I can't be the only person who does this...

Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

Me too!

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 30/12/2017 23:10

Nope, a crispy non-fabric-conditioned towel that grates a layer of skin off is the way to go! I hate soft "luxury" towels that just push the water around 🙁

My DH uses every single fibre of the bath towel before he even gets out the shower. Makes me laugh every time 😀 He's a hairy bugger though!

clumsyduck · 30/12/2017 23:15

Yes!! Wrap the towel round me , sometimes dressing gown on top too then lay on the bed untill I'm dry

I'm always cold and this is the best option !

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 30/12/2017 23:17

Possibly TMI but I can't use the towel to dry my nethers - always use loo roll! Every nook and cranny is thoroughly dried before putting jammies on 😀

IJustDontKnowAnymore1 · 30/12/2017 23:17

I have to get dry and dressed right away but DH stands in the middle of the room in the buff and 'air dries' 😂 (he does normally shower after the kids are in bed! 😂🙈)

Broken11Girl · 30/12/2017 23:20

Yep I do, another air drier.

CrackersDontMatter · 30/12/2017 23:48

I sit in my towel and read.

ShinyBadger · 31/12/2017 19:27

Totally—— just sit there until my body has dried! If it’s cold I just have more towels!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 31/12/2017 19:31

Me too

Ravenesque · 31/12/2017 19:36

I find drying myself with a towel really difficult and thought that I was odd because I prefer to sit in the towel,or walk around in the towel until I'm dry. I do have a bit of a rub, but I'm still damp. I honestly don't think it's possible to properly dry yourself without sitting/walking around in a towel for a while.

Re swimming, agree. I'm never properly dry when I get dressed after swimming and I don't like it.

In a freaky story though, years ago I went to Lourdes and did this think where they immerse you in water while you're wearing a sheet with a whole for you head. Then you get out of the water and I think you get another sheet to dry off. But, by the time I got back to my clothes, a few feet away at most, I was nearly completely dry. It obviously has something to do with the water and it wasn't only me, friends I was with had the same experience. So, I guess if I was bathing in Lourdes water I wouldn't sit around in a towel! Smile

Oh, and also the best hangover cure I ever had was the water from the taps in special place around the grotto. N.b. I do not believe in miracles and the like.

Springprim · 31/12/2017 19:41

Only if I'm not in a hurry, otherwise yes I will sit quite happily wrapped in my towel until I am dry.

1moremum · 31/12/2017 19:41

I prefer to dry myself a bit, mostly my legs and feet so i dont leave wet footprints or get my slippers wet. Then i put on my bathrobe (made of cotton towelling) and sit around for a while. Its a bit of a luxury to not have to rush, and my skin feels better.

In real life, i dry a bit, put on my bathrobe, and then go in and make coffee, pack lunches, sort breakfast while i drip dry. Not such a luxury.

PeapodBurgundy · 31/12/2017 19:42

Mr Jedbartletforpresitent, laugh away! I sit in my towel while I sort my face and hair out, put my deodarent on etc, get my clothes/PJs on deendig on the time onf day. By the time that's done I'm dry. It's an efficient use of time and energy. You are wrong! That is all Grin

Chocolate50 · 31/12/2017 19:45

No I don't do this but I don't think its odd, whatever floats your boat & you're comfortable with!

Redisthemagicolour · 31/12/2017 19:45

I'm with you OP

MunchMunch · 31/12/2017 19:48

I do it too op also, I hate soft towels, I like mine crispy so the bits that I do towel dry actually get some friction rather than a soft towel sliding off.

Celticrose · 31/12/2017 19:54

Yes I do this as well. Do not feel properly dry any other way. Hubby is the opposite but hey so what he knows that I will not change now after 31 years. Just joined a leisure club where you shower before and after the pool. Would like to be completely dry before putting on my swimsuit. Not sure how that is going to work out

Wholovesorangesoda · 31/12/2017 20:05

This is how I dry myself too. I hate actually druing myself off, just chill out in a towel until im dry

ThatWhiteElephant · 31/12/2017 20:08

I dry my feet, put slippers on then walk around the house doing a few jobs with my towel wrapped round me, whilst I dry naturally

OhWhatToChoose · 31/12/2017 20:11

I sit round to dry in a towel but hubby rubs dry.

Phalenopsisgirl · 31/12/2017 20:18

I Don’t even use a towel as such I just have various towelling dressing gowns instead, i’m Deffinately an air dryer too

WunWun · 31/12/2017 20:19

This has reminded me of a thread years ago where the posters DH or DP would only dry himself with a hairdryer and spent 30 mins doing it each time or something stupid. I think he might have done it at other people's houses too.

franktheskank · 31/12/2017 20:20

I do all the cleanse tone moisturise stuff, dry my hair with hair dryer, style hair and put make up on.

By the time that's done I'm dry so I get dressed!

SpaceRangerMummy · 31/12/2017 20:21

I like drying with a towel.

My DC like air drying. They run around the house shouting "naked boy on the loose". Got to admit it looks fun.

AManWalksIntoABarOuch · 31/12/2017 20:23

Hehe.
Sometimes I just sit in the draining bath to dry!
I also use the hairdryer on my feet as touching them with towels makes then really itchy.
