Bridesmaid can’t make my wedding - AIBU?

Totempoler · 12/11/2018 16:22

I’m getting married next year and one of my bridesmaids now can’t come to the wedding because she’s joining the Navy and she’ll be training. AIBU to be furious and think friends shouldn’t do this?!

Yabu. Your wedding us your priority, but not anyone elses.

boooohumbug · 12/11/2018 16:23

Reverse?

iggleypiggly · 12/11/2018 16:23

I’m sure she apologised. Should she hold it on her career for your wedding? You are being unreasonable!

Underpressureidiot · 12/11/2018 16:23

Are you joking? It’s sad that she’s missing it but she’s joining the navy! She’s not going on holiday!

Blessingsdragon1 · 12/11/2018 16:23

😂

Livinglavidal0ca · 12/11/2018 16:23

This can't be real.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 12/11/2018 16:23

Is this a reverse? Boring.

Minniemountain · 12/11/2018 16:24

I'd love to hear the response if she tried to get out of training for your wedding Grin

YABU.

Dorabean · 12/11/2018 16:24

What's a reverse? (Sorry, fairly new-Ish)

LucieMorningstar · 12/11/2018 16:25

Reverse, yes?

I think it’s great ‘your’ friend is joining the navy!!

Blanchedupetitpois · 12/11/2018 16:26

Totally get you being disappointed and upset - but furious seems too much. The navy is wholly inflexible on training, you have to go when they say. She’s probably terribly disappointed to be missing your wedding too.

Friendship is about so much more than one day or one event. In your lifetime, the friendship is worth so much more than whether she can or can’t come to your wedding (because of a very good reason).

LagunaBubbles · 12/11/2018 16:26

Friends shouldn't do what? Have a life that doesnt involve your wedding?

itswinetime · 12/11/2018 16:26

So you want her to delay pursuing her future career for a year so she can be at your wedding?? Totally reasonable! What kind of friend wouldnt do that? I'm sure you have made many similar sacrifices for your friends op?

flossieisbossy · 12/11/2018 16:26

yes , she planned it on purpose just to piss you off > massive sigh

Totempoler · 12/11/2018 16:26

Not a reverse - it is actually my wedding Hmm

OP posts:
MintGreen · 12/11/2018 16:26

I can understand your disappointment, but she can't put her career on hold for the sake of one day. I missed my best friend's wedding because I was away working at the Olympics- I felt dreadful about it on the day but I wasn't about to turn down a once in a lifetime experience for the sake of a party.

RandomObject · 12/11/2018 16:27

You are very self involved and massively unreasonable.

HeresMeh · 12/11/2018 16:27

What's your expectation?

That she'd postpone her career to facilitate your wedding?

explodingkitten · 12/11/2018 16:28

You sound very precious and entitled. Why is your one day more important than her whole career?

LucieMorningstar · 12/11/2018 16:28

Op, why do you think you’re being reasonable being ‘furious’ about your BM joining the Navy?

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2018 16:28

So what do you propose she does? Wait to join the navy until after you’ve got married?

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 12/11/2018 16:29

Really??

Ginger1982 · 12/11/2018 16:29

Dorabean a reverse is when the OP posts the opposite to the truth. So posters think the OP might be the bridesmaid as opposed to the bride. It's a stupid thing to do.

Sowhatifidosnore · 12/11/2018 16:29

YABU Smile and ridiculous. This is a huge thing for her, should she put her future on hold for a wedding? Get another BM

PotteringAlong · 12/11/2018 16:29

So she puts her entire life on hold until after your wedding?! Don’t be ridiculous.

I hope you’ve not conveyed any of this to her...
