I think my friend should pay, she thinks we should split it?

Driving a friend 4 hours away for an operation (cosmetic) and will use 2 full tanks of fuel in my car, cost of a hotel, food while I'm there and I'm using a days annual leave.
She wants to split all costs down the middle, whereas I think I'm using my holiday entitlement and 2 days of my time (which I am more than happy to give up) but don't think I should be paying for fuel, or for the hotel? I've said I'll pay for all my own food.
Her logic is we're both going so why should only she pay, she's already paying lots for surgery.
My logic is I wouldn't be going if it wasn't to do her a favour so don't see it fair to split costs.
Whats the right thing to do here? Don't want to be mean but trying to be fair...

You need a better friend, this one is taking advantage and the piss. Driving and giving up your time to care for her is a huge favour. It would cost her a fortune for a nurse and driver. This is not a holiday for you. She should pay for petrol and all expenses

Unsure84 · 11/05/2018 22:40

I agree with the general here, you are giving up your time for a trip that’s not exactly a jolly for you why should you be out pocket for being a good friend. Tell her to get a train and a new friend!

Would people please RTFT before replying Hmm. Or at least move on to the new thread and RThatFT before commenting on it.

Things have moved on. OP will not be paying to do her not friend a favour, she is going on a dirty short break with her dp instead, she's been threatened with legal action by her CF non friend, who has also tried, anonymously, to tell her dp that she cheating on him (but he called the CF's bluff by calling her Titzilla Grin) and the CF regaling her FB friends about how she has lost £13k and can't have implied life safe surgery due to being let down by the OP, and wishing the karma of infertility on her Shock

Whereas we are all wishing the karma of a successful TTC dirty weekend on the OP WinkGrin

Oh. - so is there another thread then ? Grin

stayathomer · 12/05/2018 08:26

Is she thinking it's a holiday away for you both but she happens to be getting something done? It seems a bit crazy she isn't falling over herself to pay everything for you ...

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 12/05/2018 08:36

I would just say I’m not paying and you can find your own way there. I seriously don’t get how she thinks splitting down the middle is fair
