Why would anyone do this?

Name changed for this thread.

I’ve just had FB message from a complete stranger who maintains she has been having an affair with my husband. She hasn’t, the message was full of totally incorrect details including dates and times when I know he was with me.

They had connected on linked-in but have never met. Why would somebody do this, particularly on NYE?

Weird individual - if you are certain that what she says is incorrect then I would say she is unhinged!

Block her straight away and don't give her the satisfaction of a reply.

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 31/12/2017 22:45

Send her something equally as bonkers back?

Or just a picture of a tin foil hat?

Cornettoninja · 31/12/2017 22:45

Don't try and understand the mind set of a batshit shit stirrer. Block her and she'll find her kicks somewhere else...

Or it's a case of mistaken identity, either way don't get into it with her.

Ohyesiam · 31/12/2017 22:46

Because she's a sad fuck.
Ignore her and have a happy be year.

StickThatInYourPipe · 31/12/2017 22:46

Could it not be that you have the same name as the woman she was intending he message for? Just message her back and say she is mistaken, he was with you on those dates / times and then block her

Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:46

I told her not contact me, then blocked her.

Bambamber · 31/12/2017 22:47

Could be mistaken, mentally unwell, scorned woman or just an asshole

Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:47

Not mistaken identity she knows my husband from LinkedIn.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/12/2017 22:48

Well if you can definitely confirm the dates that she's given that your dh was with you.
Then it could be a jealous friend trying to spilt you.
A bunny boiler who has the hots for your DH.

Gemini69 · 31/12/2017 22:48

what did your Husband think ? why would she do this ? to a random stranger ? Xmas Confused

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/12/2017 22:48

Could she be an old ex.

Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:49

My husband has gone through shock, upset and anger in the space of about 15 minutes.

OP posts:
Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:50

She’s not an ex. They only know each other from LinkedIn.

OP posts:
Gemini69 · 31/12/2017 22:51

is everything she says... inaccurate or wrong ?

Engorged · 31/12/2017 22:52

Sounds like a fantasist. Maybe she wants him and is trying to stir up trouble between you.

Some people do love to cause shit just for fun though. It gets them off.

Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:53

There are things that are correct, but it’s stuff she would have got from chatting to him. But the things she is wrong about are pretty huge.

OP posts:
speakout · 31/12/2017 22:54

So they know each other?

Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:55

They spoke a couple of times on LinkedIn.

OP posts:
speakout · 31/12/2017 22:55

A stranger to you but not your OH

Maelstrop · 31/12/2017 22:55

Maybe she’s pissed or has issues. Nasty fucking thing to do.

speakout · 31/12/2017 22:56

Have they met? All my Linkedin contacts are people I have actually met.

Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:56

Yes, as I said in my OP.

OP posts:
Puppyduppydoo · 31/12/2017 22:56

No they haven’t met.

I once had a phone call from some one who was claiming I was having an affair with her boyfriend; i was not, she was threatening to kill me.

She called me by my name and was living round the corner from some one who I knew from a vaguely knew and they had two people who were conducting a harrassement campaign against me and my best friend and we'd fallen out, staying with them. (they were in their teens and early to mid 20s, my best friend and I were in our late 20s) so I know these people gave this woman my number and name and told her to threaten me!

What I guess I'm wondering if some one could be using this person to be deliberately malicious

PurpleMinionMummy · 31/12/2017 22:58

What sort of things did she know from chatting with him? It's rather odd.
