I don't know about you, but since the instamums posts I have really noticed the #AD on posts, and to be honest I had no idea I was so gullible. I loved the threads regards instamums and really think MN made a small change, well done us

Yes it is a tad OTT and drama queenesque, but the goal is to draw attention to each others accounts and get more followers.

I don't mind MOD (and follow her) but this has really annoyed me. It's so 'I'm a victim, poor old me' and it comes across to me as if it a strategic attention seeking plo y to deflect attention away from somewhere else such as the ads. "I'm not scared anymore" Hmm It all sounds so playground drama. Think I will have to unfollow.

Babaloo88 · 05/05/2018 09:51

oh Gosh! The comments are just so cringey! ‘We love you and your family, they are so real!!’ What is exactly real about 3-5 holidays a year? Free car, free washing machines etc etc. They are not relatable, not anymore.

This whole campaign has annoyed me so much. These influencers who are all jumping on the bandwagon has personally bullied others. Yet all of that has been ignored and people are just gushing over them.

SchrodingersCatepillar · 05/05/2018 09:52

I’m predicting #dearamazon next for being unsupportive by publishing all those mean and bullying reviews on MOD’s books.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 05/05/2018 09:55

It’s almost as if MOD didn’t bully Danielle so publicly and NB didn’t completely shame and goad her friend with severe mental health issues. If they want to find true bullying examples maybe they should look closer to home.

MadameGrizzly · 05/05/2018 09:57

One thing that really struck me with the very first threads about influencers in Style&Beauty and AIBU, was that the instagrammers were genuinely shocked that more than a few people actually really disliked their business model - both the lack of advertising disclosure and use of minors.

They were so defensive and outraged as on Instagram almost all comments were positive, and those that weren't were swiftly deleted and blocked. It was easy to write the odd negative comment off as a 'hater/troll'. They were posting in complete ego stroking bubbles.

If anyone right now is angry and unreasonable it is the Influencers as the Instagram gravy train has been truly derailed.

The issues discussed on MN were things they should have been doing anyway or should have thought about a bit more critically before they accepted that first free pair of shoes/frock/holiday/car/washing machine/gin/etc.

MN is also sandpit tame compared to other forums that critique influencers.

SchrodingersCatepillar · 05/05/2018 10:10

Agree MadameGrizzly, actually quite surprised nobody has started a thread on GOMI for these people.

Mumofkids · 05/05/2018 10:29

And perhaps think twice about cheesy cereal ads with your family not actually eating the cereal.
Holidays x 5/6 (greek villa, Disney world, St Lucia and Portuguese villa spring to mind)
Stokke chairs
Nappies and pull ups
Clarks shoes
Razors
Nit Lotion
Renault Car
Dorset Cereal
Microsoft computers
Miele washing machine and dryer
Boden wardrobe
Large numbers of kids small brand clothing
Hello fresh
Deliveroo
Uber
Blinds
Prints
Saltwater sandals
Rigby and Pellar bras

The list of products previously not #ad is just crazy, many of these have been updated, but perhaps now they are clearly marked they don't make as much money so not as many offers are rolling in, who knows. The last thread left mod on a relative high, she was adding and people accepted she is an influencer rather than a midwife and were not interested. But playing the bullied victim? I guess her holiday to St Lucia 'for us' should have been a warning...

Mumofkids · 05/05/2018 10:33

I should also add that those were products I just typed as I wrote, there's probably far more and I couldn't give a monkeys but they were lots that I didn't realise were ads initially.

RunMummyRun68 · 05/05/2018 10:35

Cereal advert but photo shows not eating it lol

Did they actually have nits? To test the lotion you'd need them ....

Mumofkids · 05/05/2018 10:59

@runmummyrun68 fairly poor ad really and yes the nit one was baffling and if memory serves it features Boots heavily and from the angle we check our so can get them at the first sign. Also interesting choice as every health professional I've known personally has advised avoiding branded but lotions and use of regular combing. Both as deterrent and if infected, largely due to all the chemicals and the fact you still have to comb daily for weeks.

nipersvest · 05/05/2018 11:16

I don't get the need to reignite this, after the last lot of 'instamums' threads the discussion had pretty much come to a natural end, which I assumed was what the 'instamums' wanted.

Why is NB starting it up again? (ps, didn't know who NB was till her post yesterday started popping up on instastories). The cynic in me is thinking, bank holiday weekend, nice weather, traffic slow on sm, books to sell, #ad to promote, jump on the shit stirring band wagon. #dearinstamums

Mumofkids · 05/05/2018 11:31

@nipersvest totally agree and find MOD wading in on it odd, it's her business, and in all fairness once she started #ad people moved on. But then I find it odd she'd promote the dreadful reviews of her books. I've decided she is fairly Un-fathomable. The thing is, you can try and shut down discussion as much as you want but one day they may have to answer to their kids about why they sold their family. If they are lucky their kids will be relatively unscathed, but if they are anything like my teens they may not appreciate the exposure and attention when they hit the teenage years.

Whatalovelymug · 05/05/2018 11:35

I think they’ve run out of stuff to talk about

NovichoksAway · 05/05/2018 11:41

I don't understand the need either. It's not a real campaign is it? You only have to look at MP's feed to see a real campaign doing real good for women. I'm sick of faux campaigns which are just dressed up ways to drive engagement so they can flog more stuff to the masses. The majority of instamums have enjoyed the fact they are making money under the nose of a toothless regulator and don't like it when consumers voice their concerns.

Some of the comments being made are just untrue as well. Someone said the earlier threads were closed down because of bullying which isn't the case, as far as I can remember. One was closed because of sock puppeting and another was closed because it started discussing the post MOD made about the trans threads. MN have deleted individual posts that breached the TGs. Lisa Dawson and someone else also have a chat about how she was reported to the ASA off the back of the threads which I don't recall happening AT ALL (someone may have done its outside of MN but there wasn't any discussion about reporting her on the threads). Have noticed she has started disclosing her ads now, I suspect she's just seething because she's feeling like she has to be more transparent and she doesn't like it.

mastershelp · 05/05/2018 11:41

I did wonder if MOD got 'megababe' to start the campaign so it can all be about her and at the same time build NB's following, whilst appearing as if MOD just coincidentally came across it, but it's oh so relevant. It just seems to have come out of nowhere and NB isn't exactly a frequently spoken about person on MN.

What's the MOD/Danielle story?

chirpychirpycheep · 05/05/2018 15:36

I'd love to see them quote the actual "bullying" posts. Anything out of order was generally deleted wasn't it?

I don't think they understand what bullying is tbh.

Mumofkids · 05/05/2018 15:43

Why was my post deleted?

Mumofkids · 05/05/2018 15:50

This is actually a joke. Questioning ethics of posters who did not need to stir things up when they are posting absolute nonsense just to get more followers and adoration is ridiculous. This woman has never engaged in topical debate, she deflects deletes blocks and ignores what she doesn't like. It's not online bullying, it's a forum which she has less control over than her own Instagram account. Although judging by my comments removal above she has a certain amount of sway here... interesting that most of the instamummies are avoiding her support of NB and very low engagement post.

She's reading this thread now. HI NATASHA! I think it is ridiculous to make mumsnet into the demon here. Please can you be more specific in what you think constitutes bullying? Rather than screenshotting other people's screenshot of your post (echo chamber anyone?!) why don't you screenshot examples of "bullying" on mumsnet?
NB: hugs hunxx
