I can't be the only person who does this...

Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

putting make up on while drying is a fab idea I am wondering why the fuck I don't do that

Rebeccaslicker · 30/12/2017 20:22

Omg I could lounge in a towel or 2 (hair) or even 3 (around shoulders) for ages. It drives DP beserk. He's a real towel scrubber.

I'm with you, Op.

Ontheboardwalk · 30/12/2017 20:27

Doesn’t it get the bed wet?

speakout · 30/12/2017 20:39

Some of you must live in very warm houses.
It would be unpleasantly cold to do this. As soon as I am out the bath or shower I dry and dress as quickly as possible- including getting my hair dried with a hairdryer. Out of shower to fully dressed takes me 2 minutes.

chipsandpeas · 30/12/2017 20:41

i sit with the towel wrapped round me as well

Hidingtonothing · 30/12/2017 20:49

My house is always toastie speak, it's like a sweat box in summer mind so does have its drawbacks Smile

speakout · 30/12/2017 20:56

What temperature is your house?

iamkahleesi · 30/12/2017 21:10

Can't say I do it consciously but I do exactly the same, always sit and dry naturally

Stardustandshine · 30/12/2017 21:20

Am I the only one that dries myself with a hairdryer after a shower?!

Jerseysilkvelour · 30/12/2017 21:22

Support group!!!!

I like to get out, blot skin dry, moisturise and then dry naturally. YANBU.

peachgreen · 30/12/2017 21:31

I'm a drip-dryer! It drives DH mad as he's the total opposite - he dries himself thoroughly in the shower cubicle / standing up in the bath!

Skiiltan · 30/12/2017 21:32

Both of my daughters do it your way, as does their mother. So did several of my female housemates when I was a student many decades ago. Not unusual at all.

Pearlsaringer · 30/12/2017 21:38

Erm, Just me then, I flannel dry first, then wrap myself in a towel to finish off. Don’t like wet towels! I also wash my hair in the bath so I’m busy concentrating on managing the drips from that!

Asthenia · 30/12/2017 21:40

I have never ever ever dried myself and everyone makes fun of me 😂 but why would you? It feels horrible?! I stay wrapped in my towel while having breakfast/doing hair and makeup and then I’m dry by the end!

SammySays · 30/12/2017 21:46

I sit in the towel too it’s so relaxing! My husband towel dries/rubs while he’s still standing in the shower though Hmm we think the other is weird too Grin

WeirdAndPissedOff · 30/12/2017 21:46

I do this too, though I tend to have a cursory pat down of crevices which take longer to drop dry (inner thighs, under boobs and pits) then get on with other bits whilst air/drip drying.
It used to be simply due to hating drying, but I get dry and itchy skin now which noticeable worsens if I towel dry.

AntiHop · 30/12/2017 21:47

I'm with your dh.

RavingRoo · 30/12/2017 21:49

I pat dry the worst of it and then change into my coat while I’m wet.

TuftedLadyGrotto · 30/12/2017 21:49

I do this! If it's cold, I get under the covers for a bit!

Our house isn't scorching, thermostat us set to 18, it's never above 19 in winter.

MusicToMyEars800 · 30/12/2017 21:51

Me and DP and the DC's do this too, we are all too lazy to dry Grin and I agree with the pp that said that towel drying causes itchiness.

KAT0779 · 30/12/2017 21:57

I used to do this, in the days when I would sit in the bath for an hour or more, adding hot water as it got colder. These days its usually a shower and no sitting around in my towel Sad

Pixiedust1973 · 30/12/2017 21:57

I do that too! Can't be arsed to dry myself with a towel!

HappyHedgehog247 · 30/12/2017 22:02

I sit in the towel. Sometimes, if it's chilly I even climb into bed!

cathyclown · 30/12/2017 22:17

Just barely dry the bits and things. Get into the towelly gown and use the hairdryer to finish it all off!

Perfect for me, but each to their own.

Jedbartletforpresident · 30/12/2017 23:00

Your coat RavingRoo?! Why on earth would you put a coat on? That's a new one on me!

I am giggling slightly at the idea of you all hairdryering yourselves! My hairdryer is stuck on the hottest setting which is grand for drying my hair but I can imagine it might cause a little hopping around if I was drying my skin with it!

My bedroom is usually set to 20 but in reality at this time of year usually sits at about 19 and sometimes lower. I'm sitting wrapped up in a massive towel (I agree with the PPs who said it needs to be a bath sheet and not a piddly wee scrap of a thing - I do NOT drip dry at my parents' house when we visit because my DM does not believe in using large towels - she believes them to be wasteful!) though so I am perfectly warm. I'm not sure about getting back into bed wet but then I like the feel of the soft towel around me - not so much the feel of cold sheets against bare, wet skin.
