Disappointing to see Meghan morphing into Kate?

I've just seen the pictures of the Royal Family on the balcony for the Trooping of the Colour parade and it really seems like Meghan is being turned into a Kate clone, with the slightly odd old fashioned clothes and badly curled hair? I had hoped they palace would let her be herself.

Disappointing to see Meghan morphing into Kate?

As pp have said it's a work uniform. However, I'm a bit surprised she's allowed to wear something so off the shoulder for trooping of the colour.

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/06/2018 14:26

Meghan looks a bit frumpy there. I don’t like the colour of her outfit next to Kate’s much brighter blue. Seeing as they’re using the same stylist, it would have been nice to have thought about not giving Meghan clothes, which will look unflattering against Kate.

binglyboo · 09/06/2018 14:26

I feel a bit sad seeing Meghan in such an ugly dress. Kate sold her soul years ago so she deserves a life of coat dresses, but I had hopes for Meghan Sad

Clarioncall · 09/06/2018 14:27

"Allowed to wear", well I think anything goes these days, don't you?

Thinkingofausername1 · 09/06/2018 14:28

Kate doesn't look to happy in that photo. But still Beautiful even though she's not happy.

The only events we've seen Meghan attend since the wedding (garden party and Trooping the Colour) are both very formal traditional ones where the dress code for royal women is essentially an update of what the Queen Mother was wearing in the 1940s. Pastels, everything matching, hat, clutch bag, stockings, heels. (Gloves, pearls and fur stole have gone by the wayside though).

As PP have said, it's a work uniform which tells us nothing about what Meghan (or Kate) wears in private life.

Thought they both looked lovely and appropriate. I like that colour on Kate and also the square neckline.

Oddcat · 09/06/2018 14:34

For those that don't like her outfit , can you post a picture of what you think she should wear , I'm interested to see other options.

mistermagpie · 09/06/2018 14:36

I think she looks nice! I'm not sure what everyone else is seeing that I'm not. I wouldn't wear it myself but I'm very unlikely to ever be invited to Buckingham Palace...

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/06/2018 14:36

I'm younger than both of them and I don't really get the hate for either outfit tbh. It's a formal event and their dresses seem entirely appropriate to me. I particularly like Kate's actually - the colour is really nice on her. If I had her figure (I so do not!) I would quite happily wear something like that for work or a formal do.

lifechangesforever · 09/06/2018 14:37

Oh another Meghan thread.. she looks absolutely nothing like Kate or any imitation of her style.

She looks lovely and classy. It's something I would gladly wear to a posh wedding if I ever got invited to one.

whiteonred · 09/06/2018 14:38

Apparently someone fell off their horse (misses point of thread).

marjorie25 · 09/06/2018 14:38

Meghan knew when she accepted Harry's proposal that her life will change.

If she thought that she would still be allowed to wear torn jeans, skimpy clothing well she is in for a rude awakening.
She is in the public eye and there are protocols to follow as a member of the Royal family.
She had a choice, no one forced her.
For those who think that she will be changing the RF, I have a pig to sell you that can fly.

GladAllOver · 09/06/2018 14:39

However, I'm a bit surprised she's allowed to wear something so off the shoulder for trooping of the colour.
I thought everyone was pleased that she 'was doing her own thing' and breathing fresh life into the royals. Why should she be told what 'uniform' to wear?

RoseWhiteTips · 09/06/2018 14:40

Pinkgeorge

She looks just like Christine Lampard in that pic

Oh now that is not a compliment...

Thought the bare-shouldered look was a bit of a blunder.

Quirkyturkey · 09/06/2018 14:41

I think I'm in the minority here. I think Kate looks lovely - channeling a 40s 'Mrs 'Minniver' style. Would rather it was a stronger colour though. As for Meghan, give the girl a break. I'm sure she'll develop her own style for these occasions given time.

Oddcat · 09/06/2018 14:43

Whiteonred I reckon Lord Guthrie was unwell and fell off his horse , hope he's ok.

Quirkyturkey · 09/06/2018 14:44

Just realised I used 'style' twice in three lines - must expand my vocabulary. Grin

TumbleTussocks · 09/06/2018 14:44

I think Meghan looks absolutely stunning.
Hate Kate's hat.
I'm MOTB age (DD13)

Justrunwithit · 09/06/2018 14:44

Yeah but I think kate strikes a good balance of being Perfect in Public these days. I sort of love that she goes for such bonkersish pastel formal styles, almost quite fifties in formality. Why wouldn’t she, it’s her quirky thing. Off duty she seems to be all Bretons and jeans and sneakers.

chickywoo · 09/06/2018 14:45

I think she looks beautiful, I was wondering if camilla, the queen and Kate didn’t tell her about the matchy matchy idea or wether she knew but decided not to join in?

Justrunwithit · 09/06/2018 14:46

quirky I think we are saying the same thing! I’d love to have the courage (and figure, and beauty) to pull off the Miss Miniver look in pastel blue! It actually gives her a perfectly respectable style away from other celebs.
