To pay this much for my windows to be cleaned?

A family member arranged for a window cleaner to clean my windows at my request. He has cleaned 4 windows and 1 lot of patio doors. He's charged my £60 and been here 30 minutes.

Don't know if I'm being naive but I did not expect it to cost that much! I was only expecting £20 at most!

AIBU to think this isn't reasonable?

2kids it's the same as with anything else that hasn't been cleaned for a while e.g food spills on your kitchen surfaces would take longer to clean if you only did them once a week as opposed to wiping them down daily. Same with windows - bird poo etc will take more time to remove if it's been dried on for months (even years!) rather than once a month. Also most window cleaners will also clean the window frames which takes a lot of extra time during a first clean. Finally window cleaners only bring in small amounts such as £7, £10 pr visit but the way they make their living is ensuring those amounts come in on a regular i.e monthly basis. Therefore the cost of the first clean also ensures that people don't just have the window cleaner in once or twice a year for a tenner - there's no way you could stay in business if customers could do that (my exH was a window cleaner).

^^How can they afford to live being paid under a tenner?

Easily

It only takes 5 mins so even at the £5 I pay that's a good £50 per hour at least.

Smeddum · 04/05/2018 12:26
