I can't be the only person who does this...

Help settle something for DH & me. DH is laughing at me again (before anyone jumps on accusing DH of emotionally abusing me - this is lighthearted!) because when I get out of the shower or bath I like to sit wrapped in my towel until I'm dry. I hate rubbing myself dry with a towel and would rather sit for 10mins until I dry naturally. DH thinks I am utterly odd for doing this and thinks that everyone else in the world Hmm dries themselves with a towel "the normal way".

Tell me I'm not alone in this!

What do you weirdos do in the morning before work?

Rainbowmother · 30/12/2017 10:37

I couldn't bear to sit there all damp, getting cold. As soon as I get out, I start manically rubbing all the water off me

Jedbartletforpresident · 30/12/2017 10:37

For those asking what I do - I sit on a particular part of my bed and check MN/FB/BBC News on my phone. It's a little moment of peace and quiet, When we're not in a hurry it can be a half hour of peace which results in my skin feeling dry and smooth at the end of it all. (Also gives my hair a little longer to dry naturally before I start with the hairdryer so I use the hairdryer for less time which I prefer.)

Thank you all - I feel ever so validated

I do this too and it really doesn't take long.

HariboForBreakfast · 30/12/2017 10:39

I do this too, sit on the bed in my towel while listening to the radio and playing online scrabble. What's the rush to get dressed after a leisurely shower?

HerSymphonyAndSong · 30/12/2017 10:42

No I don’t like leaving the bathroom in my towel, it’s uncomfortable and annoying. I dry off quickly and then put pyjamas on in the bathroom (even if I’m going to get dressed again when I get back to my room).

Sensitive skin aside (that sounds like a good reason to not towel dry), I suspect those of you who don’t feel properly dry from rubbing with the towel use fabric softener. I don’t - I like properly abrasive cardboardy towels that get you really good and dry. I know many people think this is weird!

alittlequinnie · 30/12/2017 10:43

I do this too only i've got it down to a fine art - towel around me out of bath then straight into thick towelling robe.

Leave that on for a few minutes to get the worst off and then swap into my second towelling robe to dry the rest off - stay in that for rest of evening!

Kitsharrington · 30/12/2017 10:45

Haha I do this too! If I'm really naughty I get into bed damp

Horror!!!

BrevilleTron · 30/12/2017 10:45

That's what bathrobes are FOR!

WheelyCote · 30/12/2017 10:45

Towel dryer here

catsarenice · 30/12/2017 10:46

DP does this. Really winds me up! He can shower in 3 minutes but has to have 20 minutes lying on the bed reading air drying.

feral · 30/12/2017 10:46

I do this on days I have time. Love it.

Daffydil · 30/12/2017 10:47

Doing it right now Grin

Darcychu · 30/12/2017 10:48

i didnt even know people did this XD Haha i dry myself but yes i do get itchy,... never even thought of just.. air drying under towel, but surely its cold?

okeydokeygirl · 30/12/2017 10:48

I do this too. If it is after an evening bath I sit on the bed and read a book or listen to radio. DH will do this in the evening too. It is a pleasant way to relax. If after morning shower and don't have time I will shower then do other stuff until I am dry e.g. put laundry away, do make up,unload dishwasher. I might put on a bath robe if it is cold but prefer to just have a towel. Hate swimming for this reason as I feel all sticky if I rub dry and have to get dressed straight way. I do however make fun of my DH who drip dries in the bath after a shower and then brushes off th exceess water before reaching for his towel. He also puts his T shirts on in a weird way which also makes me laugh Grin

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 30/12/2017 10:53

Another one, who has always been natural dryer apart from swimming because you can't walk around the changing room in just your towel for 10 minutes.

There's plenty to do in the ten minutes, I don't even read, I clean my teeth, brush my hair, pick up my pyjamas from the bathroom chair, look in the wardrobe for what I'm wearing, then I might have one who of my tea and I'm dry enough to get dressed, hay Presto. Rather than rubbing myself down in the bathroom and taking time doing that and then having to do all those things anyway.

But then I don't use a hairdryer either, I definitely let my hair naturally

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 30/12/2017 10:56

I never rub dry, I wrap and see to anything else that needs attention (teeth cleaning, moisturise face, sorting out outfit etc)

I’m 55 and have lovely soft, smooth skin so I think no rubbing has been beneficial.

AlpacaPicnic · 30/12/2017 10:57

I do this in the summer if it's hot, without the towel! I just wander around until I've air dried. It's nice and cooling.
But in winter I scrub dry with a scratchy towel to exfoliate my crocolide skin!

WeirdCatLady · 30/12/2017 10:59

I don’t air dry unless I’m poorly, but, like Symphony, I do enjoy a good harsh rub with a sandpaper-like towel. Good exfoliation for my skin Grin

Strummerville · 30/12/2017 11:04

Same! My least favourite part of showering - why prolong it?!

MsHomeSlice · 30/12/2017 11:04

yes...another wafter here. There was a thread back a month or so ago full of rub dry crazy folks and I thought I'd give "proper drying" a go....I felt all discombobulated all day. All crispy and weird! DREADFUL!!

NorbertTheDragon · 30/12/2017 11:05

I prefer to sit and dry off naturally too, YANBU OP.

theredjellybean · 30/12/2017 11:06

i am with you OP...i use lovely full length towelling dressing gown...warmed up on towel rail, then i like a nice little lie down on bed with my book after a shower or bath ...until nice and dry ( or can be bothered to move)...

AmysTiara · 30/12/2017 11:07

I do this. Ex dp found it odd. Not the reason hes now an ex.
