I know s lot of ladies love a man with a beard and find it sexy but I'm just not one of them.
OH has had a beard for like 3 years now, and I'm not talking stubble it's a full on big wirey beard and I just hate it, I can't enjoy kissing him and it's actually affecting our sex life.
He knows how I feel but loves his beard it's like his comfort blanket.
AIBU to ask him to cut it? Or do you think I should just accept him how he is and try and see past it?

If it was either shave my beard off or get divorced I'd get divorced.

Sorry Grin

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/02/2018 19:56

You feel how you feel but if he’s had it as long as you’ve been together it’s very off to ask him to shave it off. It’s his face.

GummyGoddess · 02/02/2018 19:56

You can't force him to get rid of it, it's not fair and could come across as very controlling.

On the other hand I hate beards so I do understand exactly how you feel.

user1493413286 · 02/02/2018 20:00

I hated my DPs beard and it actually made me fancy him less. I unashamedly nagged him a lot to shave it off and told him that I fancied him more without it; I didn’t tell him that his beard turned me off though but I think that would have been my next step

AwayAndStuffYourself · 02/02/2018 20:01

Have you ever actually seen him without his beard? I ask because DH had a moustache, and I always wanted him to shave it off..finally he did, but my goodness, he didn't look like himself anymore, and I was glad that he (chose) to grow it back..he now also has a beard, and I would never ask him to remove it again. You might surprise yourself with how you feel if he actually does it.

Vitalogy · 02/02/2018 20:01

Does he moisturise it so it's nice and soft.

Helllllooooooo · 02/02/2018 20:03

Does it have shape, does he oil it?

Myddognearlyatethedeliveryman · 02/02/2018 20:05

Grow your fanjo hair the same length.....

lizzlebizzle33 · 02/02/2018 20:06

We have been together nearly 15 years! He had no facial hair at all when we met, I love his face he's so handsome. I havnt told him a don't find him as attractive with a beard but he knows I'm not a fan.
I would never force him to shave it or give him any kind of ultimatum though

Oh and no he doesn't groom it or oil it it's a big bushy mess 😩

PhilODox · 02/02/2018 20:07

Send him to me- I love beards!

(DH might be miffed though)

Greensleeves · 02/02/2018 20:08

I can't stand it when dh lets his stubble grow into a proper beard. I just tell him it looks like a minge and if he wants me to kiss him he knows where the razors are Grin

MyBrilliantDisguise · 02/02/2018 20:09

i'm always amazed when I'm watching First Dates and a guy with a huge beard comes on and the woman looks delighted.

Vitalogy · 02/02/2018 20:13

I like long hair and beards but I've never lived with one.
I think the least he can do is look after it so it's nice and soft/tidy.

Vitalogy · 02/02/2018 20:15

*could have been a Christmas present from you. Beard grooming kit.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2018 20:18

Urgh, I am with you OP, beards are horrible. Bleurgh. Does it have bits stuck in it too?

lizzlebizzle33 · 02/02/2018 20:20

Sometimes... 😩

OP posts:
lizzlebizzle33 · 02/02/2018 20:21

On the occasions that he trims it a bit he leaves all the hair in the bathroom sink and it looks like he's been trimming his man area 🙈

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2018 20:23

Oh no, it gets worse. Hair all over his face and the bathroom. Eww.

Does he have a man bun too?

RedCarsGoFaster · 02/02/2018 20:25

Buy him some beard oil. Works a treat.

TheBrilliantMistake · 02/02/2018 20:26

Allow your pubic hair to grow unfettered until he can't stand it any more, then explain to him that's how you've felt for the last 3 years!

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2018 20:27

An oily beard sounds even worse.

TheBrilliantMistake · 02/02/2018 20:31

The oils are meant to soften the beard, and won't be oily to the touch - they are like conditioner for hair essentially.
Some men can get a reasonably soft beard, others less so, but there's no getting away from the fact that you're still having to kiss through fur, and if that's not your thing, soft fur is only cold comfort.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2018 20:33

Yes I think a hairy face is a hairy face for me. No amount of product can change that. Except maybe Veet. Grin

Fairylea · 02/02/2018 20:35

Can’t stand a massive beard, reminds me of Mr Twit in the Twits book where he keeps bits of old food stuck in it to eat later Envy (sickness not envy)!

Dh has a bit of stubble and I find it sexy. But full on Santa beard is a big no no!
