I don't know about you, but since the instamums posts I have really noticed the #AD on posts, and to be honest I had no idea I was so gullible. I loved the threads regards instamums and really think MN made a small change, well done us

Dunno what posts you mean but if MN really did make a change then you're def not BU and bloody well done.

Might as well stick a big fat #AD sign over half of mummy insta.

And don't get me started on the Dads. Well one Dad in particular.

QuestioningStuffBanana · 01/05/2018 17:49

LEMtheoriginal · 01/05/2018 17:50

minderful · 01/05/2018 17:51

Actually went through Instagram today and unfollowed all the serial #AD offenders that I followed. So fed up with investing in reading the rubbish they put underneath the posts only to spot #AD carefully hidden in the hashtags. Worst one today was how someone has been so ill there parents took them out in their land rover to make them feel better! I felt really stupid feeling sorry for this person then spotting the dreaded #AD at bottom of the post (this crap does not make me want to purchase a land rover or anything else these grabby people are pushing this week.

Raffish · 01/05/2018 18:08

lol at Land Rover drive making them feel better.

I know there's a Land Rover Discovery. What was this model - a Land Rover Recovery?

RunMummyRun68 · 01/05/2018 18:21

But what's your AIBU?

I don't think you are BU at all to note how prolific the advertising on Instagram is and how very hidden it was previously!

I've noticed a dearth of #GIFTED since the last MN thread ended, though.

MadameGrizzly · 02/05/2018 21:24

If I were MOD... I'm not sure id have shared this on Instagram stories. It might have been wiser to leave it buried in the Amazon reviews...

Well she is an author isn't She? So we would expect her to write the book!

I notice ad too. Some are desperate to get it and try so hard.

It's a legitimate review of both her books, but so much defensiveness from MOD. A true author would accept valid criticism, I think?

mastershelp · 02/05/2018 22:05

Since the last thread MOD has definitely been trying to be more midwifery. She is doing that Monday recycled posts birth stories thing.

I love Candice Brathwaite, she is so upfront about #ads and even announces 'you'll be seeing a lot of ads over the coming weeks as I need an income". She does stay authentic by only working with brands that she would use anyway.

checkedcloth · 02/05/2018 22:09

The threads were great at uncovering the constant advertising that wasn’t being declared at all.

I’ve really had my eyes opened too in terms of the ‘can anyone recommend’ posts. They usually end up with the Instamum somehow blagging a freebie a few days later. Prior to the threads I though these were genuine asks. Now it’s so obvious it’s just grabbing more stuff

MadameGrizzly · 02/05/2018 22:11

I agree, MOD is more about the midwifery, though saying the magazine gave her 'her first break' makes me think she sees herself more as an author. Hmm

@5526mum Out of curiosity, when you unfollowed all the #AD accounts, what Instagram accounts were you left with?

hiblueblue · 02/05/2018 22:12

I’m shocked people didn’t already realise these were ads without needing it to actually say.

Hint - if the product/company is tagged in the photo then 9/10 times they’re being paid to flog whatever it is.

NovichoksAway · 02/05/2018 22:18

I’ve noticed gifts are still being poorly disclosed too, even by some people that started being more transparent - whether that was feeling under pressure from the previous threads I don’t know.

MadameGrizzly · 02/05/2018 22:21

According to the ASA it isn't advertising that needs disclosure if the brand doesn't have editorial control, so it's not really that straight forward.
