Im absolutely disgusted at this and it shows how far the stigma against social housing tenants has gone.

Regardless of whether they've broken the law, they may well lose their jobs over this. It'd be bad publicity for their employers to keep them on. Serves them right, if that happens.

megletthesecond · 05/11/2018 19:17

EDL / Combat 18 are probably behind it.
Actually, I do hope the police identify and prosecute them. It's bloody evil.

FekkoThePenguin · 05/11/2018 19:18

DeltaG - my MILs best mate - privately educated - lost her mum and auntie there. You take that back.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 05/11/2018 19:19

@Valanice1989 I hope so.

HelenaDove · 05/11/2018 19:22

Excellent point Vallenice Dont some employers have rules regarding social media about not bringing the company into disrepute.

@doubleshotespresso, think about that you’re saying. They’re burning an effigy, you’re talking about burning people. And then talk about depravity?

SuperSuperSuper · 05/11/2018 19:27

I'm glad that Grenfell is back in the headlInes but horrified by the "how". What strange, callous, depraved people.

HelenaDove · 05/11/2018 19:28

The people who did that took the time to make that cardboard tower and to make cut out figures of the people Imagine the time they invested in doing this and how demonstrative of their hatred that is.

KittyLane1 · 05/11/2018 19:29

I highly doubt there people are employed. They probably think "they" took their jobs Hmm

I highly recommend you all stay away from the daily mail comments

PortiaCastis · 05/11/2018 19:29

Trouble is if those cretins lose their jobs they'll be sponging off the state and I dont want my taxes feeding animals.

DeltaG · 05/11/2018 19:31

@FekkoThePenguin

Take what back? It's not clear what you're trying to take issue with.

doubleshotespresso · 05/11/2018 19:35

RoboticMary yes I talk about burning people as they laugh, jeer and joke about the same.

Having attended Grenfell on the night it happened and many many days that followed right up until last month, forever haunted by the smell, horrific stories, beside themselves firefighters and moved to tears by the sheer determination of the community to not be beaten by this, I do sincerely hope these pond life scum are found and if they burned themselves only then might they begin to understand the depravity they displayed.
Thanks for checking but my words were considered .

FekkoThePenguin · 05/11/2018 19:35

pampered princes from the local indy school poking fun at the poor That snotty comment.

smithsally884 · 05/11/2018 19:35

I hardly think burning an effigy on Bonfire night is going to result in a criminal conviction.Effigies of topical personalities are burnt every year.In fact burnin Guy Fawkes is seen by some as Catholic hate .

Bunbunbunny · 05/11/2018 19:36

I hope the bastards are named and loose their jobs, I wouldn’t want to have any dealings with people who find it funny to mock a tragedy. It’s sick, absolutely sick.

HenryInTheTunnel · 05/11/2018 19:40

Interesting question about whether a crime has been committed. I'd argue that it's against public decency, but you could argue that it's not against the law to offend. Perhaps the circulation of the video vs whether it had been kept among themselves will be a factor

Awful, awful behaviour regardless. They should be ashamed of themselves.

kenandbarbie · 05/11/2018 19:40

It is shocking and depraved. I hope they catch them and they are punished.

Figgygal · 05/11/2018 19:41

It'll come out who they are

Stupid sick bastards

DeltaG · 05/11/2018 19:43

I won't take it back, no. There was a thread on here the other day where someone’s state -school educated children were being mocked by private kids for being poor. So it's a reasonable conclusion to come to.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 05/11/2018 19:45

Sick bastards. What goes around comes around and that is true.

PortiaCastis · 05/11/2018 19:45

There are no excuses for these vile scumbags who are mocking the dead, the Grenfell survivors and the emergency services who tried to save those who burned to death do not need this act of racism.

HelenaDove · 05/11/2018 19:47

There is a still photo of some of those involved circulating on facebook. So its possible to share that without sharing the video.

As I said - the privately educated best friend of my mil lost her mum and aunt in that fire. Please think before you make sweeping generalisations.

Henryismyfriend · 05/11/2018 19:48

Whether it's determined to be a crime or not it's absolutely disgusting.

And the first comment about 'free house' - I'm a social housing tennant, paid my rent today, with wages that I earned working. Please tell me how that makes my home free? Please could you point me in the direction of anywhere that 'rents' for free? I've rented for years private and now social and I've yet to come across any free accommodation.
