Disappointing to see Meghan morphing into Kate?

I've just seen the pictures of the Royal Family on the balcony for the Trooping of the Colour parade and it really seems like Meghan is being turned into a Kate clone, with the slightly odd old fashioned clothes and badly curled hair? I had hoped they palace would let her be herself.

Disappointing to see Meghan morphing into Kate?

Brilliant. Yet another thread on MN with women shaming other women. Hmm

MrsJayy · 10/06/2018 09:22

Not everybody is shaming them Confused

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 09:30

“Leeches”. I know, leeches, let’s forget how much money their presence brings to the country

The royal family cost us a fortune, and they don't bring anything into the country. Tourists don't visit the UK just because of one over privileged elite family. Buck house isn't even in the top 20 of places visited.

Even the tourist board accept that royal palaces aren't on visitors lists of places to visit. If we had no royals our tourism would most likely increase, because of the empty palaces. Let's not fall for the PR bullshit.

I loved catherinedevalois's post of yesterday :
'What is the fashion of wearing a fuc*ing plate on one's head?
And it's not even ON Kate's head , it looks like someone's just stuck it to her face.'

Oh give over with the "women shaming other women" nonsense.....the two of them put massive emphasis on their clothes and appearance, at no small cost, they're also married into the royal family, of course their outfits are going to be discussed. It was the same with Diana, they enjoy the attention they get from how they look. Or should we all robotically love every single detail about their clothes, hair makeup etc.

NarniaSha · 10/06/2018 10:08

I think her hair is beautifully curled 🤷🏽‍♀️

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 10/06/2018 10:19

I actually thought they both looked incredibly beautiful.

I'll admit I did think something similar when I saw the pics originally but I think to be honest it's just the hair.

I would wear Kate's dress in a heartbeat and I'm early thirties and consider myself relatively fashion minded. It was elegant and wonderfully tailored. Honestly the occasion is pretty much as formal as you can get.

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 10:26

What does it matter what they both look like, surely what they look like is irrelevant.

harshbuttrue1980 · 10/06/2018 10:37

Expat, do you really think Kate is breastfeeding?? Next you'll be telling us she changes the nappies or is up all night with the baby. Royal babies get brought up by nannies until they are old enough to be sent to boarding school.

pigsDOfly · 10/06/2018 10:39

I love the way people on here are picking these two women apart.

'Kate looks sad'. Really? So how would you look standing in the public gaze on a hot day watching something you have no choice but to attend a few months after giving birth. Maybe she's just watching what's going on and didn't think to smile just at that moment.

I've got photos of me at my wedding where I look more miserable - admitted the marriage did end in divorce.

Both women are dressed for a formal occasion, what do you expect them to wear? Obviously all the style experts on here would look so much better.

LifeBeginsAtGin · 10/06/2018 11:01

CristalTipps Bulging eyes.... They all have bulging eyes, even the European monarchs (of who ours are related).

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 11:04

Oh give over, let people have their say. If they didn't put so much emphasis on clothes, if they weren't in the royal family, if they didn't act like "celebrities" I'd agree with you. People who put themselves knowingly in the public eye, especially people marrying into the royal family are always going to get talked about. Ffs they get enough adoration, why should it be all one sided. You make it sound like these two are somehow hard done by. Confused

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 11:05

That was in answer to pigs

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 11:15

And please let's not start feeling sorry for Kate having to stand around on a hot day a few months after giving birth. How bloody long was she standing? Whatever, it's not bloody much to ask for what she gets in return. She's hardly going home to a mountain of work is she. She lives a life of extreme privilege, as the whole damn lot of them do. It's bizarre how we fawn over this family.

MmeButtox · 10/06/2018 11:20

Not their fault. They are both very beautiful women who I'm sure have perfectly normal taste in fashion when left to their own devices. Do you think they get sent back to their rooms to change like naughty teenagers if they wear gaudy makeup or shortish skirts?

pigsDOfly · 10/06/2018 13:06

I don't feel sorry for any of them. I don't like the idea of this sort of privilege for a few by accident of birth. So don't get me wrong I'm not defending them or 'adoring them'.

I just wonder why women take such pleasure in slagging off other women and pulling apart the way they dress.

Would they do any better, that's all I'm saying

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 13:55

They're both attractive women who are able to enjoy the best of what money can buy to make them so. But neither are beautiful. But then again everyone is beautiful these days. It's not a high bar to reach any more.

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 14:02

I don't think it matters what they look like. Why is it even necessary to say they're beautiful. Looks are really not that important, it's what's inside that counts surely. But when you wear dresses that cost more than what most of make in a year, then yes, you're setting yourself up for critique about your appearance. It's them that's putting the emphasis on appearance rather than us surely.

RoseWhiteTips · 10/06/2018 14:04

greenvalleys

Neither is beautiful, in your opinion? Okaaay, perhaps you would care to give an example of a woman you consider beautiful.

I think Kate IS beautiful by most normal definitions of the word.

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 14:46

Rose just because you might think they're beautiful we don't all have to agree. How do you define beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. So why say "okayyy as if i've just said something outrageous. How odd if we all thought the same.....

There aren't any set rules by how we define beauty, I see loads of far more beautiful on any given day in my local town center, who haven't had the benefits of all the aids that they have. Imo they are both attractive but no, i don't think they're beautiful.

FirstOfHerName · 10/06/2018 20:14

If we’re talking royalty then I’d say Meghan actually is beautiful, Rania of Jordan is beautiful, Jetsun of Nepal is beautiful, the young Princess Margaret was beautiful, Charlotte Casiraghi is beautiful.

I don’t think Kate is beautiful but she’s very attractive. I’d put Mary and Marie if Denmark into the same categories, along with the Swedish princesses and Maxima of the Netherlands. But Maxima is far more vibrant and charismatic than any of her contemporaries.

greenvalleys · 10/06/2018 21:04

Meghan isnt royalty, she married in to it. But what does it matter who's beautiful, it's irrelevant, looks soon fade. It's what's inside that counts.

Elphame · 10/06/2018 21:06

She's an actress playing the part of being a royal duchess!

sue51 · 10/06/2018 21:32

I quite like the flying saucer hats. They both looked nice. Megan was probably a bit bemused by the occasion.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/06/2018 22:10

Meghan isnt royalty, she married in to it.

Yes, which makes her royalty now.
