Disappointing to see Meghan morphing into Kate?

I've just seen the pictures of the Royal Family on the balcony for the Trooping of the Colour parade and it really seems like Meghan is being turned into a Kate clone, with the slightly odd old fashioned clothes and badly curled hair? I had hoped they palace would let her be herself.

She looks just like Christine Lampard in that pic

NotAnotherUserName5 · 09/06/2018 13:27

I think she looks great. Fitted and flattering clothing.

What do you think she should be wearing?

Melliegrantfirstlady · 09/06/2018 13:27

There is a dress code? surely you realise this by now if you are interested in the royal family?

Both Kate and Megan are following the dress code Shock

I really don’t like either hats

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 09/06/2018 13:29

There's another thread on Chat scandalised that she has worn something inappropriate

As you say she looks very similar to Kate and has clearly followed dress code.

I think people enjoy finding fault with her.

FASH84 · 09/06/2018 13:29

There's a strict royal dress code. Her very demure, plain wedding dress was not her former style, but an indicator of things to come.

rosesandflowers · 09/06/2018 13:30

I think she looks lovely.

But she definitely has looked a lot more like Kate after the wedding. I think it's a bit disappointing too.

MiniCooperLover · 09/06/2018 13:31

I don't enjoy finding fault with her, it's an opinion and I am allowed to have it? She looks completely different to how she generally looks and clearly that is the palace influence. There are probably plenty of ways to dress smartly and demurely without looking 10 years older than she generally does.

OP posts:
rosesandflowers · 09/06/2018 13:32

Kate's style has changed a bit as well. Especially at this event, she looks much much older in her style of dress. Much more severe and matronly.

Bridechilla · 09/06/2018 13:32

Their outfits age them both a decade or more. Proper MOTB territory Hmm why on earth do grown women need to live by a dress code, ridiculous!

Clionba · 09/06/2018 13:33

"old fashioned clothes" Confused??
She's not going to be wearing a vest top and distressed jeans is she? Grin

silverpenguin · 09/06/2018 13:34

Ha this is so funny there is another thread where someone is scandalised because her dress is apparently too revealing. On this thread it's too conservative. She can't win!

lettuceWrap · 09/06/2018 13:34

It’s a formal event- they are, therefore, wearing formal clothing 🤷‍♀️

MiniCooperLover · 09/06/2018 13:34

They are both beautiful young women and plenty of the outfits at Meghan's wedding proved you could dress both appropriately and pretty, but no they're both stuck in pastels and enormous hats. Surely there can be a middle ground?

OP posts:
Clionba · 09/06/2018 13:35

Well, style is subjective. I think they both look elegant and lovely. I like Kate's pale blue dress with the square neck line. Meghan likes the bateau style. Both appropriate for the event.

KellyBailey · 09/06/2018 13:35

She looks completely different to how she generally looks and clearly that is the palace influence

Well, yeah. It's fairly obvious that she will have to have a certain image now she's in the royal family, kind of goes with the territory, she's not exactly going to be walking around in a Matalan dress like the majority of us. I think her and Kate look fine.

SexyManatee · 09/06/2018 13:35

Is her hair badly curled?

JennyHolzersGhost · 09/06/2018 13:36

She’s using Kate’s stylist at the moment as an interim measure apparently. She’s going to hire her own so presumably her look will evolve a bit once her staff are in place.
I hate that dress btw. Hideous. Way too 80s. Nice colour on her though.

This is on my active threads right under another thread criticising MM for wearing a dress that was too revealing.

Can you people talk to each other so we only have one MM hate thread at a time? TIA

It's lovely out there and I am going to spend the rest of the day lazing in the garden. One of many things that you could be doing OP!

catherinedevalois · 09/06/2018 13:38

What is this fashion of wearing a fucking plate on one's head? And it's not even ON Kate's head, it looks like someone's just stuck it to her face. I despair.

x2boys · 09/06/2018 13:38

they are both slim, brunette and pretty, youngish women thats as far as the similarity goes , but im sure theres a protocol they cant just wear what they want .

MiniCooperLover · 09/06/2018 13:39

At no point have I made this another MM hating thread, I'm just saying it's a shame the palace have changed her look so much so quickly. And as this is a public forum if I feel like typing this I shall.. feel free to pop out to your garden or whatever and I'll do whatever I shall like thanks !!

welcomething · 09/06/2018 13:39

Another 'rip people apart for their choices' thread.

How about we all get a big fucking grip and look in the mirror

SurfingSally · 09/06/2018 13:44

I think you're being naive to think the palace would 'let her be herself'.

Her and Harry are too close to the top job. She'll never have control over what she wears or does, where she lives, where her kids go to school or live or anything else...the same as KM doesn't.

People say MM will find it easier being used to the spotlight. I think the opposite...I think once the novelty has worn off she'll find it infinitely more difficult as she still has the celebrity, the attention, the photos and spotlight and all that...but without any of the freedoms or autonomy she had when she was 'just' an actress.

Clionba · 09/06/2018 13:44

Why is MOTB an insult? Let's criticise men's style by saying "he looks a bit Father of the Groom"!!
