Im absolutely disgusted at this and it shows how far the stigma against social housing tenants has gone.

Hmm, I've just noticed I wrote about mob violence being 'invited', I meant 'incited', predictive text again.

HelenaDove · 08/11/2018 21:26

i get where you are coming from i remember a case when a mob descended on a doctors house because they couldnt tell the difference between the meaning of the words paedophile and paediatrician..

Only morons would join a vigilante mob, so I guess they can't tell the difference or even spell either.

HelenaDove · 08/11/2018 22:53

I wonder if this will be discussed on Question Time tonight.

Why no one has yet been prosecuted for the Grenfell Tower fire.

Can I ask what crime they have supposedly committed.

I get that it is pretty sick thing to do. Making and burning an effigy of a tower block .

I seem to have by passed all the news

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 11/11/2018 02:43

They’ve been arrested for a public order offence, presumably because they posted the video. That said I doubt it will go to court it it doesn’t need to because at least now everyone knows what scumbags they are. The partner of one is a teacher, don’t much fancy her chances of keeping her job if she was involved with this,

OP posts:
Oliversmumsarmy · 11/11/2018 07:34

So the police have spent umpteen hours on a case that without sounding crass hasn’t actually harmed anyone physically or stolen anything from anyone and probably won’t go to court yet don’t have the resources to come out to investigate a robbery or arrest someone who has an injunction against them for violence/rape/attempted murder and is threatening them in a public place or is attempting to gain entry into their victims home.

I am astounded that this got so far. The police will ignore burglaries and dv but are running around over peoples feelings being hurt.

Yes it was a sick video but the video didn’t kill anyone.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 11/11/2018 10:24

Absolutely that oliversmummy but tbh they needed to act if only to safeguard these idiots because they outed themselves so spectacularly on social media and people were baying for blood.

In effect the police were protecting human life there which kind of trumps burglaries. The idiots who posted this should be made to repay the money they’ve wasted and the police time they have wasted on protecting them.

And the rest of us need to get angry about how underfunded the police service is that these idiots have taken priority over burglaries because there isn’t enough police officers to do both.

Will we need to ignore the annual defacing of war monuments by peeing and vomiting drunks too - as nobody is hurt and murdered by it.

They publicised their vile behaviour, nobody else. They offended a lot of people, and fearful they might have drawn such anger at themselves - they bleated for police protection! They drew the sparse police resources away from more deserving people.

Regardless we need to be glad these vile specimens of humanity are in a minority.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 11/11/2018 10:43

It does sound like the primary object of arrest was their protection, which they wouldn't have needed had they not been so idiotic in the first place. Aside from online trolls and journalists at their door who have they actually needed protection from I wonder? It sounds like their friends and families are still protecting them, and are probably behind closed doors part of the echo chamber that contributed to their behaviour. If a family member of mine did that, I would not be delivering them milk and groceries. But the treatment they are getting is no more than your average celebrity now days who has to endure threatening trolling and door stopping journalists for nothing. They won't suffer long term, they won't loose their jobs, I bet the teacher will be back in classrooms next month. Their behaviour won't be punished and it will set a precedent that this is entirely acceptable and can't be challenged. The problem is we don't have name for it, sick joke doesn't cover it, hate crime is now being commonly accepted as a waste of police time. So it's ok for people to be nasty shits to each other. Great.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 11/11/2018 11:58

If the teacher was involved I sincerely hope she WONT be back in classrooms next month. I wouldn’t want any child of mine taught by someone who could do that. I sincerely hope she had more sense than to be present though.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/11/2018 13:14

I still don't understand why this teacher hasn't been attested. She seems to have got off totally Scot free. I really don't understand.
Am I missing some thing.
Also Would you want her teaching your children. If she thinks its okay to mock innocent little babies and children burning alive/to death.

Oliversmumsarmy · 11/11/2018 15:43

There is s big difference between posting a video on the internet and defacing a war memorial.

One is a sick joke the other is a crime.

I was trying to show that like a lot of mostly women in my friends situation where someone has been violent to them is allowed to do as they please because the police when called don’t come out.

Badbadbunny · 11/11/2018 15:48

I still don't understand why this teacher hasn't been arrested.

Maybe because she hadn't committed an arrestable offence?

user1457017537 · 11/11/2018 16:09

Sorry I have to disagree. I think the people who would act as vigilantes are the same people who would share this. So I don’t think they are in any danger. Just despicable cowardly low life.

StoneofDestiny · 11/11/2018 16:11

She has brought her school in to disrepute, I can't see how she can keep her job. Teachers are supposed to be a good example to children and as such can be judged by higher standards than some other workers. I would imagine her position would be viewed as untenable - because it is.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/11/2018 16:38

Surely the purpose of an arrest - apart from removing an immediate threat to the public - is to question a suspect further, so a decision can be made on whether to charge or not?

Maybe the police felt they got all the info they needed from those who handed themselves in, meaning that it wasn't necessary to arrest the others?

hilbobaggins · 11/11/2018 16:50

But what info could they possibly need? As far as I can see the only reason the police are involved is that they have to be seeing to be doing something by the baying mob. Which is bloody stupid. They must have known immediately by looking at that video that no crime was committed. Last I checked it isnt a crime to express a private opinion in your own private back garden, even if that opinion makes you an absolute wanker.

smithsally884 · 11/11/2018 17:01

FGS they entered an effigy in an effigy competition.
Burning any effigy is not really nice.Who decides where the line is to be drawn.

FekkoThePenguin · 11/11/2018 17:10

The effigy is supposed to be the boogie man - who else did they 'burn'? Mother theresa? The andrex puppy?

HelenaDove · 11/11/2018 17:14

"They publicised their vile behaviour, nobody else. They offended a lot of people, and fearful they might have drawn such anger at themselves - they bleated for police protection! They drew the sparse police resources away from more deserving people."

THIS! They are responsible for their own behaviour nobody else.

Its emotional blackmail to blame members of the public who wanted something done about it.

My posting history shows i care about DV as much as anyone else but if we are doing top trumps how would you feel if the victim of an AGGRAVATED burglary posted that they were pissed off because the police took too long to attend because they were attending an incident where a bloke is in the street shouting obscenities at his ex wifes house.

It is not the fault of the public that there is a shortage of police officers (apart from the members of the general public who voted a certain way) so why are they the ones being blamed.

And as for personal responsibility the only reason these arseholes went to the police themselves was fear of reprisals They only give a shit about themselves.

I saw a post on fb a few days later reffering to "social housing peasants" there is a hostile environment growing towards tenants and this effigy is a high profile example of it.

The competition they may have been having is no excuse for the mocking and threatening behavior and implying people should burn alive/to death for not paying their rent which they did do is threatening behavior and I will not be told any different
