Is she a Russian Blue or have I been ripped off?

Hello MN! Sorry I'm posting for traffic!

I got my beautiful kitten a few weeks ago. I was told she is a Russian Blue. I saw her mother and photos of the Father. However the seller has failed to forward on the family tree I was promised.

To me, she looks like a Russian Blue but I've noticed sometimes I can see she has stripes? Anyone have an experience with Russian Blues or know how I can check?

TIA

That’s normal

CoderMum · 26/10/2018 13:13

Russian Blues are all tabby crosses - it was done to keep diversity in the gene pool.

JuneFromBethesda · 26/10/2018 13:19

I have no idea but my goodness she’s beautiful (and I’m a dog person!)

FekkoThePenguin · 26/10/2018 13:20

You are just kitty-bragging aren't you? Gorgeous creature!

BlueCurious · 26/10/2018 13:23

She is beautiful Grin! But the lack of family tree and the stripes concerned me!

She is absolutely gorgeous.

Some Russian Blues do have 'ghost stripes' which are a reminder of their tabby genes.

If she is a pedigree you should have had pedigree papers with her full pedigree name on. She is lovely though Smile.

My pedigree Siamese came with papers with their names on and their parents names on.

Cautionsharpblade · 26/10/2018 13:30

It’s hard to tell. Please could you post more photos? Lots more photos.

LiquoricePickle · 26/10/2018 13:30

She's beautiful.

florafawna · 26/10/2018 13:31

She looks more grey, than blue to me. Maybe you have been ripped-off. She is gorgeous for all that though!

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 26/10/2018 13:31

Unless she’s a properly registered pedigree with papers you really can’t be sure. She’s gorgeous though, does it matter if she’s a perfect breed?

Cornettoninja · 26/10/2018 13:32

Hmmm I may need to cat sit for a couple hours to tell....

She’s beautiful

Stormsurfer · 26/10/2018 13:32

My Russian blues have had faintly striped tails. Yours certainly has the correct face shape, eyes and build. She's adorable.

MirandaWest · 26/10/2018 13:32

Oh she’s lovely Smile I love it when cats haven’t grown into their ears yet Smile

TeddyIsaHe · 26/10/2018 13:33

Yes, we need more photos to double check!

Ellieboolou27 · 26/10/2018 13:33

My Russian Blue came from a traveling family, no history, took him to vets and they said he is a Russian blue, his 18 now, he does have stripes in certain lights.
What’s the name? Beautiful kitty!

FekkoThePenguin · 26/10/2018 13:34

A video would really really help.

Ellieboolou27 · 26/10/2018 13:34

Look at those perfectly pink pads, makes me want another kitten!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/10/2018 13:34

That faaaaaaaace! Those ears! What a sweetie!

ooodile · 26/10/2018 13:34

Never thought I'd ever want to own a cat until now!

Biscuitsneeded · 26/10/2018 13:35

I have no idea, but I expect you love her now so hopefully her pedigree or lack of is not really an issue. Nobody likes to be duped but she's a lovely, pretty little cat. Enjoy.

steff13 · 26/10/2018 13:36

Toe beans!

UtterlyDesperate · 26/10/2018 13:36

Definitely can't be sure without lots of more pictures Grin

If you paid a pedigree price, then you should have received the relevant paperwork with her. If you have just been told she is, but she's not registered, then you will have to take it on trust (she surely looks like it) but as you presumably didn't pay the pedigree price, that's the trade off. As pp have said, faint stripes aren't uncommon. Even if she's not - she's gorgeous!

cricketmum84 · 26/10/2018 13:37

We definitely need more photos to make a decision. Also home visits and cat sitting.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/10/2018 13:41

I once had a Russian blue cross with regular moggy and he was grey all over with a stripy tail. His name was matrix and he was the greatest damn cat to ever walk this Earth.

Your kitten is gorgeous OP Smile
