I think my friend should pay, she thinks we should split it?

Driving a friend 4 hours away for an operation (cosmetic) and will use 2 full tanks of fuel in my car, cost of a hotel, food while I'm there and I'm using a days annual leave.
She wants to split all costs down the middle, whereas I think I'm using my holiday entitlement and 2 days of my time (which I am more than happy to give up) but don't think I should be paying for fuel, or for the hotel? I've said I'll pay for all my own food.
Her logic is we're both going so why should only she pay, she's already paying lots for surgery.
My logic is I wouldn't be going if it wasn't to do her a favour so don't see it fair to split costs.
Whats the right thing to do here? Don't want to be mean but trying to be fair...

Have just caught up on this. It's all getting a bit Fatal Attraction now. You don't own a bunny do you, OP? Shock Grin

PunxsutawneyHogwash · 10/05/2018 11:16

DGRossetti

As an aside, there must be people willing to do this surgery chaperone business for a fee.

I'd like to suggest Bosum Buddies

catweasel44 · 10/05/2018 11:17

Seriously though, screenshot everything.

The Facebook thing is a bit deranged and worth holding onto just in case she gets more weird.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 10/05/2018 11:17

This is real life not entertainment people!

We have an OP who has been on the receiving end of some horrible treatment
And CF or not she is suffering too

It’s sad . Not funny

Bosom Buddies

I don't know what a bosum is, sounds like a boating term.

ReanimatedSGB · 10/05/2018 11:22

There genuinely are people this malevolent, and not just on MN. I know there are too many amateur diagnosticians on here but I think there is definitely a personality type that behaves like this - and these people often get away with it for quite a long time because most reasonable people expect others to behave reasonably and when someone is acting like a screaming arsebiscuit, their friends or partners try to come up with some sort of explanation or way to fix the situation - or blame themselves.

These toxic individuals all seem to share a similar conviction that they are the absolute centre of the universe, and everyone owes them attention, devotion, support, money, endless favours and fawning gratitude. They will lie, manipulate others' weak spots, intimidate people into obeying or apologising, and often try to seek hugely disproprtionate revenge on anyone who disobeys or even outshines them.

There's been a few on here, like Softzilla, and the woman who wanted to dump all her kids on the OP of the thread in question for OP's birthday party while she herself went out shagging (when OP stood up to her and said no, the woman spread OP's secrets all over social media, claimed to have shagged OP's husband and indulged in other spiteful, shit-stirring behaviour...) And there was the hairdresser one, as well...

woollyheart · 10/05/2018 11:23

Bosun is the boating term
Bosom is woman’s chest or breaths, or intimate (as in bosom friend)

Welshgal1 · 10/05/2018 11:24

@prettybird He actually said Titzilla GrinGrin

Dear random Facebook user.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Sadly we are currently dealing with a self entitled crazy bitch threatening to sue my wife as she refused to be her handmaiden, so we are a little consumed with that.
Could you try again later
Cheers.

ReanimatedSGB · 10/05/2018 11:25

Oh, re the 'surgery chaperone' thing - you can get something like that on the NHS, because there are always going to be people who don't have anyone to take them to/from surgery. My mum used some service like that a few years ago (my brother couldn't get time off work and I don't drive).

woollyheart · 10/05/2018 11:25

Breasts not breaths Wink

Dobby1sAFreeElf · 10/05/2018 11:26

Though titzilla was definitely a better response.

Pandoraphile · 10/05/2018 11:27

Reanimated - not for cosmetic surgery you can't.

Twofigsnotgiven · 10/05/2018 11:31

ReanimatedSGB Agreed. I didn’t realise people like this existed until a year or two ago,, when my family and a good friend were on the receiving end of this kind of narcissistic behaviour when we finally twigged, and called it out. It was devastating at the time (including truly awful behaviours towards our children). People like this rely and prey on the good nature of others, unfortunately.

This thread should be in Classics. I almost never LOL but I did the biggest guffaw at that first text...

prettybird · 10/05/2018 11:34

I think if Welshgal1 didn't laugh, she'd cry laugh even more hysterically at Titzilla's obvious and growing delusions. Grin

Strawberry2017 · 10/05/2018 11:35

Surely if it's that important she can take a family member.
She is awful.
