Children in bed for 6.15pm with DP's bestfriend and his new girlfriend arriving for 6.30pm. I've made dinner and had the table set since that time. Said it couldn't be a ridiculously late thing as I have desperately got to prep for exams.
Got a text at 7.30pm saying 'we are running to the shop first, need anything?' I replied 'no thank you, dinner's getting cold!' No reply.
We've been stood up haven't we!?
Really wish I had stuck with the original plan of revision, Grey's Anatomy and a take away :( AIBU to just cancel now? And have a (very rare) evening with DP?

MrsMozart · 31/12/2017 20:57

Hope you get to enjoy a lovely evening with just you and DP.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 31/12/2017 20:57

Bastards. Can you ring their landlines at 6am next morning (number withheld)?

Goodgirl7 · 31/12/2017 20:57

Wow that’s disgustingly rude. I’d have sent them a passive aggressive text.

AhJaysus · 31/12/2017 20:57

That is so dreadfully rude.
do not answer the door, if they dare show up now.

MycatsaPirate · 31/12/2017 20:58

That is beyond fucking rude.

NapQueen · 31/12/2017 20:58

Bloody hell thats rude! Did they know it was dinner for 6.30?

JaneEyre70 · 31/12/2017 20:58

Bolt the door and have a lovely evening. Some people are rude beyond words.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/12/2017 20:59

Is this typical or out of character for them.
I just hope nothings happened, because it's either that or its the height of rudeness

tomatopuree · 31/12/2017 21:00

The ne'ers day cheeky fuckers...

How rude of them.

apostropheuse · 31/12/2017 21:01

You didn't happen to text 18:30 and they've read it as 8.30? Just a thought!

YouTheCat · 31/12/2017 21:02

They'd still be late though.

That is so rude.

apostropheuse · 31/12/2017 21:02

True you cat.

Badhairday1001 · 31/12/2017 21:04

Really shocked at how rude some people can be!

PinkSquash · 31/12/2017 21:04

Wow. That is rude!

MiddleClassProblem · 31/12/2017 21:05

I’d message either an “all ok?” Or a “take it you’re not coming” depend on if I was more pissed off or concerned

We have very good friends who did this many years ago. They had gone out for drinks at a neighbours before coming to ours, had one too many and lost track of time. When they eventually arrived they were mortified the meal was ruined but we all got very drunk together so the night wasn't a total waste.

I learned two very valuable lessons. Never overestimate your capacity to party - I never accept two invitations for one evening now, it means you don't get full enjoyment from either event. And if people are more than an hour late, start without them.

vwlphb · 31/12/2017 21:09

Am gobsmacked. Unimaginably rude.

Greenshoots1 · 31/12/2017 21:09

I hope they haven't had a n accident

Mulch · 31/12/2017 21:10

Wonder if they have had a massive barney or something

ArchchancellorsHat · 31/12/2017 21:10

That's awful. I wouldn't even answer the door to tell them to fuck off now. Just give them a cheery two fingered wave from the warm dry living room, with a glass in my other hand.

Namechanger2735 · 31/12/2017 21:11

I hope you've got your pjs on and door locked

honeyroar · 31/12/2017 21:11

SunshineTheMonkey · 31/12/2017 21:13
