Aibu

So did a huge shop a few weeks agai double what o normally buy and dh is moaning yet again their is no food

I may add he has decided that he is going on a special diet

We can not really afford anyone in the family eating differently and it’s meaning we’re going through about 9 pints of milk a week
But what ever he told me it’s because i am not meal planning effectively enough

So this week I meal plan with in a inch of my life went shopping 3 days ago

Their is no milk again
No bread no crisps
No cheese
No eggs

I have had non of these items I bought fucking 10 eggs

And I have literally got back from the shop to get my stuff for lunch for the next 3 days

So tonight’s dinners need eggs and cheese I have told dh and fucking ds 18 that I will not be returning to the shop I have been twice today as it is and I am not going to the supermarket daily to replace what their guzzling

Ds 18 is doing fuck all at the moment barr eating i refuse to spend my free time going to and from the fucking supermarket I only get two days off a week
So they can go the fucking shop themselves I told dd when I get back from work tomorrow my expectation will be he will have been to the shop

I have cooked for the kids but not for dh or ds who is currently refusing to go to the shop though he with dh are the worst offenders it’s not the eating of the food it’s the expectation that I will just keep going back and fucking forth like I have nothing else to bloody do

Oh and I also sick of ds leaving a dribble of juice in the jug so he doesn’t have to refil it

Did it involve eating?

diddl · 23/07/2018 19:19

How do they have no idea what food is needed for meals?

sueelleker · 23/07/2018 19:19

Buy a drug fridge like they use in hospitals-they come with a built-in lock. Or like this one from amazon.
bar@drinkstuff ChillQuiet Mini Fridge 17ltr White - Lockable - Quiet Running Table Top Mini Bar [Energy Class B]
Buy new:
£84.99

FurryDice · 23/07/2018 19:20

This would drive me insane

sashh · 23/07/2018 19:23

You can get lockable fridges from medical suppliers and on ebay.

With the milk OP freeze it, either freeze whole plastic bottle and defrost one every day or for drinks do it in ice cube trays, just Freeze the bread and cheese too.

You can toast bread from frozen.

Put a lock on a cupboard for crisps and snacks, open it once a day for everyone to get a treat.

Thesearepearls · 23/07/2018 19:23

How about this OP?

You stock the fridge full of fish and salad (I do this hehe) and mysteriously forget to buy bread and milk and eggs. It's not that eggs are bad per se but nutty kids will insist on eating 6 boiled eggs a day following some internet guru. Lots of red and yellow peppers. Lots of cucumbers. Celery. Radishes. Mix it up with aubergines and courgettes and onions and tell them they can make ratatouille.

Go innocent and suggest that we should all be eating healthily. Throw in a bit of quinoa and pomegranate seeds. The odd melon or two. Tomatoes are your friend. Everyone loves a tomato.

If they don't like the food in the fridge of course they are all welcome to go and (pay for) unhealthy stuff that will make them fat. Suggest they snack on the lovely sweet red peppers. Perhaps they could dip the red peppers into the salmon mousse they could make with the cream cheese and salmon in the fridge!

But I do allow them some bacon occasionally and chicken too it must be said.

This is an opportunity for you OP. You are in charge of the shopping. That makes you the food dictator (ha!).

paceyswife · 23/07/2018 19:25

Have you thought about getting a couple of chickens 🐔?

I like your style, Thesearepearls.

Was it something to do with vouchers? Apologies if not, but it reminded me of another post I'd seen a while back.

huggybear · 23/07/2018 19:32

I'm laughing at the egg thing - I think it's a lot - who eats eggs every day?!

Undercoverbanana · 23/07/2018 19:37

I eat 2 scrambled eggs every morning huggybear

KittyHawke80 · 23/07/2018 19:39

No-one. But it’s ten, in three days, between five people.

crazycatgal · 23/07/2018 19:41

I have 2 eggs for breakfast every day.

KokoandAllBall · 23/07/2018 19:45

Isn't it lucky there are two other adults in the house capable of meal planning and shopping?

Get in the staples you eat, let him figure out the rest. Don't let him act like he is your boss ffs.

XiCi · 23/07/2018 19:49

Most people I know have eggs for breakfast every day!
OP you sound frazzled. Order your big weekly shop online, it makes life so much easier, then dh/ds can run to the shops if you need more bread and milk

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 23/07/2018 19:50

But he did somthing and had to resign - did he eat all the pies Op?

Honestly I feel your rage. Who appointed you as the unpaid skivvy and cook. Tell DH he is responsible for buying his own milk & any other special shit he needs. Tell him he will be taking over the cooking several times a week & he is responsible for making sure he has the ingredients. It sounds as though online shopping would help but only if your two Billy Bunters stop eating all the bloody food. TBH I would be trying to persuade DH & DS to move out and set up home together - problem solved.

MrsGrindah · 23/07/2018 19:51

Yep a two egg cheese omelette here every day

Please don't buy or cook for your 18 year old and DH anymore. Give your 18 year old a cupboard and food money.

Let him earn his own bloody money!

Buildabear · 23/07/2018 20:01

10 eggs isn’t a lot Confused and we go through 6 pints a day so seems reasonable usage

QueenOfMyWorld · 23/07/2018 20:02

You can make protein drinks with water

TittyGolightly · 23/07/2018 20:03

How would you put a lock on a fridge or freezer. I've heard it is dangerous to drill holes in a fridge door etc. Just curious.

Chain around it and through the handle with a padlock.

Passthecake30 · 23/07/2018 20:07

Can you get a delivery pass, and get 2 shops delivered a week, no actual going to the shops needed?

Metoodear · 23/07/2018 20:10

He’s the only one here the kids are at childminders and me and dh are at work so the bulk of the week it’s just him

Don't buy snacks for a while ( or buy just for you & hide them) if DS wants them he can walk to the shops, good exercise.

Do a basic online shop every week, boring regular stuff & get a shedload of basics from Aldi /Lidl so you always have easy cook meals the kids DH can do themselves (pasta, sauces, MW rice etc)

Inform them all especially "D" H you are standing down as housekeeper, cook AND bottlewasher & its time they learned to take turns & look after themselves.

Get a large GIn & Tonic or whatever your tipple is & sit in the garden with your book preferably with some nice music & headphones in.

Fuck the lot of 'em !! :)
