Bridesmaid can’t make my wedding - AIBU?

Totempoler · 12/11/2018 16:22

I’m getting married next year and one of my bridesmaids now can’t come to the wedding because she’s joining the Navy and she’ll be training. AIBU to be furious and think friends shouldn’t do this?!

YANBU, what a selfish cow your friend is, of course she should arrange her entire career around your wedding day Flowers

MeMeMeow85 · 12/11/2018 17:05

Your wedding is only special to you and your OH. For everyone else, it is usually just a nice day out and there’s no reason to put their lives on hold. Your reaction seems ridiculous 😂

Justmuddlingalong · 12/11/2018 17:05

It's a bit of an extreme thing to do, just to avoid being a bridesmaid. But what a great excuse. Good on her.

CheeseAndBeans · 12/11/2018 17:05

Yes, YABU. You would expect her to put your wedding - one day - above her entire future?!

00100001 · 12/11/2018 17:06

How dare your friend not put her career on hold for your special day?

So fucking unbelievable that she wants to better herself and serve her country....

She's a selfish cow.

YANBU!!

Bobbiepin · 12/11/2018 17:06

Do you think she joined the navy to get out your wedding?

TSSDNCOP · 12/11/2018 17:06

Living the thought they’ll do a u turn on the Ark Royal so your BM can make your wedding.

LordPickle · 12/11/2018 17:06

This simply cannot be real. Surely no one is this selfish and entitled?

00100001 · 12/11/2018 17:06

;)

FilledSoda · 12/11/2018 17:08

Haha brilliant Grin

FilledSoda · 12/11/2018 17:08

The daily mail will be all over this one.

SassitudeandSparkle · 12/11/2018 17:09
Hmm
Biancadelriosback · 12/11/2018 17:10

Pick less ambitious friends next time

Solenti · 12/11/2018 17:10

GrinGrin😂😂😂

Groovee · 12/11/2018 17:13

YABU!

ghostyslovesheets · 12/11/2018 17:15

she must really dislike you to join the bloody Navy to piss you off!

or, you know, maybe she didn't do it for that reason and everything in the whole world isn't about you and your wedding!

kaldefotter · 12/11/2018 17:16

I think you need to get over yourself, OP. Maybe wake up and realise you’ve become a bridezilla, then sort yourself out before half the people you know are giving you a wide berth.

Notacluewhatthisis · 12/11/2018 17:18

Yabu. And acting like a bad friend

Clionba · 12/11/2018 17:19

Oh this is hilarious! Please, please let it be true GrinGrin!!
Can you imagine delaying your naval career for some obsessed bridezilla, then within three years they're divorced?!

SauvignonBlanche · 12/11/2018 17:22

I’d assumed this was an annoying reverse.
YABVU and need to get your head out a bridal magazine and back into the real world ASAP.

TrippingTheVelvet · 12/11/2018 17:22

What do you think she should do in this situation OP?

Doccc · 12/11/2018 17:23

Sounds like a made up story for the Mail to “pick up” to coincide with armistice day, to supposedly highlight the selfishness of today’s youth, because no one is that unreasonable/insensitive.

PrimalLass · 12/11/2018 17:23

This has to be a joke - right?

Spudlet · 12/11/2018 17:23

Have you considered calling the Navy and asking them to rearrange their training schedule around your big day?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/11/2018 17:23

Grin Brilliant! Definitely worth risking long term unemployment to attend someone else's single day event. (Not!)
