Bride changing surname 1 week before wedding?

Ambs81 · 08/08/2018 14:33

I spotted this week that my future SIL has already updated her social media profiles to her married surname 9 days before their wedding.
I guess she's excited but it just seems strange, surely people will be presuming she's married now?
I left it a couple of weeks, and had updated bank etc before I did facebook.
AIBU to think she's acting like a bunny boiler?

Yes you are being unreasonable. What's it to you. She's probably just excited. Each to their own. The bunny boiler comment is just uncalled for.

specialsubject · 08/08/2018 14:35

she can't do it legally until she has the marriage certificate. I would think most invited to the wedding will assume that they aren't yet married.

but this is facebook, she can call herself what she likes. Perhaps after the wedding she is off for two weeks shagging and sunning and might possibly be off the internet?

Buffythevampireslayerr · 08/08/2018 14:36

Yes, YABU. She can do what she likes. The fact that it bothers you is really weird.

Shitonthebloodything · 08/08/2018 14:37

Why does it bother you?

sonjadog · 08/08/2018 14:38

In what way does that make her a bunny boiler? I don't get it. I assume the wedding is very likely to go ahead, in which case surely she is just a little over-excited and over-keen?

Nicknacky · 08/08/2018 14:39

Acting like a bunny boiler!? She's just excited.

Ambs81 · 08/08/2018 14:40

I think it reeks of immaturity and insecurity.
If the most exciting thing about getting married is changing your name then you should be considering why you're getting married.
I don't get it, I wouldn't change my job title 9 days before I started a new job or promotion.

Do you actually know what a bunny boiler is?

dingdongdigeridoo · 08/08/2018 14:41

Oh bless, she’s excited. I remember looking forward to changing my surname. It’s not like she’s done it after the third date, they’re getting married in a couple of weeks.

And I don't think you like your future SIL do you?

Chucklecheeks1 · 08/08/2018 14:42

Immaturity and insecurity?

You mean like coming on a public forum to get backing for your immature and insecure comment regarding someones excitement about getting married?

Snipples · 08/08/2018 14:42

God you're clearly going to be the SIL from hell.

Sorry, "Future" SIL. I got over excited and bunny boiler like there. Oops

Blostma · 08/08/2018 14:42

I am really glad you are not my SIL. Your comments are mean spirited and unnecessary. I hope you find some good will towards her before the actual day.

Ohlellykelly · 08/08/2018 14:44

Sneery that.Grin

MorrisZapp · 08/08/2018 14:44

Your post drips with misogyny.

Bunny boiler, wtf?

She can change her name at any time and for any reason she likes. I think the keen part is a given, what with her getting married to the guy.

LuluBellaBlue · 08/08/2018 14:44

I’m wondering if she now has your surname or your old surname and it’s triggering something to make you so angry?
Not being goady but your reaction isn’t normal so there’s obviously something more there to trigger this reaction in yourself.

susurration · 08/08/2018 14:44

I take it you don't like your SiL then?

Ohlellykelly · 08/08/2018 14:44

Ffs why does my phone ruin my posts Angry

antipodeankat · 08/08/2018 14:45

I think it is a bit over-keen to change your name on social media before the wedding.

TheFaerieQueene · 08/08/2018 14:46

What an unpleasant thread to start.

Trumpodious · 08/08/2018 14:46

Perhaps she's changed her passport/bank/driving licence already. Can't see any problem whenever she does it.

Laureline · 08/08/2018 14:46

Why would you care?
And calling her insecure and immature - nice.

KidLorneRoll · 08/08/2018 14:46

"I think it reeks of immaturity and insecurity."

Don't be a knob.

rainingcatsanddog · 08/08/2018 14:48
