DD friend's mum not picking up the phone..

So my Dd (9) is staying the night at her friend's house for the first time. The parents of the friend know this is her first time away. I tried texting friends mum at 8.30pm to make sure dd was okay, no reply. I have since tried phoning 7 times in 20-minute intervals, still nothing... Who does that? AIBU??

Maybe she thinks you can work out that if there was a problem she would have contacted you.

Did you phone her mobile? It's Friday night and she's in her own house - she's probably got her feet up with a glass of wine not even looking at her phone. Mine is always on silent anyway. YABU to call that much, she would get in touch if there was a problem.

I would expect them to pick up the phone if they have your 9 year old child staying with them, I don't think you are being unreasonable at all! I think if you are in charge of someones young child you make sure that the parents can contact you, that's common sense. I'd be getting very anxious with no response.

Hopefully by this time she'll be almost off to sleep. For goodness sake, you are being very ott.

I wou.d be anxious in your situation OP. Are you ringing the landline? Is there any chance it could be on silent? I am terrible for losing my mobile and our landline goes on silent after 7pm (a hangover from the days of light sleeping babies). Why not drive by the house to assure yourself that all looks calm and well?

I think they should have acknowledged your text but I think all the phone calls are a bit strange. If you're that concerned, why don't you go over there? You seem to think something is wrong?

I don’t think you’re being u op. I’m very lax with my phone and it’s often on silent/not charged but I make sure I’m contactable when I’ve got someone else’s child - even if it’s just for tea.

Yeah I wouldn't keep phoning. If there was a problem she would have let you know. My phone is usually on silent from work and I forget to turn the ringer back on.
