To pay this much for my windows to be cleaned?

A family member arranged for a window cleaner to clean my windows at my request. He has cleaned 4 windows and 1 lot of patio doors. He's charged my £60 and been here 30 minutes.

Don't know if I'm being naive but I did not expect it to cost that much! I was only expecting £20 at most!

AIBU to think this isn't reasonable?

Tell him to fuck off!

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 03/05/2018 13:05

We pay £15, loads of big windows. Unless they're cleaning the insides too, that's astronomical!

Aeroflotgirl · 03/05/2018 13:06

Did you ask him to clean your guttering! He's having a laugh.

DameSylvieKrin · 03/05/2018 13:06

Window cleaning is much more expensive in some parts of the country. Where are you?

crazycatgal · 03/05/2018 13:06

You didn't agree to him cleaning the guttering, so son't pay him for it.

DevilsAttic · 03/05/2018 13:07

Did you ask for the guttering to be cleaned?

BrazzleDazzleDay · 03/05/2018 13:07

Not 50 odd quid thats for sure. You didn't ask him to clean them presumably?

£6 for ten windows and two glass doors here. £20 quid for the gutters.

milkmoustache · 03/05/2018 13:07

If he has cleaned your guttering that would be an extra cost. But did you ask him to, and did he tell you the extra charge before doing it?

Dodie66 · 03/05/2018 13:08

£10 here for 7 windows and 2 glass doors. We did get him to clean out the gutters last year which was an extra £50

Applesandpears23 · 03/05/2018 13:08

Do you believe he cleared out guttering? If so that seems more reasonable.

Hmmisthatit · 03/05/2018 13:09

It costs a lot round here. I was quoted 55 for a 4 bed 3 storey house.

NinkyNonk1 · 03/05/2018 13:09

I live in a town house and he's only done the ground floor and 1st floor. I wouldn't have expected him to do the top bathroom or the skylight windows anyway

isseywithcats · 03/05/2018 13:09

back windows, patio doors, side windows, front windows and a porch costs me £8 once a month you have well and truly been ripped off

Starlight2345 · 03/05/2018 13:10

£60 for 30 minutes . I pay £6 .

CatchingBabies · 03/05/2018 13:11

Way too expensive! I would expect around £10-£15, maybe give him £20 as he's done the guttering and that's being generous as he wasn't asked to do the guttering.

NinkyNonk1 · 03/05/2018 13:11

I live in Cambridgeshire but my family member who has double my windows and a conservatory only pays £17! I don't know if he's cleaned inside the guttering as I couldn't see any debris from it but it looks like the outside of them have been cleaned. Yes he was asked by family member to do guttering but I did not expect it to be that expensive!

OP posts:
Chickychoccyegg · 03/05/2018 13:12

That is absolutely crazy, I pay £7 and that's ground and 1st floor Windows/1 set of patio doors, tell him no way are you paying £60 to have your windows washed!!!

patstar · 03/05/2018 13:13

3 bedhouse with bifold doors - £9.00
If he managed to clean the guttering then why didn't he clean the bathroom window?
Do not pay it - you are being ripped off

Aridane · 03/05/2018 13:15

OK - now I now everyone here is saying they're paying £2.50 for a 9 bedroom mansion etc. But what would be reasonable for a 3 bedroomed house, 2 storeys, in London?

Haven't had my windows cleaned since I moved in and have no idea what's reasonable

DougFargo · 03/05/2018 13:15

tell him to jog on, he's taking the piss out of you!

TegKernow · 03/05/2018 13:15

Surely it shouldn’t be that much, even with the guttering? Crazy.

Sunkist12 · 03/05/2018 13:15

Have you paid it OP? I pay £8 And that includes 2 French doors and whites

AngelsWithSilverWings · 03/05/2018 13:16

£18 for 2 large 8 section bays , 12 other large windows, three sets of french doors , one set of patio sliding doors , 2 glazed doors ( my house has far too many windows!)

You are being ripped off!

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 03/05/2018 13:16

Our house is big with three floors/patio windows etc. and we pay £10 twice a fortnight.

£60 is daylight robbery (even with the guttering!). Who is the family member who found this person? Wasn't price agreed beforehand?

Aridane · 03/05/2018 13:16

Also - how much would it cost (London) to have gutters cleaned - x2 gutters, one each at front and back of house?
