I hate my baby

He is safe with me I would never harm him. I don’t know what to do. He cries all day and all night he sleeps a total of around 4/24 hours all day the rest of it he is crying. He cries when I’m feeding him. He cries when I’m holding him. I’ve tried all the potions under the sun the doctors have given him for reflux etc but nothing helps. Health visitors don’t help, my family don’t help, nobody can help. I’ve tried keeping him close and I’ve tried getting him used to being put down. I’ve tried white noise. I’ve tried a jumperoo. I’ve tried swaddling. I’m always consistent with what I’m trying but nothing helps. I have two other children who he wakes all night long. One has to go to school exhausted every day. It’s been 5 months of torture, I honestly feel like climbing out of my window and jumping, if it wasn’t for my other children I probably would. Help me. I know other people have been through this. What Can I do?

I have only just seen this thread and read all the way through and just have to say I am sooo happy that you've sorted it! Your ds and you must just feel like different people, I really hope he continues to improve and you can finally enjoy your baby.

Just a word of warning.. I was in your shoes last year and had the same amazing transformation in nutramigen. Hiwever after 10 days symptoms started flaring up again and we needed to move onto neocate. We have never looked back. It's quite common for babies to see an initial improvement on nutramigen and then the intolerance to build up again over the first couple of weeks and for the baby to need gma comoletely cmp free milk (nutramigen is extensively hydrolised but nor completely cmp free).

If this does happen to you, it's really really common for baby to be sick on neocate as it is incredibly thin. If this happens you need a prescription for carobel (a thickener). Our lives transformed once we got this balance right and we never looked back. We used 1 scoop of carobel for every 3 oz of neocate. Hope these ramblings are of some help!

Oh and also the allergy testing may not show up as positive as I imagine your baby has a non ige intolerance, in layman's terms a delayed non life threatening reaction as opposed to severe rashes and swelling . However the allergy specialist paediatrician will still instruct the gp to prescribe neocate up until the age of 2 in many cases, on a symptom based diagnosis. Pm if any more questions.

I remember we used the Gaviscon with the Nutramigan too. Don’t stop using it!

OP that's brilliant news!! I'm glad you were able to get your Lo some much needed treatment and also able to put the GP in their place with the printed guidelines!!

Please DO make a complaint. I wish I'd made one with my surgery but we moved overseas when DD was 7 months.... other parents and babies should not be made to suffer because GPs are not updating their practice regularly enough - it's not as if cows milk allergies and intolerances are rare!!

I hope everything continues to improve for you all

Ah OP I'm so pleased to hear your update! Now you can enjoy your baby. Well done for being persistent.
I'm appalled at how you were treated but so pleased you have a resolution.
In your shoes I would definitely make a complaint.
Enjoy your baby OP

Good point Desmondo2016

My DD has the non IgE allergy. Symptoms show after 4-5 hours. We have been trialling milk every 6 months and the vomiting & rash starts hours later. They think she will grow out of it by 5 years old.

Theres no sign of it going yet though.
