I can't be the only person who does this...

Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

And the crispier the towel, the better.

nannykatherine · 31/12/2017 20:35

watch tv

PocketCoffeeEspresso · 31/12/2017 20:38

DP and I both do it - he calls it 'airing'

DS1 is on the same page (frankly keeping clothes on the child is challenging the rest of the time too) - DS2 doesn't approve at all, and believes in a good rub dry and straight into clean clothes.

Jux · 31/12/2017 20:40

I sit around in my towel after a bath reading. Sometimes I find I’ve spent 40 minutes or more reading in my towel. Shock

DH showers and rubs himself dry in front of a blow heater and uses the hair dryer on his toes. Now, that’s weird.

wooo69 · 31/12/2017 20:49

I do a quick wipe with the towel, definitely not dry, then put loose pj's or onesie on. I cannot do with trying to wrestle with clothes when my body is damp. If I am holiday (somewhere hotter than here) I would just air dry. DH spends a long time drying every bit of him and then gets dressed straight away.

TroysMammy · 31/12/2017 20:54

When I get out of the shower I only dry between my toes. I deodorise my pits, put my dressing gown on over my towel and go and dry my hair. Then I de-robe and get dressed.

WunWun · 31/12/2017 20:59

I'm shocked to the core that there are people out there who dry between their toes!

Tillymintsmama · 31/12/2017 21:04

I airdry too! Wrap in towel for a bit to get the worst of the wet drips off then walk around starkers in the warm for a while!!! haha.

LunchBoxPolice · 31/12/2017 21:13

I wipe legs/arms/feet then wrap self in towel then dressing gown over the top. Then put on fluffy slipper boots. And go off to make a brew/dress ds/wash up/dry hair etc. I can't get dressed when I have towel dried as I feel a bit clammy and like to be 100% sure my jeans won't stick as I pull them up.

CercoCasa · 31/12/2017 21:16

Best thing to do hen still wet is to moisturise all over - I heard it is better for your skin that way :)

TheMathsTrainee · 31/12/2017 21:19

Erm...I don’t even use a towel ...I just put my dressing gown on and then sit and dry while I do my face etc..

TroysMammy · 31/12/2017 21:26

Wunwun I'm full of surprises Grin

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 31/12/2017 21:27

@thepatchworkcat how is it lazy?

I sit and dry because I don't like using a towel an it really irritates my skin. I also don't use talc as its a pain.

PurplePillowCase · 31/12/2017 21:29

I'm shocked to the core that there are people out there who dry between their toes!

I'm shocked to the core that there are people out there who don't dry between their toes!

Rainbowmother · 31/12/2017 21:32

I won't live in a world where I can't dry between my toes Grin

ZarduHasselfrau · 31/12/2017 21:35

I do the same; I work from home, so I just do some photo editing while I am drying out!

I can't bear getting dressed when I've had to towel-dry... wrangling a bra and leggings on a semi-dry bod is no fun at all. Wink

Angie169 · 31/12/2017 21:36

I have a big fluffy towelling dressing gowned that I put on a warm radiator before I get in the bath , then wrap myself in it when I get out and sit on my bed reading mumsnet post for ten minuets . this is ME time.

ProseccoMamam · 31/12/2017 21:36

Everyone in my house sits in a post shower daze until they dry naturally. I have a dressing gown made of flannel material for this sole purpose. And from a skin point of view, vigorously rubbing wet skin with a dry towel will just scrape and irritate the skin which can't be goodSad

sashadasher · 31/12/2017 21:39

I now think I'm a total weirdo,I get rough off with towel and use hairdryer hot and fast speed to dry rest e.g. under boobs etc .I'm then properly dry with minimum effort at top speed.

PinkPanther27 · 31/12/2017 21:41

I have a very specific way of wrapping myself then stand and air dry as much as possible trying not to get cold 😂

SockUnicorn · 31/12/2017 21:48

I dry in my towel. only because i cant be arsed towel drying!

StarWarsFanatic · 31/12/2017 21:50

DH does it too, it winds me up as he will do it regardless when we're in a rush Grin

RatOnnaStick · 31/12/2017 21:53

If I have time it's the height of bliss to engulf myself in large, warm towels and lie back on the bed with my earphones in savouring the peace and quiet or netflixing. No scrubbing here.

ilovepixie · 31/12/2017 22:07

I do too. I sit in my towel and play on my phone!

mathanxiety · 31/12/2017 22:39

I only rub if I'm late, but I do dry between my toes every time. I slather myself with moisturiser and take care of my hair while I wait to dry.

I used to do this as a means of charging my batteries as a mother of babies and small children. Still love it.
