“Transgender activists have contacted Mumsnet advertisers and said they will be organising a boycott of their products if they don’t remove their advertising from Mumsnet,” Roberts said.

“A significant minority of our users feel very strongly about women’s rights and very uneasy [about the proposals]. This is an issue that needs to be discussed and that’s why we’re prepared to take any potential advertising hit.”

At the risk of turning this thread into a Xenia love fest, I can also remember a very pithy bit of advice she gave on MN years ago: "Don't marry a sexist"

Yes, yes, it's not that simple, we don't think that they are sexist, or they aren't overtly sexist at first (maybe not until the kids come along), but as a four word touch stone for how to have a happier marriage, it can't really be beaten. Smile

I want Dittany back.

And Lilka too but that's another board...

Thanks. I hope everyone can encourage each other on here and I continue to encourage women to aim for high pay.

Lancelottie · 20/04/2018 08:51

I remember the £1000 a day thread too. I haven't made it that far, but it certainly encouraged me to say No to a lot of low-paid jobs (I'm freelance) in order to have time for the rarer ones that paid double per hour.

I reckon I owe you about £10k a year for that advice, seriously.

Xenia · 20/04/2018 10:16

Thanks. Justine R. is just as much a role model of course, more so.
However some people really don't like to hear other women can earn a lot. We did have one poster on £1m a year - I think she was involved in share trading or something like that. Then there is the issue of MN reducing your income because you're too busy posting... another question again. I am sure my pyschiatrist family members have come across internet and playing computer games addictions - the latter uses the same bit of the brain as cocaine and alcohol reach Therefore better get back to my work......keeping twins at university is not cheap.

Lancelottie · 20/04/2018 11:11

Well, yes (cough), I'd better get back to work too. But clearly MN advice is worth more per hour than, erm, actually doing the work.

OlennasWimple · 20/04/2018 11:54

Certain - I read a thread the other day and saw Lilka on it and had a little leap of joy...until I saw it was a zombie thread.... Sad
