To have Kate Middleton as my new role model

Or the Duchess of Cambridge for those who get uptight about her name.

She is so poised. Takes everything in her stride (even giving birth). She looks genuinely happy and in love and in control.

Operation Kate starts May 1st so I've got two more days to slob around on Mumsnet

I’m so proud

swingofthings · 29/04/2018 09:35

My OH would die of boredom if I was that perfect. He likes a bit of a challenge!

dayswithaY · 29/04/2018 09:36

Oh dear this will be interesting.

Yorkshirebetty · 29/04/2018 09:39

Like her mother (I suspect!) she has a core of steel. William was notoriously reluctant to commit to marriage, look at them now! She will be a formidable matriarch at the centre of the Windsor dynasty! Now that would be a brilliant reality show Wink

SecretIsland · 29/04/2018 09:39

I always wonder about the 'she looks happy and in love' bit.

You can't possibly tell that. She could be ridiculously happy with W or horrendously unhappy and considering exit options.

You can't tell because she's 'so poised'. It's a role she plays, like all the royals. You'll never know what any of them are actually feeling, they have a game face that's been practised to the nth degree.

I don't for a second believe that they're all terribly interested in all the people they have to meet over the year in the same way as politicians aren't - Nodding and smiling at Steve from Dudleys collection of medals or being shown the amazing artwork of yet another class of five year olds.

Smile and nod, smile and nod.

SooChef · 29/04/2018 09:40

Waves at Carole 😊 Would be great to have you on here for a Webchat. Self made millionaire, long marriage, close family. What's your secret?

How will you be funded? Shall we just send you cheques since you are royal and superior to us commoners? Ok so. I'm brain dead so that works for me.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 29/04/2018 09:42

Respect is due ! She isn’t my role model but she works hard and as others said has a core of steel (literally) !

I remember posting radiantly after DC2 was born and I even did my hair during the early stages of labour . An easy birth and euphoria means a lot

SooChef · 29/04/2018 09:43

You don't need "funding" to be poised, self assured and self contained (my goal)

Look at all the trust fund wastrels.

Granny, tel Soo how un'-poised Mummy gets when I've poured the milk over Charlotte and Charlotte is tryting to feed Ludo her dummy and Louis is screaming

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 29/04/2018 09:45

But she doesn’t do anything.

KateMiddletonsOtherMum · 29/04/2018 09:47

👋 at OP.

Ping Pong balls. My success in life has been due to my special trick with Ping Pong Balls. It is a talent that I have taught both my daughters although Kate does it better.

Battleax · 29/04/2018 09:47

Poised, bland. Potato, potarto.

Lichtie · 29/04/2018 09:47

We should all aspire to be born rich and marry richer.
She seems nice, but we don't get to see their real world, nor should we.

Believeitornot · 29/04/2018 09:47

I would look in control and poised if I knew my financial future was secure, if I didn’t have to deal with three young kids without a massive network of help and if my job consisted of smiling and waving every now and then.

Instead I have a stressful job, a house including toilets to clean and two young dcs who wake at 2am because they need me to hold their hands.

😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤨

codswallopandbalderdash · 29/04/2018 09:47

I think you are missing the point OP that KM has an army of people supporting her in the background. Chefs, stylists, nannies, drivers ... to name but a few. Good for you for wanted to be self-assured and confident but don't set yourself impossible goals - therein madness lies

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 29/04/2018 09:48

You do need at least some funding to get perfect hair blow dried by a stylist and the nice frocks to be poised in.

Bur good luck in your endeavours!

LifeBeginsAtGin · 29/04/2018 09:48

Reminds me of the poster who came on wanting suggestions for a nice dress to leave hospital in like Kate, but turns out she wasn't having a baby but some random tests.

Tragicboozyflaccidclown · 29/04/2018 09:49

But what do you know about her? Just that she steps out looking well put together? Surely that’s easily bought?
But hey it’s up to you and if it’s helpful to you then go for it. I guess it’s useful to have someone to visualise when you’re working on self improvement

tabulahrasa · 29/04/2018 09:49

“You don't need "funding" to be poised, self assured and self contained (my goal)”

I suspect you need lots of time though... I mean effectively that’s her job isn’t it.

SleepingStandingUp · 29/04/2018 09:49

Kate's persona is likely an act though. I bet she's screamed at William when he's being a dick. I bet she's cried when she's thrown up utter another morning and the kids just won't watch CBeebies with the Nanny. But she isn't going to be allowed to leave he house with weetabix in her hair in her joggers.

They do seem in love but they have the advantage of having a lot of time together just the two of them, no money worries, no work worries etc.

So do you want to learn how to put in an act to the world is the real question?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 29/04/2018 09:49

True that about the toilet cleaning. Do you think Kate looks poised while cleaning the loo?

Battleax · 29/04/2018 09:51

Half absurd levels of grooming, half standing very still and not saying much, surely? Sounds boring as shit.

Pengggwn · 29/04/2018 09:52

I felt really sorry for her standing on those steps like a prize pig. That soon after giving birth I was heading home, dressed and showered, but having spent the previous six hours cuddling and getting to know my baby, not having my hair set and someone trowelling on makeup. Poor woman.

MatildaTheCat · 29/04/2018 09:59

She’s done well for a gypsah. Selling tyres on eBay whilst maintaining perfection isn’t for the faint hearted. Smile
