Aibu

So did a huge shop a few weeks agai double what o normally buy and dh is moaning yet again their is no food

I may add he has decided that he is going on a special diet

We can not really afford anyone in the family eating differently and it’s meaning we’re going through about 9 pints of milk a week
But what ever he told me it’s because i am not meal planning effectively enough

So this week I meal plan with in a inch of my life went shopping 3 days ago

Their is no milk again
No bread no crisps
No cheese
No eggs

I have had non of these items I bought fucking 10 eggs

And I have literally got back from the shop to get my stuff for lunch for the next 3 days

So tonight’s dinners need eggs and cheese I have told dh and fucking ds 18 that I will not be returning to the shop I have been twice today as it is and I am not going to the supermarket daily to replace what their guzzling

Ds 18 is doing fuck all at the moment barr eating i refuse to spend my free time going to and from the fucking supermarket I only get two days off a week
So they can go the fucking shop themselves I told dd when I get back from work tomorrow my expectation will be he will have been to the shop

I have cooked for the kids but not for dh or ds who is currently refusing to go to the shop though he with dh are the worst offenders it’s not the eating of the food it’s the expectation that I will just keep going back and fucking forth like I have nothing else to bloody do

Oh and I also sick of ds leaving a dribble of juice in the jug so he doesn’t have to refil it

And if dh wants to indulge in protein shakes that take pints and pints of milk then he needs to fucking make sure their is enough sick of waking up at 6 am to realise their is no milk for the kids and having to cobble something else

Confused
DontTouchTheMoustache · 23/07/2018 18:23

I think you need some Gin op

madeyemoodysmum · 23/07/2018 18:25

Let it out girl 🍸

TheQueef · 23/07/2018 18:25

Ah my DS is on some super expensive meat and protein diet.
I feel your pain.

ImAGoofyGoober · 23/07/2018 18:25

Refuse to cater for the special diet. Buy what will reasonably last the week and when it runs out, it runs out.
I’d take a couple of things and put them away for yourself, you know like crisps, biscuits etc. Hide them in your wardrobe!

Do you feel better for a rant?

Metoodear · 23/07/2018 18:26

I am at the frigging end ds is already in XXl clothing he just sits and eats not to bad when he was at collage but now he’s just at home he’s in full swing

How can you have shopped a few weeks ago, don't you shop every week?
I'd sit everyone down and do a menu plan, then have them shop with you seeing the prices and maybe they will realize what things have been bought for.
What about Dh getting a case of UHT milk for the protein drinks, and then he has to only use that, not the kids milk.

tealandteal · 23/07/2018 18:28

He should be buying extra milk or just mixing the protein with water or a nut milk. Show him your meal plan and tell him what you need for the week and what is spare. Or ask him to meal plan.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 23/07/2018 18:28

Hmm that is a bit concerning about your ds, have you spoken to him about his weight?

Singlenotsingle · 23/07/2018 18:29

She's right. DH needs to call in at the shop on his way home and buy milk. etc for himself plus whatever else he needs for his diet.

Troels · 23/07/2018 18:29

If Ds is eating everything in sight, what about a box in the boot of the car, bring in one pack of biscuits each night and a 6 pack of crisps or something. I think I'd ingredients buy dinner each night on the way home (except for things they don't touch while you are out)

LovingLola · 23/07/2018 18:30

ds is already in XXl clothing

Is he morbidly obese? It sounds as if he must be if he is eating all day and doing nothing else?

Metoodear · 23/07/2018 18:30

Yes I am just so pissed they treat me like my time is with nothing like I don’t work have a house to run and 3 other children

Ds 18 has been sat on his frigging arse for 3 weeks doing nothing

And dh seems only able to get to the shop for protein shite

You bought ten eggs for what appears to be at least 5 people, 3 days ago.

So an average of two each eaten in 3 days.

That doesn't seem excessive to me.

MrsGrindah · 23/07/2018 18:31

Strange high protein diet that includes crisps!

There’s are three issues here

  1. Why are you the one that has to restock when anything runs out?
  2. If you are happy to do the shopping it does sound as if you need to increase the amounts however ridiculous they may seem. 10 eggs ( odd amount to buy, they usually come in 6s) would last me very long tbh.
  3. Can your shoppping budget actually cover this?
QuiteCleanBandit · 23/07/2018 18:32

Totally feel your pain
What stopped it was just refusing to buy more -gone is gone!
Work lunches-take ham, cheese salad etc to work and stash fruit/nice stuff etc

MrsGrindah · 23/07/2018 18:33

Wouldn’t last me very long, that should say

Fadingmemory · 23/07/2018 18:33

Leave a note pad & pen in the kitchen headed with the day you will next go shopping. If it’s not put on the list, it’s not bought. If either finishes an item, he adds it to the list. If they can’t be bothered, leave them to it. You are not a servant. Text them to buy last minute/“emergency” items.

Timeisslippingaway · 23/07/2018 18:33

OP are you me 😂.
I don't have an older son but this is what my DP does, special diets all the time. Goes through a pack of 10 eggs in 2 days, I've to have a constant supply of meat in for him just for his lunch. My oldest DS drinks bloody milk like it's going out of fashion.
As soon as I buy biscuits, crisps etc they are all gone that night. I'll buy maybe 5bdifferent packs in a shop to last the week. They last a day! He will take a full pack of biscuits just for 1 cup of tea then complains he's feeling to fat and needs to go back on his diet! 🤔. Aw you have given me the rage now OP good job DP isn't here or he would probably be getting a right mouthful.

LokiBear · 23/07/2018 18:33

Yanbu!

nokidshere · 23/07/2018 18:34

I do a weekly shop for 4 of us and if it runs out or they want something I haven't bought they pay and shop for it themselves.

As for eggs, we go through about 30 a week!

Timeisslippingaway · 23/07/2018 18:34

I actually have to god juice and snacks I buy for the kids lunch boxes because he eats the lot in one sitting!

crazycatgal · 23/07/2018 18:35

10 eggs doesn't seem like a lot for everyone to have got through in 3 days.

keyboardkate · 23/07/2018 18:36

I think you are enabling them big time. Why should it be YOU that gets the shopping and is so stressed!

Cater/cook for yourself and your other DCs and give laz DS and protein head DH free rein to buy what they want. Then it's not your problem if it runs out.

Seems to me like you are the maid/housekeeper.
