Petrol station incident - Who was BU??

BasilFaulty · 06/06/2018 17:04

So just got home from work and on my way back had to stop for petrol.

I pull up at the petrol station, there's two cars at the pumps I want to be at so I wait for one of them to go.

The first one goes (ie the one further away from me) and I drive around the second car that was still there and the blokes still pumping.

I pull in front of his car to the pump and reverse a bit to get it level.

Plenty of room for him to get out still, I'd pretty much just replaced the car that had just left.

So I start fuelling my car, he's now got in his car and pulls up alongside me and goes 'Patience is a virtue you know you BINT'

To which I replied 'Oh, go away' Blush

He looked so shocked!! He couldn't believe I'd answered him back. He obviously thought about saying more but then just slunk off and as he was pulling out he blared his horn at me Smile

When you're waiting for a pump to become free at petrol station do you wait for the pump nearest to you to become free or do you pull in front of necessary??

Surely if everyone always waited if would cause unnecessary queues?

WIBU??

I pull in front, as long as you left enough room for him to get out then I don’t see the issue.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 06/06/2018 17:06

Usually I would pull into the empty front one but new car doesn't have parking sensors and still getting a feel of it so sat and waited like a plank!! Blush

honeyishrunkthekid · 06/06/2018 17:06

No he was BU. I do this all the time otherwise you'll irritate those behind you in the queue. What a melon

Thehop · 06/06/2018 17:07

He’s an angry little cock nostril.

YANBU

Madbengalmum · 06/06/2018 17:08

Any man who thinks calling a woman a bint is an acceptable thing to do gets a YABU from me, of course you weren't unreasonable what else were you supposed to do?

PointyCabbageQueen · 06/06/2018 17:08

He was an idiot and incredibly rude..just as well he didnt do it to me this week, twice ive been queue jumped this week, and I gracefully said nothing, but I’m silently seething still :-)

Sirzy · 06/06/2018 17:08

If you could get around him then I can’t see why he couldn’t get around you so nothing wrong with what you did.

If he had been in the car about to pull off and you sped around him he may have had a point but not when he was still fielding

incogKNEEto · 06/06/2018 17:08

I wait until the second car goes then pull up to the first pump and the person behind can use the second pump, it’s not as if they’ll be there for hours. It does seem rude to go around and pull in front...

Sirzy · 06/06/2018 17:09

Fueling not fielding

ByeMF · 06/06/2018 17:09

He was being totally unreasonable. You did what any normal person would do. He's obviously got issues.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 06/06/2018 17:09

YANBU. Patience often isn’t a virtue it’s often just something men think women should have so they can trample all over them.

KatnissMellark · 06/06/2018 17:09

He's an idiot. And an aggressive sexist idiot at that.

bettytaghetti · 06/06/2018 17:09

He was BU. You should have told him you thought he was perfectly capable of pulling round another car or does he need to put his learner plates back on! Good for you answering him back.

Usernumbers1234 · 06/06/2018 17:10

I pull in front.

Next time suggest that if he’s struggling to drive the car through a perfectly reasonable gap that you can move the car for him.

That’ll fix it

BasilFaulty · 06/06/2018 17:10

Oh thank god. It really had me questioning my forecourt etiquette and could there possibly be anything worse than that.

He was pretty aggressive about the whole thing

resists urge to say that I bet he wouldn't say anything if I'd been a bloke

OP posts:
Bluelady · 06/06/2018 17:10

What an arse. I do what you did. You were very restrained.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 06/06/2018 17:10

Well, he was just a rude A hole.

Some people just like to pick fights and critise others.

Yanbu

CuriousaboutSamphire · 06/06/2018 17:10

Good job he didn't say that to me! I'd have chosen a few long words and used my "I used to be a teacher, you small man you" look.

Something like "How tremendously misogynistic of you old chap. Cheers for that!"

Leave them confused... Confused

Slarti · 06/06/2018 17:11

He's obviously got some very strange and idiosyncratic notions of patience. I've never known anybody to have an issue with this, it's what everybody does. It's not like you've pushed in and this was detrimental to him; he was at his pump, you were at a different one. When a pump is free whoever is next in line can use it. I'd hate to see him at those banks of self service checkouts! Grin

Usernumbers1234 · 06/06/2018 17:11

And yeah, in certain areas not pulling in front would cause tailbacks and possibly major traffic issues in a few forecourts I can think of in North London

sexnotgender · 06/06/2018 17:14

YANBU what a knob, you were very restrained in your reply.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/06/2018 17:14

You did nothing wrong OP. The man was an arrogant twat. Imagine being married to someone like him 😟

As for bint? The mood I'm in right now would have had me jumping in my car and chasing the fucker.

BlueJava · 06/06/2018 17:15

Well done on your restrained reply, I would have fitted at least 3 swear words in that sentence :)

polsha · 06/06/2018 17:15

. It does seem rude to go around and pull in front...

What is rude about using an empty pump? I genuinely can't see what could be rude about that. If anything it looks stupid sitting waiting while pimps are clear

PastBananas · 06/06/2018 17:15

He was clearly a 'Great I Am' who thinks that he is more important than anybody else.

Just thank your lucky stars you aren't married to him.
