Lord Patel has invited rapist killer 'Karen Jones', who says he is a woman to Parliament. Jones killed his partner aged 17, then raped a woman five days after being released and was sentenced to 'life' in 2002.

Now he has been released and Lord Patel has invited him to the House of Lords to advise on some matter that I can't really be bothered to mention. AIBU to not give a shit what he says and think he shouldn't have any kind of voice least of all in Parliament?

Lord Patel thinks he has paid his debt to society. I think this is a grave insult, both to the man he killed and the woman he raped who thought she was going to die during his attack.

For balance they should have asked the victim to speak too.

Mark Jones/Karen Louise Lawson was a biological man who was sentenced to life in HMP Manchester.

That person doesn't exist now. It is now Karen Jones who now has a GRC, so legally a woman.

So is Karen Jones, woman, on the sex offender register today? Or was that expunged somewhere along the way?

I notice they don't often get male rapists and murderers addressing the house of lords on male prison conditions. If they thought it important to hear from people who had actually been in prison they would probably have some kind of report giving inmates views not get someone in to give a speech.

Yes YetAnother, this particular person is a danger to men as well as women. They've murdered one man already and can't control their violent impulses towards women. Everyone should be concerned that they've a) been released at all and b) that they're getting the red carpet treatment.

If she remains in the male estate, she is looking at the bleakest future in terms of what matters to her.

This has genuinely upset me.

What about what matters to the family of the person who was murdered? How bleak are their futures through no fault of their own? What about the future of the woman threatened, attacked and raped? What about all the women who may now be too terrified to seek help from a refuge etc since a convicted sex offender with a penis is apparently now allowed in a women only space?

Why should the criminal have the loudest voice? The system is utterly broken.

Surely it is totally unethical to let somebody who openly despises women say they are a woman?
