I can't be the only person who does this...

Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

I prefer to dry myself fairly vigorously with the towel as I feel more cold if I sit around damp. Luckily my skin isn't particularly sensitive.

splatattack · 01/01/2018 10:41

I am exactly the same!!!

ChasedByBees · 01/01/2018 11:22

I do this too.

marymoosmum · 01/01/2018 11:34

I sit wrapped in the towel.

Lindsxxx · 01/01/2018 11:36

SItting here drip drying as I type

I would like to know if I’m the only person who washes with a scouring pad (rough side) though. If I don’t use one I feel all sticky and tacky until I can shower with one - never feel properly clean!! One of those loofahs or netty wash things just don’t cut the mustard.

Ratinthehat · 01/01/2018 11:39

I couldn't do that as I shower in the morning and most of the time have about 10mins to get dry and dressed for work before sorting the children and running to breakfast club the school

Gwenhwyfar · 01/01/2018 11:50

Rat - I air dry in the time it takes me to blowdry my hair. It doesn't take any 'extra' time.

Karigan1 · 01/01/2018 11:51

I use a moisturiser you apply to wet skin so have to sit and dry naturally lol

Gwenhwyfar · 01/01/2018 11:53

Yes, I've also been using body lotion/creams on wet skin since I was a teenager so I associate towelling yourself dry with childhood.

chickenanbeanz · 01/01/2018 11:56

I do this too

honeylulu · 01/01/2018 11:58

I do this too. My skin itches if I rub it dry. Also I have low blood pressure and like the bath/shower water really hot so i always feel faint when i get out and have to sit on the chair (lovely squashy wicker chair next to bath!) in my towel for a few minutes anyway, playing with my tablet. One of my favourite parts of the day.

babigailwabble · 01/01/2018 12:01

Towel time. Totally normal. And beneficial for health, probably. Brutes who exfoliate themselves dry

Jedbartletforpresident · 01/01/2018 12:25

Interesting the amount of people who are saying they towel dry but only with crispy/rough/non-fabric softenered towels! Maybe that's the real problem - I cannot abide crispy, rough towels - must be properly soft and fluffy here!

I wrap myself in a bathrobe as soon as I step out of the shower then go about doing my thing until I feel dry enough to put on clothes. Also will have a towel wrapped around my hair until I can be bothered to blow dry it.

My mum can dry her body and hair with a single facecloth. I don't understand how that's even possible...

clumsyduck · 01/01/2018 12:44

A scouring pad !!!! Shock
I occasionally have done that to get paint off my arm for example and its left it red and scratched . So no deffo not for daily use 😂

donajimena · 01/01/2018 12:48

I've got an ancient towelling bathrobe which I put on after a shower so I'm warm. I wash it every few days and I wrap then but I hate feeling chilly!
I have been known to use 3 towels. One on the head one over the shoulders and one around the middle
I never rub dry!

MagpieMomma · 01/01/2018 13:23

Currently sitting in my towel waiting to dry! You are not alone.

Leapfrog44 · 01/01/2018 15:06

my husband dries himself with the hair drier. I thought this was utterly weird until I tried it.

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 01/01/2018 16:59

Along with using every fibre of the towel drying his extremely hirsute bod, my DH not only dries between his toes but he also talcs between his toes and he talcs his ball area! They do smell good, I must admit.......

LunaMay · 01/01/2018 17:14

I've always done this and drove my mother mad as a teen (and now if we travel together). I hang around for a good 10 mins in a towel and then take another 10 to dry my hair (long and thick). On the odd occasion I'm running late I have to really rush the getting dressed bit and really try not to think about not being dry enough.
I won't even go swimming at the indoor cause I can't be feeling dry when it's so humid in there!
I love mums net so many things I've sent her saying 'SEE it's not just me.' I was shocked I wasn't the only one who spoke to imaginary family when getting pizza delivered though Grin

Mafrid2 · 02/01/2018 13:29

I do both, depending on time of day / free time. But I once read airdrying is better as it doesn't pull the skin around =less wrinkles and saggy bits. Don't know if it actually works though 🤔

Andrea130215 · 02/01/2018 18:30

🤣🤣 I haven’t laughed so hard for ages reading some of the comments !!! Seriously I don’t think it’s weird, I actually do this and wondered the other day if anyone else did?!
I do sometimes dry myself ‘normally’ but only if I’m in a rush (not often 😉!!)

yourhavingagiraffee · 02/01/2018 18:37

I sit too or lay on my bed until I'm dried.

AtlanticWaves · 02/01/2018 18:56

I get incredibly itchy skin, especially my legs. But I've found it's worse if I drip dry. I pat myself dry then have to get dressed really quickly.

In winter months it's agony though with the cool air really flares up the itching

Lovelymess · 04/01/2018 12:50

My DH and kids sit in a towel and dry Grin I never have
