Is she a Russian Blue or have I been ripped off?

Hello MN! Sorry I'm posting for traffic!

I got my beautiful kitten a few weeks ago. I was told she is a Russian Blue. I saw her mother and photos of the Father. However the seller has failed to forward on the family tree I was promised.

To me, she looks like a Russian Blue but I've noticed sometimes I can see she has stripes? Anyone have an experience with Russian Blues or know how I can check?

TIA

You would if you had paid extra because they told you it was dearer because it was oak!

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 26/10/2018 15:40

cutthedrivel Grin

You are tragically mistaken- she's definitely a Blunsdon Blue, so not your specialism at all. Fortunately for the OP, I know an absolutely lovely lady who will be willing to take the cat off the OP's hands. Grin

There are some strange people on here...
You've paid for a pure bred cat, so if the sellers don't come up with the paperwork contact Trading Standards.

She's lovely...

But that is my point. I wouldn't pay dearer because they told me so. They'd have to prove it!

surlycurly · 26/10/2018 15:52

Both my Russian blues have/ had stripes. But they look grey. You can only see the stripes in the correct light.

surlycurly · 26/10/2018 15:52

And she's a stunner! I'm very jealous 😍

Mia184 · 26/10/2018 15:55

My aunt has a cat with similar features. However, Rusha (the cat's name) was thrown into my aunt's car when she was visiting a very poor family in Northern Albania to provide humanitarian aid. So it is very unlikely that she is a Russian Blue or other pedigree cat. But she is a beautiful cat nonetheless!

If you still have a copy of the advert or just google the mobile number and that should bring it up along with any other adverts. Put the number into Facebook as well
If it mentions in the add that it’s a pedigree with papers then ask the breeder for the papers and send them a copy of the advert

if she won’t send them thenpetsonally I would report them to trading standards and HMRC and if you wanted to be a real bitch DWP 😂

agnurse · 26/10/2018 16:03

I do not know much about cat breeds but had to comment. She VERY pretty girl!

UpstartCrow · 26/10/2018 16:04

If you weren't given the pedigree at the time of purchase then contact Trading Standards. There have been court rulings about this that go in the pet owners favour. you paid for papers and were promised them.
(You wont have to return your pet as some people claim.)
Unless buyers start to chase up breeders in court, they'll keep on pulling this stunt and getting away with it.

agnurse · 26/10/2018 16:07

I am loving all the mog pics. I'm very fond of cats and we have three. (One medium hair ginger tom, one tuxedo queen, and one small grey tabby tom.) They nice.

FeckTheMagicDragon · 26/10/2018 16:10

She looks like my two, I got the papers after I provided proof of neutering. Maybe have a chat with the breeder?

FloofyDoof · 26/10/2018 16:12

So many pretty kitties! Here's mine. He's not a Russian Blue though, just a grey cat.

People making the oak wood table analogy - stop.

You may more for oak and would expect it to be oak because its a sign of quality and wear. If the table turns out not to br oak, you are getting an entirely different product.

A cats pedigree means fuck all other than aesthetics. In fact, pedigrees tend to be physically weaker.

So the OP got the aesthetics she was looking for. For her purposes, her cat is the exact same "product" whether or not it has the paperwork. So what does it matter?

OlennasWimple · 26/10/2018 16:15

You're going to lose her on your sofa - she looks the same colour Smile

BrightLightsAndSound · 26/10/2018 16:15

Its like imagine i wanted a silk top.

It better be silk and not synthetic, because how it drapes and washes and feels is important.

Now imagine i had my heart set on a silk top FROM FRANCE. Who cares if i dont get the paperwork proving its from France? Its a silk top.

FekkoThePenguin · 26/10/2018 16:19

(but its not oak)...

FekkoThePenguin · 26/10/2018 16:19

FloofyDoof - thats a vampire cat!

Rebecca36 · 26/10/2018 16:22

She certainly looks like a Russian blue. You don't always see the stripes or, should say, only occasionally do you actually see the stripes. You will see a blue hue in certain lights. She also has the characteristic peridot eyes.

I had a beautiful Russian blue but no pedigree.

They are beautiful, intelligent and kind cats.

irunlikeahipoo · 26/10/2018 16:23

It matters because the OP probably paid double the amount of money for a pedigree cat that probably isn’t a pedigree cat

I agree that technically she has the cat that she wants but she might not
It could be a cross breed with another cat and as the op said she had allergies she could end up,having to regime the cat at a later stage

I’m a dog person ,so if I paid for a KC registered pedigree dog and ended up with a none KC registered dog the difference in price can be huge and I would be fuming .
Not that I would be silly enough to hand over £1000 plus for a dog if I hadn’t seen the parents & the paperwork and signed everything on the day of collection
Breeders rely on people falling in love with the cute puppy or kitten that’s they pick and not asking the right questions

FloofyDoof · 26/10/2018 16:26

@FekkoThePenguin He's a happy little vampire though, I love his goofy little fangs!

agnurse · 26/10/2018 16:36

Floofydoof

He sure does look to be a happy little vampire! He loves him mum. I can tell from the pic where you're petting him.

QueenOfMyWorld · 26/10/2018 16:37

I'm totally a dog person but she is stunning

Villanelle123 · 26/10/2018 16:41
