“Transgender activists have contacted Mumsnet advertisers and said they will be organising a boycott of their products if they don’t remove their advertising from Mumsnet,” Roberts said.

“A significant minority of our users feel very strongly about women’s rights and very uneasy [about the proposals]. This is an issue that needs to be discussed and that’s why we’re prepared to take any potential advertising hit.”

Bravo! This is just so great to read.

I have also celebrated by switching off adblocker - to be fair I only switched it off as I’m not in the U.K. and kept getting an off-putting advert for some anti-baldness treatment for men.

I will be sure to prefer businesses that continue to advertise directly with mumsnet, on my frequent visits back home.

Delighted to see this in the Sunday Times and really glad Justine has taken this stance. It's outrageous that a group feels they can threaten and bully women into not talking about this.

TeisanLap · 15/04/2018 02:00

I think Justine has perhaps forgotten that the significant monitory is in fact quite a sizeable amount of posters who can’t keep up with the trans threads so choose steer clear of them instead.

BitOfFun · 15/04/2018 02:03

Bravo, Justine and MNHQ Flowers

thebewilderness · 15/04/2018 02:06

I am removing my ad blocker in gratitude.

TheXXFactor · 15/04/2018 02:06

No one is saying all MNetters are gender critical, Teisan. But this is about free speech.

Vexatious · 15/04/2018 02:09

Refreshing stance these days.

I approve.

RJnomore1 · 15/04/2018 02:12

Thank you Justine.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/04/2018 02:14

Brilliant Justine, thank you.

MsMims · 15/04/2018 02:15

Well done and thank you Justine.

Did anyone else have trouble signing the petition? I’ve submitted all my details but still no sign of the confirmation email. It says my vote doesn’t count until then.

AnitaLovesVictor · 15/04/2018 02:17

Thank you Justine. Thanks

I can't express how heartened I was to read this. Mumsnet is amazing.

PositivelyPERF · 15/04/2018 02:17

MsMims, check your junk box. That’s where mine went.

myrtleWilson · 15/04/2018 02:18

Thanks Justine

AnitaLovesVictor · 15/04/2018 02:20

I've been here since about 2010, and I'm damn proud to be part of a forum that does not give in to bullying tactics.

Cheers Wine

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 15/04/2018 02:22

Bloody hell! Well, an apology is in order from me to Justine - I had my doubts before that they hadn’t caved to TRAs. There’s putting your neck on the line and then there’s this.

Justine, I apologise for ever doubting your support for our freedom of speech. Thank you Thanks

I don’t have ad blockers on - I just don’t know how to take them off - but I definitely won’t now! Grin

AnitaLovesVictor · 15/04/2018 02:24

I don't have ad blockers on either - and managed to pull through the dark days of "ads popping up and covering half the screen & text" Grin

We're right here with you Justine Smile

DarthArts · 15/04/2018 02:27

I think MNHQ and Justine deserve this Gin

iheartmichellemallon · 15/04/2018 02:28

Well done Justine & thank you.

womanhuman · 15/04/2018 02:31

Thanks Justine

Truscum · 15/04/2018 02:34

Adblocker dutifully removed!!!

I’ll stare at ads all day and shop until I drop in return for this ode to free speech Justine.

Why advertisers would risk seriously pissing off the majority of their customers for a few TRA’s was beyond me anyway (what were Merc thinking?!)

In the majority of cases women choose, buy and book everything as they are often saddled with the family admin whether they want to do it or not.

bluescreen · 15/04/2018 02:39

A brave stand. I doubt that anyone here is a trans hater anyway.

Thank you, Justine.
