Can't stand his beard any longer!

I know s lot of ladies love a man with a beard and find it sexy but I'm just not one of them.
OH has had a beard for like 3 years now, and I'm not talking stubble it's a full on big wirey beard and I just hate it, I can't enjoy kissing him and it's actually affecting our sex life.
He knows how I feel but loves his beard it's like his comfort blanket.
AIBU to ask him to cut it? Or do you think I should just accept him how he is and try and see past it?

I had a perfume once that DH turned out to be allergic to. I didn't bloody well keep wearing it just because I liked it and I wouldn't put up with DH having a beard that made me look like I'd run through a nettle patch after kissing him.

That's a really good analogy.

My husband, IMO, looks a bit less attractive with facial hair, but if that was my sole reason for not wanting him to have one, I wouldn't express an opinion unless asked. But him growing a beard makes it slightly painful to kiss him, which changes the situation entirely.

Vitalogy · 03/02/2018 20:24

Good ole Dave, he's such a joker. Love him.

GoBigOrange · 03/02/2018 20:28

My DH was clean-shaven when I met him, and I'd already decided I was keeping him before he revealed that he grows a beard every Winter to keep his face warm.

So I have a handsome clean-shaven husband for 8 or 9 months each year, and feel like I'm married to bloody Yukon Cornelius for the rest of it. And if he thinks he's getting a kiss after he's been eating fish... blergh, he can forget it! It would be hard to cope if it was a permanent fixture, as I'm not a beard lover. At least not of beards which look like something could be nesting in it!

There seems to be more anti beard ladies than pro, glad it's not just me, I thought I was going to get jumped on with this post! 😂

The thing is that I always thought I'd hate a beard... Until my last partner who had a beard and long hair...

And now I'm missing him again... Sigh! Lol

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2018 22:25

Keith Lemon is on the TV right now. Greasy man bun. long hair and a beard. Triple whammy of yuk.

PeanuttyButter · 03/02/2018 22:40

YABU
If he told you how to style your hair or if he said you had to have your lady garden in a certain way or he wouldn’t share affection you would LTB. It’s his choice and if you don’t like it you can lump it.. I’d love my DH no matter what.
We’ve been together for 15 years and about 6 years ago he grew a beard and now it’s about 8” long and bushy.
It leaves face pubes in my sink it goes in my face during sex and when we are sleeping... but that’s my DH now.
If he got offended because my rolls or hair got in his way doing what he wanted to do there would be serious conversations had.

@crazycatladyx5

Oral with a beard is just fine.

I'll bear that in mind just in case.Grin

Thanks for that.

My friend said he'd never had any complaints.

SandyY2K · 03/02/2018 22:52

Keith Lemon is on the TV right now.

I can't stand him. Nothing to do with the beard though.

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2018 22:54

Yes, he's not funny. The beard/long hair/man bun completes it.

I wonder how Leigh Francis's wife feels about it. Grin

GirlInterruptedOftenByKids · 03/02/2018 22:56

Right there with you OP. ..Dh knows I don't even fancy David Tennant in a beardy state but Dh is still currently sporting one. Sigh.

IamAporcupine · 03/02/2018 23:06

lizzlebizzle33 I was about to start this same thread!

I can't stand my DH's beard any more. It was ok when he started growing it and was a decent length and shape but now it is definitely too much for me.

He is incredibly handsome and I really miss seeing his face.

I have hinted that maybe it was about time to get rid of it, but he seems to be in love with his beard. I totally get that it is his body his choice etc etc I just hope that one day he will realise it is a terrible mistake!

Oh, and he does have beard shampoo and conditioner and brush.... they do not make it any better! If anything, he spends even more time contemplating it Confused

nong45 · 03/02/2018 23:42

Every single day I have to tell DH there's something stuck in his beard. From crumbs to bogeys. The look of utter disgust on my face and lack of general intimacy makes no difference to him. I've asked him to get rid and it just makes him more determined to keep it. I married a handsome clean shaven man who is now married to his beard.

IamAporcupine · 03/02/2018 23:54

nong45 I could have written your post!

Vitalogy · 04/02/2018 03:28

Keith Lemon is on the TV right now. Greasy man bun. long hair and a beard. Triple whammy of yuk. Yes, I noticed he'd grown his hair, I like the colour and curl, but not keen on man bun either. Any interesting slebs on keyhole?

gussyfinknottle · 04/02/2018 08:19

This "he can oil his beard" stuff. I don't want a man who oils his beard. I'd rather he did something useful like sit and watch telly with me after a hard day chatting about crap.
Beards. Man buns. All yuk. It's just the hairy seventies with a bobble.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2018 08:29

Vitalogy he had a poke round Katie Price's house and also Jenny Powell's. Can't remember the third. Grin

Vitalogy · 04/02/2018 08:37

Grin Their houses will now have to be fumigated.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2018 10:41

Yes, he always seems to be in their beds or baths. Confused

Vitalogy · 04/02/2018 11:34

I know, he puts their clothes on too. They'd have to be burnt.
