I think my friend should pay, she thinks we should split it?

Driving a friend 4 hours away for an operation (cosmetic) and will use 2 full tanks of fuel in my car, cost of a hotel, food while I'm there and I'm using a days annual leave.
She wants to split all costs down the middle, whereas I think I'm using my holiday entitlement and 2 days of my time (which I am more than happy to give up) but don't think I should be paying for fuel, or for the hotel? I've said I'll pay for all my own food.
Her logic is we're both going so why should only she pay, she's already paying lots for surgery.
My logic is I wouldn't be going if it wasn't to do her a favour so don't see it fair to split costs.
Whats the right thing to do here? Don't want to be mean but trying to be fair...

She's probably fallen out with her family as well, so that's not possible either.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/05/2018 12:03

He called her titzilla. Classic!

RoseWhiteTips · 10/05/2018 12:11

She sounds unhinged.

MrsCrabbyTree · 10/05/2018 13:20

Someone way up in this thread said Titzilla was full of hot air.

This is what popped into my wicked mind -

So thank goodness she cancelled surgery otherwise she would wizz around the surgery like a deflating balloon when the surgeon started operating. (I am so going to hell!)

Smeddum · 10/05/2018 13:20

@MrsCrabbyTree save me a seat because I nearly pissed myself laughing at that! Grin

randomuntrainedcuntowner · 10/05/2018 13:22

Well she's got til Tuesday to find someone else then

Cheeky Fuckers - the gift that keeps on giving . . .

@Happygummibear

Its a long time since I was studying law, but if I remember correctly, while a contract does not need to be written down, it does need a offer, acceptance and consideration. What would OP's consideration consist of? Im not sure the warm glow produced of paying for her own petrol and hotel costs would really cut it.

This thread reminds me of how much i love MN, with the collective mind really helping someone to see (what their nearest and dearest long suspected) that their good nature was being taken advantage of 😁

Happygummibear · 10/05/2018 14:02

My thought process was regarding the further messages where op stated what she wanted and although titzilla didn't agree straight away in a follow up message she did l. But as op then declined it doesn't matter.

Thingiebob · 10/05/2018 14:42

I'm crying. This is epic

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/05/2018 16:30

"Please Hun, just chip in what you can

Hun?

HUN???

HUN?????

Get her out of your life NOW!

youarenotkiddingme · 10/05/2018 17:33

I bet Fb posts are more about a "poor me" approach in the hope some other mug friend will rock up and be desperate to help her.

Is all emotional manipulation - those who live like this often actually do believe they are the perpetual victim.

Titzilla the Hun! GrinGrinGrin

IronicWitttUsername · 10/05/2018 19:20

Why does she think she needs you? There are alternatives to getting to London other than via car. And I'm sure there are more people in the world that could go with her. Just no one daft enough to pay to go with her.

IronicWitttUsername · 10/05/2018 19:23

Has she actually cancelled it yet?

FinallyHere · 10/05/2018 19:39

He replied to the message saying "Thank you for telling me. It's really appreciated, Titzilla"

I am a little in live with your DH, he's a good 'un and no mistake.

IronicWitttUsername · 10/05/2018 19:40

Watch out from more bonkers acts fro. Her

noddy · 11/05/2018 17:32

She should pay for ALL of it!

Giselleb1 · 11/05/2018 17:32

You're doing her a favour. She should pay.

ARRDmum · 11/05/2018 17:38

She should definitely pay fuel etc. She should also, even though you are willing, pay for your food as a thank you! This happened to my husband once. He took someone to hospital miles away in London (on his birthday!) and lost a days pay for taking time off work. He paid the fuel too!

Lizzie48 · 11/05/2018 17:42

There is a new thread on this, the OP isn't involved anymore.

Why do people do this? I genuinely cant understand how she can not see that she is in the wrong. Tell her to do one and do something nice for you instead.
