My eyes were opened so much in Hong Kong by how picky we are about food in the west in general. Very little goes to waste there.
ItWasntMeItWasIm · 19/11/2018 15:22
"It's really small, easily would fit in the Palm of my hand so not likely a dick."
Is bad I didn't realise it was a typo 😂😂
EBearhug · 19/11/2018 16:08

Proximity in the food chain, increased risk of zoonotic diseases if they eat other animals? (Not a medic, just gut* feeling.)
- Pun unintended, but I left it anyway.
Leapfrog44 · 20/11/2018 11:06
Did you find out?? It can't be a rat unless it's a 2-legged one. Did it have wings?
AGHHHH · 20/11/2018 11:08
@Leapfrog44 quail
Leapfrog44 · 20/11/2018 11:09
BTW I don't eat meat at all but weirdly, I might actually try a rat or squirrel as long as it had lived wild and been killed humanely.
mumto2babyboys · 20/11/2018 17:04
Guys learn from bear grylls.
Unless dodgy meat of any kind that can't be recognised... is cooked thoroughly until it is black on the outside... you are risking catching rabies in foreign countries with poor hygiene and poor pest control.
RespectfullyNo · 07/01/2019 20:33
Right!
