Children in bed for 6.15pm with DP's bestfriend and his new girlfriend arriving for 6.30pm. I've made dinner and had the table set since that time. Said it couldn't be a ridiculously late thing as I have desperately got to prep for exams.
Got a text at 7.30pm saying 'we are running to the shop first, need anything?' I replied 'no thank you, dinner's getting cold!' No reply.
We've been stood up haven't we!?
Really wish I had stuck with the original plan of revision, Grey's Anatomy and a take away :( AIBU to just cancel now? And have a (very rare) evening with DP?

Unbelievable. Cancel them.

Nocabbageinmyeye · 31/12/2017 20:35

Wow that's rude!! I would absolutely cancel to be honest, two hours late is an absolute piss take

Rossigigi · 31/12/2017 20:36

That's a stupid time. Text them 'sorry as you are so late, dinners in the bin, having an early night'

Cancel them. Eat your dinner.

GeekyBlinders · 31/12/2017 20:36

I'd turn the lights out at the front and ignore their knock at the door, if they do turn up. If they call, say 'Thought you weren't coming so we've gone to bed/gone out.'

FuckyNellYaBastad · 31/12/2017 20:36

Don’t answer if they turn up.

hidinginthenightgarden · 31/12/2017 20:36

Just eat it. Very rude of them!

Grey's anatomy would have been more better company.

SandyDenny · 31/12/2017 20:36

Very rude, have you eaten yours yet?

DearMrDilkington · 31/12/2017 20:37

That's unbelievably rude. I bet they've had an argument and that's why they're so late with no explanation.

TheHobbitMum · 31/12/2017 20:37

I'd tell them to not bother coming, how rude of them!

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 31/12/2017 20:37

Ugh. Friends of ours did this when I was pregnant. Dinner was ruined and I was so hungry I could have eaten the table! Should have told them not to bother and just eaten my meal. I suggest you do the same!

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 31/12/2017 20:38

Cheeky buggers

ForalltheSaints · 31/12/2017 20:38

Cancel.

mumonashoestring · 31/12/2017 20:39

Lock the door, disconnect the doorbell if possible and ignore the cheeky fuckers if they do turn up. If you're feeling very passive aggressive charitable leave their plates out on the doorstep. Hope you ate your dinner and didn't let it get ruined?

anything yet?

BeyondTheTrees · 31/12/2017 20:40

I hope you have eaten yourselves! It is the height of rudeness being THAT late. Whether you are friends/ family/ health visitors etc you shouldn't be late, especially 2 hours - and if you are going to be late have the respect to let you know asap. I'd lock the door and tell them it doesn't matter

DearMrDilkington · 31/12/2017 20:40

Did they have far to travel?

jusdepamplemousse · 31/12/2017 20:40

So shockingly rude I’d be a bit worried something happened? Esp since they said they were en route no?

Mrsknackered · 31/12/2017 20:41

I was thinking argument too Dilkington

I've had some toast to keep me going but DP's starting to get moody (he's also diabetic!) so fuck it, we're going to eat.

MrsNacho · 31/12/2017 20:41

That's so rude! I would start without them.

jusdepamplemousse · 31/12/2017 20:41

Sorry just saw text was 7.30. Could they have had the time wrong?

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 31/12/2017 20:41

Are you going to ignore the door if they do show up?
