To pay this much for my windows to be cleaned?

A family member arranged for a window cleaner to clean my windows at my request. He has cleaned 4 windows and 1 lot of patio doors. He's charged my £60 and been here 30 minutes.

Don't know if I'm being naive but I did not expect it to cost that much! I was only expecting £20 at most!

AIBU to think this isn't reasonable?

That sounds ridiculously high. I pay £7 for double that number of windows

DrWhy · 03/05/2018 12:54

Bloody hell, our house has 6 normal sized windows, 2 massive windows, a set of patio doors and an annoying high up long window - we pay £17 for ours.

MummytoCSJH · 03/05/2018 12:54

I pay £5 for my whole house Confused

maggie222 · 03/05/2018 12:55

Yes we are in a big 5 bed townhouse which is awkward. We have a glass balcony, porch and 2 patio doors. They clean frames too and charge £12.

You are being ripped off!!

Bramble71 · 03/05/2018 12:55

I paid a fiver for the whole house, including a conservatory, last time I had a window cleaner. £60 is unbelievable, unless it's for a mansion!

Eatalot · 03/05/2018 12:57

£60!!! I pay £5 for the high windows and do the ones I can reach myself. 2 on front, 2 on the back and a smaller on the side. This is crazy money and I doubt anyone actually pays them this. You are being taken advantage of.

antimatter · 03/05/2018 12:58

did he have to pay for parking when cleaning them? did he need any special equipment?

TodaysFishIsTroutALaCreme · 03/05/2018 12:58

I pay 15 quid and have 11 Windows, two doors plus patio doors. Tell him to piss off

HermesAndPinot · 03/05/2018 12:58

You have been ripped off.

Can you call the family member who arranged this?

TacoFlavouredKisses · 03/05/2018 12:59

£7 for seven windows here.

What a swizz Shock

19lottie82 · 03/05/2018 12:59

Before I opened this thread I was prepared to call you stingy for not wanting to pay a fiver Shock

We have a four bed house and pay £7!

Why so expensive? Is there some kind of window deep cleaning that I don’t know about?

Bambinho · 03/05/2018 12:59

You are being completely ripped off, I pay £15 for windows I could clean myself (single storey cottage) but it includes my conservatory roof so I'm pathetically grateful! Have you paid yet?

TegKernow · 03/05/2018 12:59

Bloody hell, that’s ridiculous!

We have 9 windows, one glazed door, one large set of patio doors and a front door with small glazed panels and glazing at the sides.

Our window cleaner charges £18 to do them all. That includes him cleaning all the frames and sills too.

mumofmunchkin · 03/05/2018 13:00

That's a lot! We pay £11 for 7 windows and a set of french doors, and they normally wash down the front and back doors too.

Rudgie47 · 03/05/2018 13:00

Dont pay it.
It would be £10.00 tops.

Lethaldrizzle · 03/05/2018 13:01

Does it not depend where you live

FadedRed · 03/05/2018 13:01

Definitely too much. Ten windows and a set of patio doors here costs a tenner (and a cup of coffee!).

catinboots9 · 03/05/2018 13:01

I pay £16 for front and back, one front door and two back doors. All frames and sills included as well

MrsEricBana · 03/05/2018 13:02

What??????!! £20 MAX. I pay £30 for more windows several of which are tricky.

Northernpowerhouse · 03/05/2018 13:03

Doesn’t sound right. I pay £13 for a 4 bed modern detached including 3 difficult access velux windows.

adaline · 03/05/2018 13:03

£7 for four windows here.

NinkyNonk1 · 03/05/2018 13:03

He saying he's cleaned my guttering so how much extra would that usually add to a price ?

OP posts:
Labmum · 03/05/2018 13:04

We're in a 4 bed detached and only pay £5 for all windows and patio doors!

blaaake · 03/05/2018 13:04

£12 here but I have floor length windows on both floors, bi folds and about 8 other windows. You are being ripped off.

PotTheRed · 03/05/2018 13:05
